AUSTRALIA.

Tsunami waves may start affecting the following States and Territories after

these local times:

Norfolk Is after 08:30 am (UTC+11.5hrs) Sunday

Lord Howe Is after 08:30 am (EDT) Sunday

New South Wales after 08:45 am (EDT) Sunday

Queensland after 08:15 am (EST) Sunday

One of the comments shown on CNN was by an American Idol person. He said that there is utter chaos in the streets right now.

Im just scared.. Im from Chile, and all my family is out there.. My grandparents are really really old.. and r living alone.. Just hope and pray they are ok.. Lines are busy, and I CAN NOT get through ! Good night everyone..

yes everyone is running out on the streets! They are soo scared.. especially the ones that lived through the 60's earthquake.. They r showing people with broken legs, and cuts and blood on the stream im watching..

You have to admit tho... there is alot of that dribble on this site, its becoming a nightmare to decipher whos actually being serious and whos just having a bubble, oh yeah thay will be having a feild day no doubt,

i think the earthquake happend just so me and you could could have a quick disagrement on ATSforums, set up buy the USA government of course, theres just no way it could have happend of natural courses

Upgraded to an 8.8 and 9 foot tsunami warning issued.

If i haven't seen anything on the news by tomorrow morning i'll be knowing Haiti the governments use it as a fund raiser for illegal activities!

The Tsunami warning is also given for Antarctica, thats where the new big iceberg is.
no mention of the possible effects of that yet.

2. Prince William Sound, Alaska 1964 - 9.2
3. Off the West Coast of Northern Sumatra 2004 - 9.1
4. Kamchatka 1952 - 9.0
5. Off the Coast of Ecuador 1906 - 8.8
6. Chilean coast 2010 - 8.8


i doubt the tsunami would amount to much buy the time its reaches Aus, would barely be noticeable, even in the likes of Ecuador, Colombia, Antarctica, Panama and Costa Rica. it would only amount to a meter high tops,

TBH i cant see that being true, there was ownly 85ft Tsunamis during the 1960s when they had a 9.5 earthquake...
