the problem is develop it and really use these cars, since I dont see anyone using them ... if IRAN can make the population use these cars, it would be AMAZING!

i think its a good announcement. I was hoping that Iran would announce something positive instead of dreadful and they apparently done it. I would hope that they also follow up on this with positive things in the near & distant future. It only helps them but they still have a long road to go in general.

Iran Claims It Has Made World’s Most Powerful Natural Gas Car
The Middle East’s largest automaker has unveiled a four-door sedan, claiming its engine is the world’s most powerful run by natural gas. It’s a significant development in a country that has converted more than 250,000 cars to run on the stuff. Read More www.wired.com...

Iran Khodro unveiled the car Saturday in Tehran, and the Tehran Times says it was developed "under the intellectual property of the Islamic Republic of Iran," which explains why there was a picture of the Ayatollah looking over the car. Read More www.wired.com...

yes but Iran is unburdening itself of oil dependency by setting up a grid of nuclear power plants and solar collections systems.

This is the root of it isn't it. If an Arab or in this case, the Persian nation of Iran, converts to electric from clean source and the west is a big pig for oil still, well isn't that just egg on the face of all the white collar jerks who try to prop the west up as the "good guys".

Iran is hated because it is a threat to the west and Israel in forcing change which could put an end to the value of war.

If there is no need for a military industrial complex, America will go totally broke because they've put all their eggs in the war machine basket. Half of every tax dollar collect in the states goes to their military machine. Frankly I'm surprised that any American would think for a second that they are the "good guys".

Sorry America, but in the eyes of much of the world, it is you that are the problem.

ohh an electric pile of junk oowww!
Give me a break, you know how useless them electric cars are in rural areas with snow, bad road, heck Michigan pot holes would bottom them toys cars out.

Nothing wrong with gas, we got plenty of it and has nothing to do with climate change other than to the kooks who thing man made climate change is real.

In a speech that lasted more than an hour, Ahmadinejad confirmed that his country had now enriched uranium to 20 percent -- sufficient, scientists say, to create a nuclear reaction.
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Maybe this is what they were talking about. Now they need the nuclear power to run their new car. How's the U.S. and others going to respond to that? It is a blow! How can you say we have to go green on one hand and then say but you can’t develop clean nuclear power plants to power your green car? I think the U.S. has an issue.

NO, Nuclear Energy which despite the simpsons propaganda is greener for the environment than using fossil fuels. Ask a Nuclear Physicist.

This is an interesting development after all. The U.S. and Israel have been gearing up for a fight with Iran. But if Iran is developing nuclear energy as part of an environmental move to clean energy then how would you spin the necessity for war? They have a strong case on the global scene. Why don’t they have the right to develop and use clean energy while reducing their dependence on oil?

Wow, Im actually impressed by their move. They didn’t come out with the we have developed a bomb and now we will destroy Israel. They came out with the we have a solution to our dependence on oil with the benefit of reducing green house gasses. Lol I Never would have thought that. Nice play.

This is GREAT!!!!!

This is great...
For the Electric company that will burn "Oil and Coal" Producing Electricity. Even a Nuke plant has waste that's toxic for oh I dunno something like 10.000 years or more.

Ah man!

It's a fatal Blow

We are down for the count

One...

Two...

Three...

Oh wait he's up again.

Your wrong about how long the toxic waste stays toxic... you wanna tell us how long the polution from fossil fuels pollutes the environment? All this simpson propaganda against Nuclear Energy has been engineered by the oil tycoons. It's pure ignorance that is unfortunately rampant.

Does he plan on stationing hit and run drivers in every Western nation or something?

Maybe they will be outfitted with mobile missle launch platforms?

Or maybe he plans to sell them in America?

Oh wait I just found a great ATS conspiracy! How much you want to bet Iranian spies messed with Prius software so they could come in and corner the electric car market!!!!

LOL

Care to back that up or are you ganna do the same thing and claim it propaganda that only comes from the Cartoon Simpsons. Where's your info about clean Nuclear energy? Explain this to me, because most if not all basic science professors and scientists will tell you that depleted Uranium is highly toxic to humans, and it does last for quit sometime.

So please explain to me how setting up many factories that run off of Uranium is helpful to the environment. Or better yet, humans themselves. Sure lets use Nuclear energy at the cost of cancer, tumors, and other health defects... oh wait.. its good for the planet though..

Yeah, but this is a huge step in the right direction. Why? Well, if you don't put much gas in the vehicle then you are still using less oil and gas. Just thought I would point that out. I know, still sucks that it's involved but it would require a LOT less of those resources and eventually we will get to the point where electricity is NOT generated primarily by those.

Agreed. However, if done correctly it is contained and poses little risk to people and the environment. However, like you mentioned before, this stuff stays around a LONG time and who is to say that even if it is contained properly right now that in 200 years or so that containment breaks down?

But, with what we have right now for containment, if (as stated before) it is done right, it is a very clean option.

Think of it this way...if IRAN switched to electric powered cars on a national scale then building of Nuke power plants is justified and flies in the face of the Western world that is against the building of Nuke plants.

They are against Iran having nuclear power plants but not everyone. Its a smart move on Iran's part. Like I said, good play.

Regardless of how the car performs (which fact may well be a red herring), by stating that this would be a 'blow' to the west etc, one can read the true subtext of this electric-car announcement as being:

The west's one true mission in the world is to keep producing oil at any cost. Moreover, the west does not want an alternative to oil.

Weather or not Iran is correct about this is up for debate, but this scenario is the point of and message within this announcement.
