I agree with your words exactly. I think it's been very entertaining thread and without the UFO/Ballon fiasco it wouldn't have been much of a day.

It's been good to come back to this thread to see what people have added to the mix. It's just a pity the OP has to shoulder the, dare I say, Humiliation?

On the whole it just goes to show a good "Fake UFO" or "Mislead UFO" video makes for a good thread here on ATS...

I'm still hoping with every inch of me they weren't balloons....

I still stand by my observation that they did NOT behave like balloons, nor did they really look like balloons.

At no stage did I see, or can I see in the videos, the "tether" I was told about that keeps them in place.

I just have to keep an open mind though, and being told they were weather balloons by the "owner" well, I have to also suppose my judgment was off upon viewing them and I have to consider all the possibilities.

Again, I still encourage anyone on ATS with the video analyzing skills and software to study the raw footage. It would be nice if someone could find the "tether" holding them in place so I can get a bit of closure on this

I don't need you to tell me when I've seen enough.
Thanks anyway for your well thought out explanation.
Still epic.

I didn't say anything about what you think you have seen.

It was all about what you had not taken the time to do.

What you posted had not only been addressed by the OP but has also been posted ad nauseam by others who had also not read the rest of the thread.

It is really so pointless when this happens.

Seeing as though you are not a new member, you should really know the ropes by now.

If you have anything new to add to this post it would be great.
But you don't.
My time on these threads has nothing to do with this thread.
If you have a need to attack my opinion please do so in private.
Otherwise lets see what you really think is in this video.
No BS.
It's all you.

The guy that owns the balloons tells you what they are and you are going to CONTINUE to ask ATS to analyze cellphone footage in hopes of proving the person that is there wrong?

Yet another reason not to come to ATS if you are serious about anything.

Ahh man - what a bummer! I hadn't looked at this thread today until now because I was running some system maintenance on my computer.

Echelon I'm sorry to hear that your hopes got messed up by a balloon. Anyone else thinking of Roswell? I know you were very excited. I really thought that the video was very good (considering the cell phone source) and was hoping for the best for you.

Keep trying though man! Just keep your mind open, your eyes to the sky and a good video camera close by at all times.

Best of Luck

The explanation of the weather balloon as actually open up a bunch of new questions about why the balloon is there.

Australian viticulturists don't use weather balloons for weather reports - they use private or local weather stations. What is he using the balloon for?

The tether for this balloon can't be seen on either of the two balloons. Video analysis could be used to verify if it is there or not.

The neighbour didn't say which day it was that he used his balloon so we can't be sure that it was the balloon that we are seeing.

The two balloons were pulled down at the precise time it took for Echelon to go inside and get his fathers camera. Coincidence it may be, but we should no how long it takes to pull down this balloon and compare that to how long Echelon thought he was inside.

But of course, the best verification would be, as I said earlier, for Echelon to go and see the balloon with his own eyes and compare it to his footage.

Seeing as though this is altogether possible and in the interest of "good science" Echelon should, as he said he would, should go and do this.

I know all of this may be flogging a dead horse, however, it all can be done, it's fun, it's interesting and this is ATS ... so lets do it.

Otherwise we way as well just have left this at the the very first of the ubiquitous "This is so CGI" posts

Why does it matter? Would the intentions of the farmer make the balloon less corporeal? No. The balloon would still be there.

How can you be sure it is a balloon?

I can't see a tether in those vids no matter how much I stare and squint at the screen.

So, because it can be shouldn't it be analysed?

The weather balloon is just over the fence at the neighbours place.

So, because he can, shouldn't Echelon go and have a look at it?

As good sceptic, my answer to this is yes.

To me this really seems like grasping for straws. The guy said he was using it that week and that it was saucer shaped.

I agree here. I would like to see some close up stills of the balloon. I would almost think it was intentionally shaped like a UFO.

Yeah ... I know ... but, for once, I would like to see a really thorough investigation, especially as it can be done.

Most footage posted by our members is either inconclusive or ridiculously obvious and rarely do we actually have chance to have them physically investigated.

I would like to see this be given the full treatment.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

That is why.

Sometimes it's just a weather balloon.

Gees mate, at least be a bit a little bit sceptical or someone might think that you believe UFO's don't exist.

Photo's or the balloon doesn't exist ...

Hank, I agree ... sometimes it is just a balloon ... but isn't nice to be really, really sure?

Have you?

Sorry flyingfish, I am not exactly sure what you mean.

If you click on "thread" under my posts, you will be able to see all my other posts without having to scroll through the whole thread

Did that help you with your question?

I actually posted it because I was convinced I had seen something inexplicable, and had the footage to prove it.

I guess some people are going to say I knew all along, I didn't.
I guess I should have looked into this and called around and asked my neighbors BEFORE becoming excited and deciding to post it online for people to see and get equally excited.

It was my honest mistake and poor judgment, I have not taken anyone for a deliberate ride. It just turns out to be a weather monitoring balloon, something I have come to learn last last night so I am sorry

[edit on 25-11-2009 by Echelon117]

You have nothing to be sorry for. I firmly believe you were genuine in your intent to provide a decent video of something unexplainable, and you even had the tenacity to keep rational in the face of outright rudeness (imo) and even further went to an extreme most people would not have gone to, and investigated it further.

Sure as hell beats the "Hey that rock must be a skull on mars!" threads.

If nothing more than this thread should serve to provide others with the manner in which to go about posting things.

Kudos Kadaitcha!

One quick suggestion: If you see a UFO and you do not have a high quality camera and knowledge on how to use it, just don't bother flipping open your cellphone to film it - enjoy the sighting and keep it to yourself.

Low res crap is never going to be proof for this kind of information. Anyone who falls for it wants to believe more than they want to find out the truth.

Have a good day,

Yes, your expertise was required at this stage of the thread.

Thank you for the insight.

No.
I still need to know why you are harboring this thread?
Why are so invested.
You act like you have some information.
But I get nothing but something I have posted.
I want to grab you by the ankles and see what falls out.
