The media I have in mind here especially is mainstream public radio and public television. While they claim to be public and acting in the public's interest, not even supporting members, much less the general public, have any say in the information content of public radio or television. Rather, if you go onto the websites of a mainstream public radio or television station and look up their list of board of trustees you will see a listing of the who's who of the super rich and powerful. I'm thinking they are probably manipulating their so-called public media's information in a manner that will protect and enhance theirs and their cronies interests at the expense of the general public that they claim to be advocating for.

I don't buy that, I think the goal was to make some extra $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'s, pure and simple - Not change the primary scheme, which is work em up -
Yeah. Make some extra money and at the same systematically third worldize the West to 'stabilize' (lower) wages which means more money for them.

It occurred to me recently that a large majority of the electorate in our supposed democracy, if they have a job or in past jobs are not managers or even supervisors. And yet come every election, we effectively throw away our brass ring by not insisting on and then voting for candidates who emphasize worker rights or the rights of the common man in general. And then when we have a dispute with a manager or supervisor, no matter how unfair or wrongly your being treated, what chance does an hourly worker have without some law created by an elected official to ensure fair and just treatment?

Yeah, that is it.
Fortunately people are starting to wake up to this, which is why mainstream media is dying, and forums like ATS are thriving.
The new mentality seems to be, forget about getting a job, start your own business.
A decade ago people were working their tails off in start ups, and some made a lot of money, but in the end, big corporations moved in an screwed everybody.
Find something you can do well, and start your own business is probably the best answer.
Oh well back to work.

- I mean bait switch, denial and fantasy... An easy way to distract? Change discussion?
The USA and it Private sectors are shipping out American jobs by the boatload, the tippy top wages are going up, in comparison to real wages - exponentially. Meanwhile everything is getting more expensive-
So I mean what is the logical motive behind this wave of Red panic???
People are getting wealthier, everyday the money flows, what is the bloody problem?
Really - some insight?
Bush might be leaving office with record-high disapproval ratings in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world, but he has many fans in China. He is depicted in a dozen flattering photographs on display at an exhibit in Beijing marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Contemplating his imminent departure, many Chinese are openly expressing affection toward the man they call Xiao Bush, or "Young Bush," to distinguish him from "Old Bush," the 41st U.S. president.
"Bush made some mistakes in foreign policy, especially with Iraq, but for the Chinese, he had been a true friend," said Mao Baoshu, a retired nuclear specialist who was attending the exhibit Tuesday.
Many Chinese credit the Bush administration's free-trade policies with helping the Chinese economy blossom over the last eight years. They appreciate its efforts to rein in the fiery anti-Beijing rhetoric of former Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian. And Bush's attendance of the opening ceremony of last summer's Olympics, at a time when many world leaders were urging a boycott because of China's human rights record, is viewed with deep gratitude.
"We will never forget that the leader of the most developed country in the world stood up to pressure to come to the Olympics," Mao said.

Actually it is the republicans who preach the free market con who have grown our government ridiculously large in their establishment of a police state to take away our rights.
Stop listening to the radio talk show propagandists. Those people are the scum of the Earth, paid large amounts of money to poison your minds. Clearly Obama is no saint, but he is not the anti-christ either. '
Ask yourselves people!
How many Trillions of dollars in debt did GW add onto government before leaving office?
How bad was the condition of our economy when GS left office?
The last thing in the world anyone should want is these republican nutjobs to ever get back into power.
The people Obama has brought to power are a whole heck of a lot better than the wackos GW put into power.

Absolutely amazing, isn't it?
Our country is flushing down the toilet, and yet in this very thread people are still arguing about democrat/republican, progressive/conservative, which one is evil and which one is destroying our nation...
Can't you fools see that it's all of them? Can't you see that by perpetuating this left-right nonsense you are only playing into their hands?
The truth of the matter is Corporatism (a bastard child of Socialism/Capitalism - Capitalism for the poor/middle class and Socialism for the rich) is what has funneled wealth up to the top 5% in this country. Corporatism is what has led to the collapse of the middle class.
Republicans are lying to you...
Democrats are lying to you...
If we are going to survive as a nation (and at this point, I highly doubt we will make it to 2050), we are going to have to DROP ALL OF THIS BULL# AND ACTUALLY FOCUS ON FIXING THE SYSTEM.
We need serious reforms, not only in the economy but in the very way our government functions. We need to end "career politicians". We need to end the pork-filled spending. We need to end lobbyists. We have to put strong regulations on corporations, and reconfigure the tax system to something we had before, taking the burden off of the middle and upper middle classes and putting it back on the filthy rich and the corporations where it belongs.
Unfortunately, we will never achieve this, because there are deluded people who are afraid of such reforms, and judging by their presence on this site (a place which should attract a crowd of higher-than-average intellect) they make up an enormous percent of the population.
While you idiots blame each other for this mess, the ones in control are squeezing every last dollar out of the failing system, so that they can move to a nice secluded ranch in Paraguay while the US collapses into a third-world nation.
- Great thread Animal. It's a shame more people won't learn from it.
