...and I believe that Jesus himself would classify the majority of modern Christians as Pharisees.

(Forced Prayer In School among other things)
Matthew 6:
5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

23:
15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
27Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
28Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Just many more, he didn't care much for Pharisees either.

That isn't what it says at all. Jesus said you could be saved by following what he says, and if you pray through him to God. IT doesn't say at all that you must be Jewish to be saved.

Thanks for posting this thread.
We have no choice, as responsible people, but to continue to offer what answers we have to those who want them. You know this, I see.

That is our duty, it is our wish - for others to have what we have been given - and to please God by offering His love, and His true nature, to those who don't know Him.

We know that all people are welcome to come to Him, just as He drew us to Himself. Every person is eligible for the love of their own Father, and some deserve it even more since they have not had a good earthly father. So we offer it, freely, since we received it freely. We are not in the pews, we are here with our beloved fellow humans.

Please don't read any more than that into our posts. The word of God has power to save people, and many are finding what they need from it. It's every person's right to believe as they wish. Some people have never been told of God's love, only His judgement. Some only know of love, but not His authority and wisdom. Both views are incomplete, and we should give people inside information they can't get in the mainstream. Information about the difference God's love and Christ's mercy have made in our ordinary little lives. How much of a difference it has made in more extraordinary lives, and in all who seek Him. They will find Him, if they can find a way to break through doctrine and superstition, and other people, and go to Him on their own. We are here to say, "Go, and you won't regret it."

To those who wish it wasn't so, I'm sorry.

To my brothers and sisters of courage and compassion, I commend you.
We all know things are changing fast, and no person should be without God in these times. Please be encouraged and endure these cold-hearted rebuffs, knowing there are those who are hurting, confused, angry, guilty, empty, frightened, disgusted, and utterly bereft of hope, just as we once were. Thank you for giving them the love and consideration they deserve. Where else can they get it? Who else is offering love with dignity, love without ignorance? God freely offers wisdom to any who want it, without recrimination or resentment. What He hates are the proud and arrogant, who turn people away from Him, but offer them nothing instead.

It's almost as if atheists can't just be satisfied with their own decision, but have to attack and defame God, and any person who follows Him, whether they have been personally involved with them or not, i.e. this site. That's not a biologically sound attitude, btw. Evolution couldn't support that kind of behavior on its best day ever. Humans would have been gone long ago if even a fraction of them were as uncaring about their fellows as some are willing to be in front of all of us, and of course, Him.

To the ones who don't want other people to express their point of view...peace and love to you. A bit less hostility might make it easier to see your point. What was it again?

Im sorry if any of you took my opening statement as forcing my beliefs upon you. This mostly came out of frustration after seeing several posts that scoff about Jesus and so many anti-christian youtube videos.

I just found it interesting that the Word of God would mention all the people refusing to even try to give Christ a chance, and deny a flood, and the age of the earth in the last days; and so many ignore it as a sign of the times. When I hear people say that there is absolutely no proof that the bible is true, I have to laugh, because that is exactly what Peter said they would do(willfully ignorant). I was an firm disbeliever at one time, yet the evidence stacked up against me once I choose to unbiasedly study the truth behind the Word of God.

About the liberal vs right wing Christians: I would say neither side is totally healthy. The liberals like to compromise some of their truth to accomodate the world, while the right has an unhealthy obsession with crusading against certain types of sin. A Christian should look to combine the sharing, "accepting of all" attitude of the left with the rights' firm stand of taking the Bible literally and not conforming to the world for acceptance.

I try my hardest to be a follower of Christ and not a follower of religion. I do believe we are getting short on time. So while I will never force anyone to take my point of view, I feel as though it is my obligation to warn you of what I see as impending doom; whether that be the end of the world or just the end of your mortal life.

Ill give that to you, ATS does slant towards anti-christian and the "conspiracy in religion" board is really just a religion themed bickering thread. But the problem is on both sides, Athiests think that religion=christianity and christians think that quoting bible passages is some kind of proof of something. There is a spirituality board if you are interested in discussion bit CiR is really just a warzone.
you have a couple different types of threads here
1."There is no god/jesus threads" you are all so dumb threads
2."OMG lets stop the christians" threads
3. "OMG like jesus is the best thing ever" threads
4. and the "im going to ask the christians a really dumb question in an attempt to troll them" threads.

