See my post above yours and watch the youtube video. The Mandela Effect is a real thing and has made a huge impact on peoples memories or alternate Timelines. You should go do some research on the Mandela Effect and watch some youtube videos, you just may be really amazed at what you thought was real is now different.

I remember a Mckenzie's Corrected Map of the World given to me by an Aussie friend. It had the South pole up and I hung it on my office wall. If one didn't know the orientation, NZ would have appeared to be northwest.

I have been subjected to this for years. People swearing a song lyric or title of book was not EXACTLY as they remember it. People who can't point out the countries of Asia on a map, or who are suprized to find out aht different map projections distort the continents are CONVINCED that they alone remember how it "used to be" No chance they could be wrong, no the universe has shifted. Why do I think this? Try teaching University for a few years and you will be amazed at how wrong people can be ("But I remember Ohio being a city in Michigan. Is Michigan a country?" An actual quite) and then refusing to believe they could be wrong.

Want to convince me? Show me something other than your claims you remember it different. Until then, Occams razor suggest people can make mistakes is a good explanation.

The thing is your timeline may be different from mine and what was "Interview with A Vampire" for me may be "Interview with THE Vampire" for you.

How do you explain all the "Luke, I am your father" custom made t-shirts and other items for sale online? In our time line he actually says "No, I am your father". Many die hard star wars fans have watched that movie hundreds of times and practically know the whole script.

There is something weird happening to reality and I doubt everyone is getting Alzheimer's.

The same reason people say "Play it again, Sam"!

Im guessing because this is somewhat classified as (alternate reality / dimension / conciousness) that it hasnt been labelled a hoax.

First thing id like to ask the originators of such speculation is... When if ever did you goto space and confirm that what you say is true.

Are you saying that all the maps / information you saw up to a certain point, showed that australia had NZ on the other side ?
Can you provide these maps. or is it a convenient world mesh that such things only exist in your head ? and nothing from your past existence transferred over except your own thoughts ?

Now before anyone assumes i'm being aggressive or belittling anyones beliefs.. being that this is a conspiracy site etc. i would like to say that growing up.. one of the major things i used to look at on maps etc.. was How far away australia seemed to be from the rest of the world. perhaps the maps were wrong. or perhaps being a kid and looking at a Globe in school i had a slightly warped perspective on where things were... However at no point can i say NZ was ever on the other side.

cdn.zmescience.com...

I guess it would be possible for the Techtonic plates to form a NZ in the lower Left corner of australia.. But compared to the rest of the islands made along the line.. it wouldnt make sense for the movement.

This thread is hilarious, New Zealand has always been South East of Australia. I can understand if someone says that Australia looks different from where it is positioned, mainly because in older maps its like a land mass by itself. I suspect, alot has got to do with because you cannot actually project a globe onto a flat piece of paper like a map. That is why Canada and Greenland looked so huge, while Africa and China is actually larger. Countries more to the extreme north and south looked elongated while those in the central looked squashed. This could be the same reason why Australia is positioned so differently and looked further away in some maps...

I am also not sure if OP confused Indonesia with New Zealand, but it could be a possibility.

Occam's razor would suggest your memory is poor, not a changed timeline. How well do you know New Zealand?

If New Zealand was on the other side of australia (purposeful lower case), then the global tectonic regime would be totally different and that would mean that every country would look different as well...

Well to be fair living on an elipsoid, if you go far enough east or west you will get somewhere

Yes, to be fair, but now you've just given those whack-jobs an 'out'!

Actually, we're on a geoid, not an ellipsoid...

I' m from South America and I used to love studying maps as a kid. And I have to admit... In my mind's eye NZ also appeared to the West of Australia. Only not to the North, as some have said. I would even go as far as to say that I have the distinct memory of looking at it on a map. Strange.

Could it be that Australia being so far out means that I grew up with particular maps that had Oceania in a box in the corner of a map with NZ also in this box and that somehow they got inverted by mistake?

There's also the possibiliy that, well, since Australia and New Zealand share a strong British presence at least historically, same language... for people who are not from that part of the world they form a very distinct duo. They sort of go together in my imagination. So...we think of that great mass of land that is Australia and we know that NZ is somewhere nearby. Add to that that we have vague image of many islands Northweast of Australia...so New Zealand must be near those, right?

I had the pleasure of living in Oz for 6 months, and also visiting Tasmania and NZ briefly. Everything geographically is as I remembered and experienced in 2000. I wanted to travel there since childhood and studied everything I could get my hands on about it. I loved it there, although I could only visit a few places in depth since my adventure was so short.

I do understand the timeline/ parallel universe theory. Maybe seek others who have same glitch and look for commonalities, such as Berenstein/ Berenstain to determine if you share other 'memories.'

In this case, do you remember a NZ with a milder climate?

The tectonic regime only works for the current configuration.

Any other placement of New Zealand ( i.e. on the other side of Australia) would require a different tectonic regime and every landmass would appear differently...

Oh I don't know... something tells me that this is just a sinister attempt to fool the masses into forfeiting the truth for falsehood.

But...if true...would explain why some people think the Holocaust never happened.

Good question.

The whole alternative universe/timeline theory is new to me, but been following it for a little while on ATS as a lurker
. While I like the idea of changing timelines and am captivated by all the experiences I keep hearing about misplaced facts/memories/information, maybe it's just me but I see the potential for tinkering.

Reminded me of how there are groups that are challenging whether or not there was ever a holocaust. Gosh, I don't even understand how anyone could come to that conclusion with all the evidence
Much less I wouldn't want anyone to take the truth away from me by trying to convince me that it was simply a figment of my imagination. Or an alternate time line. What if someone is tinkering with all the facts and trying to convince us that we were wrong all this time?

Maybe I'm thinking way off. But who would want to do this? I don't know, the ones trying to pull strings in the world. My apologies if I've caused any confusion.
