Price comparison...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roadster = Approx $110,000

Samand = $14,000
Samand wins hands down.. you can get nearly ten of them for the same price.. so what if it looks crap, its body shape can be easily changed in future models.

But I highly doubt this is the thing to break capitalism's back..

Still, fair play to Iranian industry for this.. excellent work.

I have to agree!! But you also need to know there are lots of idiots on here who actually want to see Iran test a nuke, or for war to break out or just something wild and crazy.

Too many folks are ready to justify spending all thier money on the massive amounts of canned tuna and bottled water they have stored in their basements!!!

If this is "it" I don't see how anyone could possibly be disappointed.
I think it's wonderful.

I'm pleased not only because of what it is, but because of the many things it could have been, but isn't.

Whew.

No . . . it is actually kind of anti-climatic if this is it.

It is like the doctor calling you after your cancer exam telling you he has big news. When you call, he tells you that their office is moving to a different bigger location.

It is like . . . .

"And then?"

Wow you want an end to capitalism? So you think communism or socialism are better? I mean thats cool i was just curious.

Nah man no ISM for me I live in a capitalist society ATM and it is no better than other ism's in the world, I mean im gen Y and its next to impossible for me and my wife to buy a house, all prices for water, food and energy are increasing and I think the "free"
world is run by corporations. So a big pain in the arse for banks and corrupt governments is ok with me, I just hope Iran is economic in its punch not military. I don’t vote and the only time I deal with my capitalist gov is when the steal my money through taxes, otherwise I completely ignore them. I have no idea what is better than capitalism; I tend to lean towards (anarcism)...?????

If this is the 'punch' then they have punched themselves in the face.

Electric cars don't need oil fuel or Nuclear power plants...
...they only need solar collectors.

No more need to buy oil means no income for Iran. Who will buy them when $17,000 equals ten years of income?

This guy?

What the hell is wrong with you people?
This is fantastic announcement.
When has any other country made this technology so affordable?
I salute Iran for steping up and in the right direction away from war.

I have to hand it to Mr. A. he is very good at setting up the Western Governments and Zionist Israel and their assortment of war mongers, bigots and religious xenophobes to look like the fools they are.

They run around like chicken little proclaiming the sky is falling and the only thing that is falling is prices on electric cars.

Ha! And if the American Government announced an electric powered car, everyone here on ATS would be all over it like some kind of conspiracy! "Oh the government must of put chips in it so they can track you wherever you drive!" "Oh, they must cause it to break down after the warranty runs out so you have to pay them teh monnies!" "The Government never did anything for me, why should I want to drive a clean car???"

But noooo, when the glorious Iranian Government does something, it's all flowers and rainbows, so as long as it's not enriching uranium.

Well to be honest, even though this probably isn't their "announcement", it's better something peaceful and productive than something destructive.

for a major annoucement against the superpowers that be, from a very oppressed or if you prefer over-sanctioned "sovereign" country isn't this a great gandhi-like move against the money/oil dependant war profiteers there are today?

This is GREAT!!!!!

This is great...
For the Electric company that will burn "Oil and Coal" Producing Electricity. Even a Nuke plant has waste that's toxic for oh I dunno something like 10.000 years or more.

Ah man!

It's a fatal Blow

We are down for the count

One...

Two...

Three...

Oh wait he's up again.

China? ... lease the patent to China, get the chinese mass producing them cheap, loads of Chinese driving clean cars (less polution), flood the western market, and Iran gets rich on royalties?

It would be hard for the west to say no, having hyped up how important it is to 'go green', what with Climate change and all that!

Just a thought ... probably a bad one