Yes, ATS, for the more part, seems to be aligned against Christianity, agreed? The reason? If ATS were to coddle along Christianity, as in other forums such as this one, Christian posts would dominate the board, and Bible quotes would be the answer to every post. I have seen this happen before. What I don't understand is this; If the Christian crowd wants to talk exclusively about their "Faith," then why not start their own forum? I know the answer to that...sadly, they are only happy when they can harass everyone else with their Bible quotes and endless ramblings on God this and Jesus that. Very soon God does everything, everything bad is "God's will," and then we are all supposed to fall on our knees, and faces before this God we have never seen, and have no knowledge of. Suppose the God they speak of is actually Enil? What then? What will Christianity do when their God shows up, and he looks like a Dragon?

Something else too...I do not have "Faith." Faith is a stale thing, a static thing. I have "Ideas" instead. Ideas are dynamic, and ever changing.

I feel as though the overwhelming attitude on ATS is very anti-Christian. It seems this site is full of people who feel that they are 100% correct on their Athiest/Agnostic/New-age/Pagan views. As I read most of the Debates on this forum turn to World vs Bible, I find it is almost always the Christian having to defend their point of view. I don't believe there could ever be enough evidence for some of these people.

"These people"

..that line sums up your whole attitude.

..but I feel I must point of the blatent hypocricey of accusing people of being anti-christian when you are being anti Athiest/Agnostic/New-age/Pagan yourself. Is it hard trying to blink with that huge plank of wood protuding from your eye?

Why are people so afraid anymore to hear about Jesus Christ?

Not afraid of Jesus.. in fact I greatly respect his teachings but hearing his name dropped just for egos sake gets on my nerves sometimes. People such as yourself rarely spread his actual message of kindness yet evoke his name hoping it will grant you moral superiority above those you despise.

Nothing in the OP mentioned anything about loving your neighbour.. just hating on anyone who's not christian.

Explanation:

As our country crumbles mostly because of the loss of morals in this country, people continue to rationalize that we should liberate ourselves from this old religion and its outdated moral guidelines. Little do they know that our founders created our rights with an assumption that the citizens would continue holding up in respect the 10 commandments from God.

There are scoffers like this because of the religion of Christianity itself. Look around you. Look at the churches who do their level best to ruin lives, while the leader swaggers around in a suit and car so expensive, it's a complete and actual sin. Look at the nasty, narrowminded, opinionated smears a lot of Christians make on these boards (not to mention personal experience with quite a few I wanted to slap their tongue square out of their skulls for making such asinine, abusive and purely mean comments). Christians are to be the reflection of Christ, yet the massive majority are reflecting what even people who ARENT Christians tried to call a great teacher as an abusive, slimy, lying, crummy, thieving little thing anyone would want to punch square in the mouth.

Dont go blaming the ones who scoff (former Christian here). There's a whole lot of good reasons WHY these people are scoffing in the first place. I mentioned this site before, but have a good look at pulpit pimps. There's the whole ugly, nasty, naked truth laid out for even the most close minded believer. I not only can now back up most of my rants, I have solid reasons and proof with that site.

So... Fix your religion, if it's the right and true one, and stop placing blame everywhere else. THEN, I might come back. But not a minute before.

Bucket we may not agree on much but I will be darned if I don't give you props on that post of yours. It's all Christian...Christians can't possibly be wrong

Your book is special because it had eyewitness acounts right?

So did the Book of the Dead...your commandments mirror ours which came well before yours...so maybe law is based off of the Book of the Dead? Hell maybe it is based off of something even earlier. Many pieces of Christianity are stolen...laws...holidays...sabbaths

BOTD

Some of your Christians even admit that our sabbaths were stolen and reformed to make them more pallitable to Pagans centuries ago...so if you guys stole then how in the name of all things holy can we trust the rest of the stories which have no proof?

