You gotta chill m8.

You will probably get your war with Iran, millions more will be slaughtered.

The War Machine is in gear. Israel will be happy.

Thats the bottom line for you , isn't it?

Just because people see what's going to happen...

It doesn't mean that anyone likes it, Sean48.

We all loathe it.

The people vote their leaders in, as such they take responsibility for what their leaders do.

We are talking about political powers. Politics is much stronger than anything these days. IT's all about telling people what they want to hear and using every ideal to your advantage.

I assume that because their dogma says you do what he says or go to hell.

The fact that this guy is advertised at all should be a testament to the power that people want us to think he has.

No, it's not a demonstration of his "power". It is a demonstration that most Western media outlets do not understand the Iranian political system and how it works.

The fact that the media advertises this guy at all should be a testament to how much power they believe he potentially has - or how much power they can derive from him for their own purposes.

What the media believes is not necessarily the truth.

To think that just because they are Shiite muslim that they are incapable of liking or believing in something other than their professed belief is PREPOSTEROUS. To think that just because they say they believe or do a certain way means that they actually mean it is also preposterous.

I did not say they were incapable of liking something other than their professed belief. The president is a Shiite muslim so they really are not deviating from that. The whole point at hand is they are unlikely to defy the Mullahs because of their religious beliefs. Sure if they get hungry and angry enough you might see it but it's highly unlikely you'll see a pro-western revolution considering the way they are and the way we have engaged them for the last 50 years.

The US is not gearing up for NO REASON.
Further, the fact that Iran needs weapons and is chasing after the nukes is proof that Iran means war AT SOME POINT.

Seeking nuclear weaponry does not mean one is gearing up to have an offensive war.

I retracted my statement.

Yellow busers should be able to speak.

Iran wants peace , being surrounding by warships is not the answer.

They complied with the UN on inspections.

Stop being so naive and shortsighted. Events are not playing out because Iran is being peaceful and cooperative. Events are happening because of their refusal to behave responsibly towards everyone else. Has it ever occured to you that neighbours of Iran have asked for protection?

If you're a logical person, you would expect the regime to want to start a war with someone out of desperation, yet some of you will cry out "false flag" at every opportunity. Really, I find it so disgusting that I want to puke if people cannot see that people like Khamenei are desperate to start a conflict.

If you compared the number of people that voted to the number of people that do not, you would realize how few people the "political leaders" actually represent.

And no matter who is voted in, the same basic result will still happen because it is a function of human narcissism and pleasure - which people go back to when they can't find God.

Wow. You would be a good follower of God. Would you do what He said? Because let me tell you... people are not following their religions these days!!! I don't know where you got that idea!

So apparently Iranians aren't human. I didn't realize their politics could be so much different...
In fact, it's not.

Because POLITIC is stand alone. It is the art of saying what people want to hear. The different kinds of manipulations exist, but the point is moot.

Who said the media is 100% truth? I didnt. The best lie is inserted in the middle of a bunch of groovy truths.

They are unlikely to defy the Mullahs because they have SOMEWHAT a fear of Allah and the possibility that their religion is correct. The mullahs mean nothing to them. Learn to be human, not one who focuses on country and race as a divider of the core of humanity. Many Christians live the same way. In America, however, there is more of an open environment for Christians to say, "Well I don't believe that pastor or this part." I wonder what happens if a muslim does that...especially in Iran.

You should really meditate on that thought.

Considering our engagement over the last 50 years with Iran, our Invasion of Iraq, Bush's insistence they were a part of "the axis of evil" and our continued posturing against them-I do believe they have a reason to feel somewhat threatened. A nuclear weapon is expensive. Very expensive, it takes a very large amount of resources to make one. It is more likely they seek one as a hedge against invasion. This country has thousands of "Defensive Nuclear Weapons". You don't spend billions just to lob your only weapon into the west coast and start world war 3. There are cheaper ways to do that.

There is no way "Mr Briefcase suicide one way mission bomber" can do Mach 23 so an ICBM they will need. North Korea failed their missile programs, and that is very fortunate.

Production costz for 'current' Minuteman icbm's are 7.000.000 US $. Not counting the facilities required to produce weapons grade plutonium of course, that kind of infrastructure is a pre-requisite (and MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE but Iran have centrifuges, lots of them working 24/7 - FOR WHAT - 5% ?. Google Natanz for example).

Weapons grade: en.wikipedia.org...

Obama said Iran's failure to notify the International Atomic Energy Agency at the start of construction "raised grave doubts" about its promise to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes only.

Cheers :-)

Surely someone's mentioned Oliver Platt's line in 2012 "Remember British Columbia in 2010."

Winter Olympics starts in Vancouver on Feb 12th. Seems to me that most of everyone who has to be there will be there by the evening of the 11th. Nice simple dramatic photogenic massive attack. Easy peasy to start a new war with anyone you wanted to after an attack on the Olympics. Once you pull that off it's all steam ahead for the fake holographic alien invasion at the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to disagree with the people claiming that Iran wants nuclear weapons for peaceful purposes and only wants to live as a sovereign nation.

This is in fact, not true. Countries don't develop nuclear weapons for "defensive" purposes anymore, people. The 'Cold War' is over. If they wanted peace then they should avoid doing anything with nuclear weapons.

As much as you America haters think that they'd use nuclear weapons, they wouldn't. The only scenario where the United States would use a nuke is if another country did first. The US will never make a preemptive strike on another nation with nuclear arms.

Iran wants nuclear weapons so they can use them to threaten other nations, to further it's own radical agenda. Don't be so foolish.

I literally don't understand how you could possibly think Iran wants peace.

I'm not exactly sure what your point is here...

Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam do not have nuclear weapons. North Korea tested a few, and then nothing after that because everyone else in the world realizes that having nukes is not a good thing.

EDIT: spelling

Wow! Read the article and was quite disturbed! Apparently, the US is seeing the threat as many of us have been alluding to on ATS? If we are all wrong about China and Iran, then great, but lets not denote the importance of preparation for such events, either.

With the arms shipment to China's outlaw territory, Taiwan, and a larger military presence taking shape in the gulf in response to Iran, it would appear that this year may be the one when the powder keg explodes. One way another, there has been an increase of pressure in the geopolitical realm for some time, whether it comes from the US, Russia, or China.

One day the kettle is going to blow, and it may very well be this year. Lets hope I am wrong, but there appears to be a lot of war posturing in every corner of the world. Akin to what was going on during the Cold War and World War II over sixty-years-ago.

I think my point is that if they had nuclear arms, they would never have been a target for us invasion, which is why Iran wants them.

And actually, only one country has ever made a pre-emptive strike against another country, the USA, and the victim, Japan, didn't have any nuclear weapons either, so you assertion of 'never' is obviously inaccurate. (Even assuming that you personally can know and dictate DOD policy)

The ONLY country with a blot on their nuclear record is the country that now holds more warheads than any other - the USA.

Iran needs the bomb. it has seen what happened to iraq and north korea, and with the enemy at the gates, has opted for the protection that the north koreans have.

And whos to blame them, israel has nukes,so does usa.but the really worrying thing will be what role the PROXY groups will play. israel is usa proxy, and with the protection of nukes, irans proxy powers of hizbollah, syria and hamas will be further emboldened.
the iranians will not be lobbing nukes around, they will have 2 maybe 3 when they announce to the world they have them, they will not waste them.but they will move their pawns about the battlefield, and hizbollah is the one to watch. Hizbollah has already beaten israel in 2006, so im sure the israelis are wanting revenge.

the usa moving ships and destroyers to the gulf, alongside patriot batteries is just scaremongering, and driving the arabs into the arms of the west.
