Found this rather interesting article on the 'Times News' site. a meeting of the royal society will discuss the possibility of ET's being among us here on Earth.

It is the classic sci-fi scenario: discovering aliens, not in outer space, but right here on Earth, sitting next to you in the workplace, serving food in your local restaurant, or, scariest of all, in your own home.

The premise might sound like the film Men in Black, but this week it will consume the great minds of science at a meeting of Britain’s most venerable institution, the Royal Society

A rather interesting guest list too -

Paul Davies, a physicist at Arizona State University, will suggest tomorrow that the search for extra-terrestrial life should be focused right under our noses. His audience will include representatives from Nasa, the European Space Agency and the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, while Lord Rees, President of the Royal Society and Astronomer Royal, will also lead one of the sessions

The conference will also address the social implications of the search for alien life. Albert Harrison, from the University of California, Davis, will discuss how human beings might respond to the discovery of extraterrestrial intelligence

It's interesting this is happening with all the talk of Disclosure, the Vatican admitting there is life out there, and huge conditioning from hollywood and MSM.

Very curious,indeed!

"Disclosure" is not something I'm looking forward to!

(Disclosure will be only what they want us to believe, for their own reasons.)

BBC News has just posted this piece from the Nation's top astronomy honcho:

BBC News - Astronomers Hopeful of Detecting Extraterrestrial Life

The important question is, how long before we hear about what they discussed. They can speak in private all they want, but it doesn't change anything unless they share their conversations with the public.

Do the royal society broudcast their lectures online? this would be pretty cool to watch

Do they mean illegal immigrant aliens?

Why would we focus our search for Extra-terrestrial life on Earth unless they have a hunch or clue that we are all aliens?

No ones mentioning the oddity of the fact that they are worried about whether or not 'ET's' are living amongst us in plain sight. This implies that they believe in the possibility that they look very much like us, if they are real. I for one, found this intriguing, even as a skeptic.

Oh you are right, how weird would that be if Aliens and Humans are looked the same. Well I guess not any weirder than Aliens with eight tentcules and a beak.

I thought the `aliens` they seek are of the extremophile kind .

According to Professor Davies, “weird” microbes that belong to a completely separate tree of life, dubbed the “shadow biosphere”, could be present in isolated ecological niches in which ordinary life struggles to survive.

Likely hiding places include deserts, scalding volcanic vents, the dry valleys of Antartica or salt-saturated lakes.

Not to dismiss the significance of finding `alien` microbial life in some obscure corner of the Earth . It would be sensational .

I thought it was strange that the Story starts off by implying that ET's are possibly here on Earth and look like us, but it finishes off talking about 'Microbes'.

there is a huge difference there!!

This is very cool indeed. I will be looking forward to watching this when I get off of work in the morning. Meanwhile-- I must add, with all the articles lately about ET(s) something is brewing up. Whether it is a small amount of information of *discoveries* or a large amount, something is better than nothing. (Speaking positively

On their actual site it doesn't say anything about looking for alien life on earth. It says the following:

Astronomers are now able to detect planets orbiting stars other than the Sun where life may exist, and living generations could see the signatures of extra-terrestrial life being detected. Should it turn out that we are not alone in the Universe, it will fundamentally affect how humanity understands itself - and we need to be prepared for the consequences.

This is just the same old "looking for microbes on distant planets." Just the fact that they use the word "detection" is telltale. I would say they word "identifying" would be much more appropriate if they are indeed looking for higher-level extraterrestrial life on earth.

who are these royal society peasants? i dislike them just by their name, how arrogant. they will find nothing and know just as much as the lowest common denominator.

I'm sure some of those extremophiles in those deep sea hydrogen plumes have BIG BLACK EYES = aliens.

I've been trolling ATS for more than a year now and this is the topic that finally got me to sign up.

While I am intensely interested in the idea of intelligent alien life and it's discovery/disclosure, the idea that there is a group of people discussing weather or not said alien life is living among us, disturbs me to my core.

In reading and researching the many posts/news articles here on ATS and in the media, one thing I've learned is that nothing is ever as it seems. If one were to take this discussion and it's implication of the idea that alien life might exist here on earth living among humans, posing as humans, weather true or not, and look to the future of what such a discussion could bring upon us as a whole, we could surmise that at some point there would be a need to differentiate between the species. It could then be said that such a need could bring about a desire for a test to be administered, presumably of DNA structure, assuming there is indeed a difference between the two species. If such a test were to be administered on a global level, it could open up a pandoras box of genetic discrimination. Now with that having been said, think of all the before mentioned coming to be, simply from a group discussion. This group, their constituents and their findings need to be carefully monitored.

As I said I am intensely interested in the idea of the discovery/disclosure of intelligent alien life. However I do not wish for mankind to give up what little freedoms and liberties we have simply for the knowledge that we are not alone.

One only need look at a school playground to notice that even children separate themselves into like groups. We as a species are only children among the stars and should as such take our time and be patient when searching for something larger.

Let’s keep this real.
For those who already believe, it’s only confirmation and a whole lot of “told ya so’s” to those who have put down, made fun of, and instituted those of us, who for years claimed that this was indeed the case.
The lie will continue as far as, to how long they’ve known, so pay attention to the way this gets handled, if it gets (officially) disclosed.
The bigger question however, is how will they integrate this information and continue the motion of assimilating us into a police state, that is currently been undergoing for the past decade or so. This should be taken seriously, to the point that, they “have known” and will be taking this direction for a reason.
So question two is; What’s the bigger picture?? It’s not like they will disclose being aware of “ET” and say sorry for the things that have taken place. Please just go on like nothing in the recent past happened, since we just found out we’re not alone, because this changes everything!!! Everything (so called information) released to us is calculated, and has reason. They are not just “winging” it day by day. Does anyone think they want to disclose this because we have a right to know?

When disclosure happens I hope the gov makes them get green cards and then tax them. Dist. 9 anyone.

in our homes...scary...ehh?

listen, if I found out my dog, or spouse was in fact a alien, I would know immediately that they are a peaceful loving (potentially drooling if its the dog) race. no xenophobia if I have known one of em for years...would be some interesting dinner convos that evening however...(again, especially if it was the dog).

anyhow, the lineup of discussion appears to be little more than a debunk chat...nasa...they are a broken record of nope.

get greer in there to at the very least, counter these offical idiots.

if they are indeed living amongst us, I would think a greencard is in order...taxes, meh...they gotta pay like the rest of us schmucks if they are using our roads and whatnot.

I would find more interesting the conditional flight paths they would be allowed to take. no more flying wherever without clearance in anyones airspace..approach from the ocean and schedule in the flight like the rest of us.