Wait, this site is also full of people who feel that they are 100% correct in their Christian views... What's the difference? There is none. Do you think Atheist/Agnostic/New-age/Pagan people CARE what the bible says about them? Do you care what their books say about you? No.

I don't care what your bible says about most ATSers and I think it's a pretty arrogant and separatist of you to start a thread that criticizes the members of the board on which you are posting...

I doubt many ATSers will take offense. I don't. But if getting together with your fellow Christians to put the other ATS members down because they don't believe in the same dogma that you do makes you feel better, then have at it. I'm sure Jesus would approve. He was all the time ragging on people who believed differently.. Oh, wait...

quote; So here is my guess of why people have turned on Christianity. a.) Because the 'devout' Christians have actually turned against the word of the Bible, b.) We are a more tolerant world and the Christian-Right is still trying to force their opinions on others.>>

There's an interesting book by Randall Balmer, professor of American
religious history at Barnard College, Columbia University, an editor at
Chriatianity Today. He is an evangelical Christian. The book is entitles,
"Thy Kingdom Come, An Eangelical's Lament." How the religious right
distorts the faith and threatens America.

"For much of American history, evangelicalism was aligned with
progressive plitical causes. Ninteenth-century evangelicals fought
for the abolition of slavery, universal suffrage, and public
education. But contemporary evangelicls have defaulted on this
majestic legacy, embracing instead an agenda virtually indistinguishable
from the Rebublican Party Platform."

Many denominations have Americanized Christianity to the point of
being unrecognizable.

quote; This also brings up the point that most people who are Agnostic/Atheist/Humanist actually seem to follow Jesus/Gods' rules better than the actual religious ones screaming about it. So I have to admit that now I have changed my opinion of Christianity and religion, and have became a Christian, I am still searching for what branch of Christianity fits me.>>

"Preach the Gospel always, when necessary, use words."
There are many covenants, but one God. And there are
many paths to God, followed by those who do his will.
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with
him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and the nations will be
assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as
a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep
on his right and the goats on his left. The king will say to those on his
right, 'Come you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom
prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and
you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you
welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in
prison and you visited me.'

Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you
hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you
a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see
you in prison and visit you? And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen,
I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine,
you did for me.'
Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed,
into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was
hungry and you gave me no food,........' And they will answer when did
we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger......and not minister to
your needs?' He will answer, Amen, I say to you, what you did not
do for these least ones, you did not do for me.'

Seem that if one were more concerned with doing His will, there would
not be much time for worring about the Eschaton.

quote; So as I kept reading I thought to myself, "How can the religious right say they are the most Christian when in fact they seem to do the opposite of what the bible says"? This also brings up the point that most people who are Agnostic/Atheist/Humanist actually seem to follow Jesus/Gods' rules better than the actual religious ones screaming about it>>

So, yes, there are many Agnostics, Atheists, Humanists, who do the will
of God, and are saved through Christ.

Most Christians have forgotten things as simple as remembering the sabbath and keeping it holy,

The Sabbath is holy, the command is to keep oneself holy on the Sabbath.

quote; Most are so hateful of Barrack Obama and ready for revolution against those evil democrats that they are willfully prepared to violate the book of Romans.>>

And of course, racism has nothing to do with it!

quote; Most believe that god got mary pregnant with; himself, was born, then regularly prayed to, himself; then sacrificed himself for our sins to, himself... all so we could be forgiven for our sins by himself....

yeah.... and get the best part, none of that crap is even in the book they claim to worship...>>

Hopefully, most adult Christians are beyond that and accept the nativity story as symbolic.

hello Equinox99,

What don't you understand.......

Jesus was indeed a Jew, a rabbi, a prophet, a sage, all in the line
of Jewish holeymen. He was circumcised. He preached to the Jews and
had little to do with gentiles. The first Christians were all Jews, they
continued to worship in the temple, celebrating Eucharist in their homes,
untill they were excommunicated from the temple and cursed as
heritics. Make no mistake, the God of Jesus is the God of Israel, the
God we Christians worship on the Sabbath is no other than the God
of Israel.

Shalom
