As far as I know, there has been two news articles about the situation in Ukraine here in Norway. The virus is described as "one that attacks lungs, and resembles the swine flu".

By the way, you know that alcohol over about 45% concentration can be used as an antiseptic? Here, we have a drink called "slivovitz", which is plum brandy, and the stuff they make in the country here is around 70% to 80% alcohol.

See if you can get hold of some. The locals should know it by a very similar name. Ask older people. They know where there are people who have it for sale. Here, it is tradition in the country to drink a small glass every morning in winter to keep colds and flu away. (We also do but not every morning...) Not sure of the medical veracity, but I should think it will kill any bugs on the way down to your stomach at least.

I'm not kidding. Please see if anyone has some. Worth a try.

I have not seen it in years, but it was a small town that got infected, and the dead had "melted" organs.

They were articles in mainstream news? Well, at least that is something! We did a quick survey earlier today and got negative reports from members in Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden. And apparently there is nothing in the msm in the US.

If anyone has information of msm reports in the US then please let us know. It's quite scary in a way that they have not been reporting this at all.

Is this happening in other countries as well? Are deaths rising or unusual symptoms. Is there a post on unusual syptoms of swine flu in different areas. If this is really relate to the swine flu I doubt it will just happen in the Ukarine.

Ok some more info 81000 in Ukraine are sick out of a population of 45million (approx) Mostly in western Ukraine. And 35000 are children. My friend just said it was on TV.

A couple of points here, you can take them for what they are worth.

1. "pneumonic plague" is as has been pointed out a bacterial infection using the common definition these days. I can be treated with antibiotics however has a 90% case mortality rate untreated. Pneumonic denotes the lungs, plague in historical usage denoted a fare reaching lethal infection. The case mortality rates sighted do not agree with the current usage of "pneumonic plague". This may be due to the usage in the countries that are reporting or just bad reporting.

2. In the 1918 flu pandemic the first wave of the flu was about what we saw with the first wave with the swine flu. The second and third waves of the 1918 flu were where the case mortality rates went through the roof. This is due to selective pressures on the virus. These include genetic drift of the RNA or it can be due to co-infection with another virus that leads to recombination with the pick up of differing genes. Selective forces on the N1H1 would include anti-viral treatments in the population and mismatched vacines. If this were the case the current vacines being produced would have low effectiveness in providing protection due to the mutation (genetic drift/recombination) of the current strain of N1H1 in circulation.

3. The case mortality rate in the 1918 pandemic was high, however there were very few effective over the counter drugs at that time and the overall effectiveness of hospital care was much much lower. Also the general health of the population was lower due to health habits, eating habits, and primary health care.

I have been asking around from my Russian friends and they claim it to be just election trick. Still though, here we have someone who has been in ATS for quite a while reporting something totally different. 2 persons giving information about it at the moment.. But there's not much what we have about it.

About lungs melting in 1-2 days ..that's hardcore, I can't imagine anything that really would cause that. Any suggestions?

So is this happening beyond the ternopil area as well? I know that city has a population of 221,300. This is why it seemed so drastic because if 81,000 are infected out of 221,300 that is 37%! Additionally if 50 people have died out of 81,000 infected that is a 6% mortality rate that is much higher than any flu in known history.

Absolutly nothing on Swedish MSM....checked three of them.

I don't believe it.

IF this 'unknown' flu virus was the one they were REALLY afraid of, instead of the 'swine' flu, why not just say so?

I don't have to tell anyone, anywhere in the world, just how much they have hyped the 'swine', telling us how deadly it is/will be, threatening thousand upon thousand of deaths, even at one point, hundreds of thousands.

If the 'new' flu is the real threat, and has been all along, why people imagine they haven't told us about this other new flu yet?

What....in case we get worried?!! They have been trying to scare the living daylights out of people around the world for the last six months over sine flu, so do you guys really think they wouldn't tell us in case we are frightened?!

No...this may be third time 'lucky' for them, seeing as the bird/bird&swine flu hasn't had the desired effect, but there is no way on this earth, that they would keep this to themselves. If they knew they would be telling us all horror stories, so we all trot along to get vaccinated...just like the swine flu.

I have a hand sanitizer with alcohol. But its nearly finished. In ukraine we have Absent, very high alcohol drink. Have some in my fridge. Once my hand wash runs out will use that...

My apologies to the OP and other members if I seem to be hogging the thread. I sincerely don't want to look that way. Its just that I've been online with this all day and also last night.

There are reports in the mainstream media in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and now in Norway. Members earlier stated no reports in the UK in the msm, or in the other places I mentioned earlier.

It's a matter of where you are. It was even in our main papers here this morning. Serious papers I mean, not just the tabloids.

So -- why not in "the west"?

We'd all love to know. I cannot believe that they simply don't know about it.

My wife has just come in to tell me that on Czech TV 24 (one of our state-run digital channels, not a commercial channel), they have just reported that the death toll from this mystery infection in the Ukraine now stands at 48.

So, if we are getting reports of this on our dry-as-dust state TV, why aren't western media breathing a word?

You are very right to ask and I think we'd ALL love to know.

Is there any way to hassle question the major msm as to why they are not airing this story?

Also have in mind Obama declaring state of emergency..for what?! Now we know, they are afraid of something terrible, Norway has a mutation, China has a situation like Ukraina...
They know something we do not. Thats it!
