Ice Age (Possible cause for "The End of the World"?)

End of the world?

No.

The Earth/World will go on just fine like it has in it's long history. Remember the last Ice Age [one of Many] or that Prehistoric Comet deal that wiped out almost all forms of life?

Yes the Earth/World will do just fine.

HUMANS however may have a rough go of it.
We may not survive.

That whole natural selection or survival of the fittest thing.

Ok
Imagine happening at the same time a huge solarstorm hits us.

All electronics will fry. Then what ?

Bunkers are save for a while but what if it takes to long to get warm ?
Life in a bunker the next 10.000 years ?

If you read my post properly you could see that i meant human life and the world as we know it being destroyed.

Maybe i wasn't being clear enough?

True.

Maybe a title asking...

[align=center] Ice Age (Possible cause for [The End of Mankind?]) [/align]

Would be more accurate though.

EDIT to ADD:
Welcome to ATS.

An little piece of history to consider...

Super volcano Toba

Almost eradicated mankind at 73.0000 years ago and those who managed to survive (small pockets in Africa) are said to be those whom we all descended from (based on DNA samples) taken around the world.

Interesting.

Great point so...

If we are going to do mankind in let's do it right. I'm voting for a Giant Comet slamming into the Earth that fractures the crust thereby creating massive amounts of global volcanic activity spewing huge amounts of ash into the atmosphere which blocks out the sun and creates a Nuclear type of winter ending in a catastrophic Ice Age.

There, we have all the bases covered.

So all the people who survive whether they planned it or not hold the future of humanity in their hands.

If there is an "Elite" sitting somewhere full of god knows what kind of people, in thousands of years or even more then the earth will be full of their descendents.

Who knows what or whom will populate the earth in years to come?

Anyone care to hazard a guess?

I reckon a bunch of white pompus twats.

Edit: Race having nothing to do with the fact that they will probably be pompus twats.

Those people living next to nuclear power stations will survive, if they have sense and seeds, how long for depends on the amount of fuel they have, and can go on to other types of electrical generators, such as wind farms.
It all depends if the people can 'think outside the box', have construction
skills, know about foodstuffs, etc.

They are building a load of wind farms out at sea where i live. Well they are meant to be... they say they'll do a lot of things.

I think that there are definitely enough people who would be able to survive on their own part, its just a matter of whether or not whoever is running things at the time wants them alive.

Obviously someone is going to come out on top in the end, i just hope its good people who have worked hard to survive and not just some rich evil corrupt politicians and famous people.

I'm surprised they haven't started making another planet habitable yet.

Or maybe they have, i've been hearing stuff about them finding water/ice on the moon and mars.

Maybe they are getting ready to ship important people the hell away from earth.

Rubber has nothing to do with it. It's Volcanism; and yes it's an important distinction because it changes the whole meaning

He dude !

I don't think your thread has anything to do with the thread from Watcher73.

His is about An ice age presented with info and the idea the NWO is causing it.

I think yours is about what could an ice age event would do to destroy the world.
I'm no mod of course but for me those are two different subjects. Only related by ice.

[edit on 21/2/10 by Sinter Klaas]

I didnt say anything about the NWO causing it.

Our threads start off the same, with the cycles.

I'm sorry watcher but imo your story is one with evidence trying to proof something.

This is one speculating over the destruction of man.
Why don't you try making a new one ?

More complete, more evidence you name it.
I'll try to be the first poster on it.I like this matter a lot.

Surprise us

Only this time it's going to be Yellowstone I think.
It's overdue and lately it rumbles a lot more then it used to.

What's going on at Yellowstone ?

I think we are headed for at a minimum another mini-ice age if not a full scale one. The Sun is still pretty much asleep.. virtually no sunspots which are what drives the climate on Earth. This winter is turning out even worse than I predicted last summer...and I think that either this coming summer or the summer of 2011 could well be a summer with no summer. These weather changes come fast when they come....I understand that last time over a period of a couple of years the climate switched to cold..and stayed that way for 1500 years.. I cannot imagine the impact of even a single year of crop failures in the Northern Hemisphere... millions could starve.. and there is the very real possibility it could happen in the next couple of years.

It seems they must have already shipped the "important people" away from Earth judging from the blithering idiots that seem to be in charge of things these days. I really have the feeling we have been abandoned already.

In my town this winter we have already had 2-3 weeks worth of 8 inch snow. To a lot of countries thats nothing, but to this town it is a lot.
Usually we don't get more than a couple of days a year with 3-4 inches at the most.

And i don't know the exact temperatures but i'm sure just from personal experience that it has been a lot colder this year. Then again people say that every year.

If the UK doesn't get a summer this year it won't be that amazing concidering i can't remember the last time we had a decent lengthy summer let alone a weeks worth of decent sun.

Have you noticed that plants and flowers started budding early over the past few years? Or is it just me.
