Hello ATS!
This is my first thread (other than my introduction), so please give me the benefit of the doubt if I miss something.
Before I begin, allow me to tell you a little about myself. I am a 25 year old male, residing in a suburb of Los Angeles. My girlfriend and I recently
moved into my childhood home which we are renting from my parents. Although I have experienced strange phenomenon throughout my life, this particular
house never posed any problems that I can think of. If anything, I feel much safer in this house as I'm the third generation of my family to live
here.
I consider myself more of a scientific thinker, open minded, but very skeptical about most things. I was raised Catholic/Christian, but never could
really buy into it. Even though I have seen some very eerie unexplainable things in my life, its much easier to not allow yourself to believe it. For
a scientific mind to admit to itself that it just witnessed something that shouldn't be there, that it cannot explain, may lead one to question his
sanity, or reality in general for that matter. Especially since my spiritual experiences have all been either frightening, shocking, or purely
irritating. Thus, I have deduced most of my experiences as simple tricks of light, or even the all encompassing "brain misfire" that doctors say
might lead one to hallucinate.
Yes, I HAVE used the search function, and yes, some of the topics of this thread have been brought up before. Unfortunately, most of them are either
old/inactive, or didnt go anywhere past the usual "sleep paralysis" debunk or "over active imaginations." I was a child once, so I know all about
over active imaginations. I have experienced sleep paralysis as well, & I can see why people would be freaked out. Please give me a chance to explain
why I feel my experience was different before you write me off. As stated in the title, this thread has to do with the "3am phenomenon." For
whatever reason, people seem to have trouble with this time of the night, myself included. Usually for me its just the annoying fact that I seem to
always wake up around that time. I have had some "encounters" once I awoke, but that's for another thread. If you're curious about this topic you

Recently I went about the perimeter of my home, installing motion sensing lights in an attempt to deter thieves. I just put up the last one yesterday,
above my front porch. Last night I went to bed around 1:30am, my girlfriend was still awake watching tv in another room. I awoke to feel weight being
pressed down on the bed next to me, I was facing away from that side of the bed, toward my nightstand and alarm clock. ( Anyone who has slept in a bed
with someone will know what I'm talking about. Even half asleep with your eyes closed you can feel when someone next to you climbs in or out of bed )
I opened my eyes, saw it was a little after 3, and felt a little annoyance thinking how I had to wake up in a few hours for work. I rolled over to
put my arm around her and to my shock there was no one there!!
No one that I could "see" anyways, I could still feel the presence of something
there. I could clearly see in the dark, the bed was even sagging from the weight. It took a second for my brain to process what was happening. I would
be lying if I told you I didn't feel a sense of terror and foreboding. Suddenly, right next to my head this awful whispering, hissing started. It
was not a language I could understand, but it sounded like latin spoken very fast. It was the worst voice I have ever heard. Im getting the chills
right now just thinking about it. I felt/saw the weight come off the bed next to me, I heard a thump on my window, then my sensor lights went on, one
at a time, in succession as if someone was walking by them. I grabbed my gun off my nightstand and ran to the window to see who was outside. No one
was there. The whole experience couldn't have lasted more than 10 seconds, but it seemed like hours. I walked through the house and saw my girlfriend
passed out on the couch by the tv. I decided against waking her to tell her what I had just experienced. Shes very sensitive to scary things, and I
wasnt even sure what just happened. I turned on my bedroom lights and got back in bed, clutching my gun, replaying the events in my head, desperately
searching for an explanation. I remained that way until the sun came up and it was time to get ready for work. Until last night, nothing scary had
happened to me in this house. Interestingly, when I told my best friend about it today, he said;" I didnt want to say anything, but the other night
when I was at your house I went in the kitchen to grab a beer and saw one of your lights swinging slightly. I watched it for a while, trying to figure
out how it was moving, then it just stopped. All of the windows were closed, the heater/AC was off. I couldnt figure it out. I tried walking past it a
few times to see if the wind from walking past it would work...nothing. There are three of those in your kitchen, why was only one swaying back and
forth?!"
Thank you for taking the time to read this, Im still at a loss to explain what happened. I'd love to hear your theories, ideas, or similar
experiences. I swear everything happened as I said.
