Re: proclaiming the death of ATS. How seasonal!
My mind wanders to nothern countries and the coming solstice, where doom and gloom prevails until they reach the shortest, darkest day. But fear not: the sun will rise again!
Debunk that one: flat-earth theorists!

Isn't that what BTS is for -- to talk about whatever?
Stricter moderation is needed!

It's on ATS, trial case, sex with minors and is it right, Why not kill yourself and how to shoot your self. Ohh yea, too many threads on Obama, is obama doing the right job, Obama did this, Obama did that, Obama has a dog. And the rest of the subjects that are conspiracy related are just crap compared to what used to be.

My suggestion, as a new user is to simply stop allowing the derailers and jerks to rule your life. They can't survive without your attention, so as they say"stop feeding the trolls".

PS: These threads are getting old,, seriously...

Yes! Thank you.

I would like the ignore list increased from 10 to 20.

OP. I've read your post twice over in order to get a grip on what you're saying, and I've come to a conclusion. Hypothetical situation:

Person A posts a picture of a UFO. Person A strongly believes this to be a UFO, even though it looks like a cloud.

Person B 'debunks' it as a cloud, using other images for comparison in order to make a point.

Person B is naughty for doing so, Person B is the cancer.

That's the general idea I've picked up. If that's not what you were trying to say and I misinterpreted your post, then sincerest apologies. But I think a solid ratio between believers/skeptics/debunkers is necessary, none would function effectively without the other.

I would not mind for some kind of system on write quality conspiracy content or get the hell out. ATS is becoming an OPRA show with winding
groups asking for rights. I can understand gay is not genetic or gay is genetic but talking about the comunity and how it works and how to be or not to be gay has nothing to do with ATS. I'm not talking in general about one specific group but all the people that do this and there are alot of these people. Is it discriminating? yes. This is a conspiracy related site go talk about what bothers you somewhere else. What is more funny is that I have not seen staff around for a while now, they use to get involved in posts and even participate and post along with other users but they are gone, have not seen them around.

Thats because when the staff post, the side that disagrees with them cries blatant favouritism and then the mods gets labelled in threads like these ones.

Sometimes people forget that mods are members too. And, they do not moderate on threads which they are involved in as a poster

You've been a member here for how long and you still don't realize that not all content and threads here are conspiracy oriented??? Perhaps you need to visit the board page and see what is there. Many forums have absolutely nothing to do with any 'conspiracy', and then there's BTS, which you have apparently never visited.

Quite simply, if a topic does not interest you, or you have nothing to say concerning the topic, don't open the thread. I have absolutely no interest in many topics here, but I don't whine about their legitimacy here.

For the love of God(s) people, GROW THE FRAK UP AND START ACTING LIKE THE ADULTS YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!

It's not that, they are gone, have not seen one around for a while.
The site owner and site administrators also, it's maybe why this site is
going down slow because of it's poor quality draging it down.

There use to be stuff like, don;t post garbige, don't hijack the topic with other stuff and stay on topic. Yes it was more restrictive but it keept everything in order. It's also the public signing up these days. Why sign up on ATS if you intend to tell us how you to load a gun, guns alone are just guns and are not part of conspiracy subjects.

The amount of threads on conspiracy are all time low, just take a look at the recent posts section, most of them are related to politics, social events
and why not kill yourself and climate change. It's all we get.

This is also because people open up threads on the same subject posts go in different directions instead of making a topic better like climate change that has the same subject but people repeat same subjects over and over.

It's really the fall of this site, it's not how this site started out in concept.

ATS is not dying, it is very much alive and well and to prove this I'll use the topic of this thread as proof. With topics such as the ones covered here, it is important to have a balance that is to the inclusion of skeptics or "skeppies" as I like to call them. ATS is no stranger to hoaxers and many have come and went...many still here I would wager.

ATS needs skeppies as much as it needs innovative thought because one can't exsist without the other, have a claim? bring proof they say. Some are more apt to "shoot down" theory then others but it should not dissuade one from their beliefs. Take the skeptisim with a grain of salt and don't let it get you down...it's gonna be here even if a saucer landed in the middle of times square and aliens stepped out revealing themselves to awaiting news cameras and hunderds of thousands of people. Some skeppies would still cry "hoax"!

i dont think that particular scenario is the problem. if a person who is debunking a claim is being nice about it, and saying "hey, this is the info i found that seems to challenge your claim, take a look" thats fine. the issue is with people who debunk it and act completely rude about it with this feeling of superiority and being condescending toward other members. for example this is not a good way to debunk a claim "you stupid tool, you have no idea what you're talking about! THIS is the correct answer" and blah blah blah...those particular members are a disease to the site.

its perfectly ok to disagree with people and debate and to try and debunk discussions. but it needs to be done in a polite respectful manner. people here sometimes dont know how to use tact or diplomacy in their replies. that is where i think the problem is.

It's what I'm saying, it use to be something else. Sure you had threds on other topics other than conspiracy but the ratio was in favor of what use to be ATS conspiracy related topics, and good threads of course, not how global warming is a scam over and over again with the same posts in the thread sounding identical of yes it is no it's not.

