Since you say there is no line, or a line would be unconstitutional, then I have to say.

That's a little nutty.

Ziggy Strange

You can say it is nutty all you want... the fact is that the Second Amendment doesn't put any "lines", or restrictions, and it doesn't specify any "sane right to bear arms".....

People are not going to start making and storing nukes, or missiles just because the second amendment is not being infringed upon....

That sort of statement is what is really nutty...

Why do i feel the consensus here on ATS that everybody should have the right to own a gun for protection. I can understand why you would want to have a gun in this moment of time, but.. GUNS KILL AND ONLY KILL Realize! It is in no way good, ethical or in any way positive to use weapons, don't be proud of it!

Not to be a smart ___, but guns don't kill. You can leave a gun laying on a shelf for years and the darn thing won't move an inch by it'self. You have to look at a gun like a tool. That tool won't do anything on it's own, a gun can't fire by itself, it's the person behind it that does the shooting/killing.

UM, no... This is a hoax that has been recycled around the 'net for years.

See here:

www.senate.gov...

WE NEED TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT FACT-CHECKING BEFORE SOUNDING ALARM BELLS... When we don't, it just reinforces the belief that we are "conspiracy nuts". REAL info we DO need to sound out will never be taken seriously if we propogate bogus info.

I am sorry but I voted for this damn puppet hoping we would actually get some of our rights back from the crooked Bush era. It seems between Bush and Obama we are in serious danger of losing all our liberties. I ask ALL Americans to hide their firearms and stockpile them along with thousands of rounds of ammunition. This Government is shredding our constitution and our rights on a daily basis. I guarantee, soon ammunition will be very limited so stock up. I am not saying rise up violently against the government yet. We have to wait for their move, but we must be prepared for whatever they throw at us. We have all seen the warning signals, watch laws and regulations they are looking to pass in the senate and congress. I pray NO-one gives up their guns and ammunition. As I have said stock up on ammo and guns if possible.

Why the hell do you americans get so upset about your guns just because some dudes 100 or so years ago decided you all should get one you cry when someone wants to take your toys away !

dont you know its wrong to kill people , it says so in the bible , which america was founded on , the christians killed enough of the natives to make it that way, it even says so on your dollar bills " in god we trust" yet you obviously dont trust him enough that you are all breaking his rules by killing people because your constitution gives you the right . So you are all in direct violation of god ! shame on you hahahahaha

Now in this day and age gun control is essential , if you had gun control in america people wouldnt be committing so much crime, you wouldnt have so many murders or robberies , and you certainly wouldnt have people coming into your homes with guns to rob you in the first place.

Makes sense doesnt it ?

instead you are all really eager to blast someone as soon as they set foot on your property just because you can .

I really hope you do get some tax which makes you pay through the nose for owning a gun , the less guns there are in the world the better !

By the way im not religious i just think america is #ed up and gun control is one of the reasons why !

Would be a great law, finally not every hillbilly nutjob can own a gun. The dead students at Virginia Tech would cheer!!

And to those saying it's taking away liberties, it's NOT. You could still own a gun. The only thing that would change is that now you'd be accountable for what happens with your gun, and if you're mentally unfit, you can't own one.

I don't know about you, but psychopaths or mentally ill people shouldn't own guns. We've seen often enough what happens if they do.

I did redact this thread (top page 2)
and scolded my self as well.

Thanks for repremanding me in reitterating fashion. I concur.

Interestingly, I did find it curious that so many in Congress introduce bills to keep big pharma's drug supply off the Duty fee list.

When Congress is holding hands with Pharma's lobbyists and POTUS not only holds hands but goes to second base with Saudi Elites, (kissing), there is no doubt that even in this "Pile of S**t" of a thread, If you dig deep enough, there's a shetland pony in there somewhere.

So for all of you anti gunners out there....

Is it anything other than your knee jerk reaction and buying into of sensationalist news story's that makes you want to see guns taken away?

For the international crowd, have you looked at the RAW numbers of gun crimes pre and post ban in the UK and Australia? I say look at the raw numbers because statistics can be altered to say ANYTHING. Anyone with even a high school education should know this!!

Put blankly the Raw numbers do NOT support your assertions that restricting gun ownership or banning it altogether lowers the crime rate.

In fact across the board the opposite is proven true time and again... Not only that but Hitler Mao and Stalin all passed registration acts shortly before they seized the civilian populace's armaments and we all know how well that turned out.

NOW anti gunners I have a mission for you, should you choose to accept it. (Yep I am bringing mission impossible into this because You CAN'T do it!!) If gun control is so wonderful and really does stop crime etc find me ONE instance where the RAW NUMBERS have shown an improvement pre and post gun control legislation. OH and btw for this to be legitimate You're going to have to provide two sources that show the same number and they have to be either neutral or reputable sources (no brady commission numbers please) If you can do this I'll give you three sets of raw numbers showing the opposite for each one you could possibly find.

See and that's what gravelly irritates me about this whole fight... it's a hot button issue and emotion not logic or facts are used to sway people one way or another.... (the brady and million mom march types love dead kids in drive by's etc.) While I agree stuff like this is tragic... you'll find the vast majority of gun crime is committed by people who have illegally obtained the weapon. Completely negating the whole if you have one you're tempted to use it in times of stress argument. Raw numbers again people (and cross check always cross check your numbers)

On top of this there's a raft of other stuff I'd like to say but I'll leave this post at this for now and see if anyone from the opposition can do anything but sling mud and talk about dead kids.

The people that hate Obama really love it when they find these threads, no facts have to be presented at all, a known Email Hoax circles the net and winds up here on ATS. And the Obama bashing bandwagon kicks it into high gear!

Long as it's bashing the president, anything goes right?

Q: Would Senate bill 2099 put a yearly $50 tax on each privately owned firearm?
A: There is no such bill. A chain e-mail containing bogus claims refers to a bill that died more than eight years ago.

H.R.45
Title: To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Rep Rush, Bobby L. [IL-1] (introduced 1/6/2009) Cosponsors (None)
Latest Major Action: 2/9/2009 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.

H.R. 45 died in subcommittee last year.

And last I checked, Obama didn't spell his name R-u-s-h

Old bill from the Clinton Administration. Will never be voted in. The 50 tax was actually for the gun manufacturers. Seen this in several chain emails. Two words - Fact Check.

Everyone is quick to blame Obama, when he is actually no worse than Bush. Both bad, but equally bad. What else do you expect from someone controlled by the CFR.

Your missing the whole point ! Why do you need a gun in the first place ? to protect yourself and your family ? Why maybe because the news and media have fear mongered you into believing there are people out there to get you !

a world full of guns is a world full of fear!

I dont understand why so many people want to own guns , and will use them !
whether or not that person has broken into your home , its still imorale to kill them !

you are then a murderer , you dont need to kill someone to defend yourself.

just because some piece of paper says you can own a gun and you are allowed to use it doesnt make it right to take someones life!

its ridiculous , i just dont understand why so many people in the world are willing to kill each other !

The reason we need guns is, their are countless sadistic psychopaths out there that don't follow stupid gubermint rules.

When the criminals know the public is dis armed the homicides sky rocket. It's been proven countless times.

It would be total chaos. Maybe that's what they really want? Total chaos so they can take over and turn the country into a sicko dictatorship.