I beg to differ. I have FSME status which means I also have access to the council pub where mods and FSME's are able to chat. This is always quite an active forum. Plus, if you click on the board tab, you are able to see just how many are online if you go to the bottom opf the page. There are currently only three on, but that makes sense as most of the mods are from the US

If you dont like a post, use the alert button and provide an explanation of why you think its warrants investigation. If that fails to work, use the tab button to find out which mods are on and directly u2u them. They cant be everywhere at once, and need members help, instead of members abuse
This is also because people open up threads on the same subject posts go in different directions instead of making a topic better like climate change that has the same subject but people repeat same subjects over and over.

No, its not, but again use your own discretion. If there is something you are not interested in, simply dont post in it, its not for you or me to say what can and can not be posted. I learnt that lesson a longtime ago

Of course it would be the fault of the gays, although gay-themed threads (seen you there) actually clearly posted by gays make up what percentage of ATS threads?
Jeez and of course everyone these days is so gay-friendly, why on earth would we think there's any kind of threat or conspiracy against us. Silly old us. (Not)
In the US we've been declared "security threats' by McCarthy and the CIA, we are stereotyped and abused with pseudoscience and wacky beliefs, we are killed in Muslim countries, and Uganda said its OK to murder us (with no major objections). We've had bombs in gay nightclubs from Cape town to the US to Israel.
When AIDS appeared people cheered as we died. Oh no, it's all about a gene. Whatever.
I do agree though that the threads become repetitious, and sometimes I feel I could add stuff but I'm tired of it, and don't want to add it all again.
For example, we had two threads on India declaring life on the moon tonight.

And God(s) forbid that we discuss current events here! If it's news worthy, it worth discussing here as well. ATS may have started as a conspiracy only site, but it has grown into something much bigger. It is now a place for members to discuss pretty much anything. I cannot think of a single topic that would not fit somewhere on ATS or BTS.

I would also point out to pepsi78 that the mods are quite active here, just maybe not on the threads that you are interested in. I did alittle snooping into the profile pages of several mods and found many recent posts on many different topics, and hardly a day goes by without finding hellmutt on mutter! Not to mention the fact that it was he who started the 'spiral' thread a few days back!

You know what is the one constant here on ATS? Threads like this one! One is started every couple of months or so...

Hello All
I will only speak for myself here. My motives for joining ATS after lurking for a few years was/is because more and more the current events on our planet are dictating that things are not what they seem nor what we have been told. We live in an exciting time. Science is moving along nicely and more and more bizarre things are beginning to open the doors of truth. I want to be a part of that. ATS is one of the fastest ways to get info. IF a UFO is seen in tin-buck-two at 4 in the morning, you can bet it on ATS by 8am.

There are a lot of very smart people on ATS, people who do the research before posting. People who have a lot to offer. I do understand the concern, that is why I lurked for so long. because of the down right rude mean people who just attack. I just don't like that type of behavior. However, I made up my mind to just ignore the rude ones and what they say. A more advanced mind is one that respects the feelings and rights of others. I just want to be a part of the exploring for the truths and not be attacked for that.

We are at war with dis-information.We must get past the giggle factors and hoaxers who's very job might be to post fake info. Hell for all you know I might be typing this message from the pentagon. ( NOT) Some of the things we talk about on ATS we could be killed for because you can bet there are people out there that do NOT want you to know the truth. Its about money and power and control of the masses.

I just stated that I don't want to single out the gay people on this board and that there are many different flavors here on ATS doing the same thing.

We've had bombs in gay nightclubs from Cape town to the US to Israel.

It's what I;m talking about, it's always the gays, the activists, the women movment, the guys with how do I get down with girls sort of posts and I forgot yes, how do I kill my self. You see, you derailed to another topic, it's a part of what is causing ATS to die out. It's a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

When AIDS appeared people cheered as we died. Oh no, it's all about a gene. Whatever.

Dude don't you get it, I don't care about the gay, what they do , or what they did, not on ATS I don't. I participate in these topics because sometimes there is nothing else to post on and this is the perfect example of why ATS is getting flooded with content like this and it's getting worse.

I could debate with a gay on ATS regarding conspiracy subjects and not
what the gay movment did or did not do.

"the issue is with people who debunk it and act completely rude about it with this feeling of superiority and being condescending toward other members."

Yeah, you can read through people like this from a mile away. The reason they do this may be one of several:

1) they have an agenda to keep the masses in the dark
2) they want to bully and intimidate others from believing or contributing to a theory
3) they have low self-esteem and it makes them feel better about themselves
4) they are catering to the lowest common denominator - stupidity
5) they do not have the maturity, nor the intelligence to make a valid argument

The best way to counteract people like this is to respond to them only when you catch them in a bold faced lie, and thus chip away at their credibility. You have to remember, these people are so accustomed to being dishonest, they will write things and make all sorts of claims, while completely forgetting what they previously wrote.

"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything." -Mark Twain

There are obviously quite a few people who have some serious problems with the truth and are doing their best to make sure it never sees the light of day. Needless to say, widespread lies come with the territory when one is living in a corrupt society.

It has been my experience on ATS that one must have a very open mind and oftentimes be thick skinned. Research the topic thoroughly before posting and if someone provides material, read or watch it all before commenting. If you cannot do this then don't bother commenting.

What I do not appreciate is the personal sniping that goes on when someone does not agree with the position of the poster, and would like to see the mods take a more active roll in controlling those attacks which serve no substantive worth to the discussion.

In general I do appreciate the varying opinions as it does (as another member stated) keep one on their toes.
