So Ukraine is chosen for the release of the "second wave" that we have been warned about. Data coming out is confusing, but they have clearly said this is an influenza virus, a deadly new one made from 3 others affecting the worst cases. Of course the people saying this could be mistaken, or those not yet diagnosed may have something else, but I'm still running with the influenza explanation.

In what way are they saying opposite things? People need to be able to understand the basic concepts here - this isn't rocket science.

The two quotes you just referenced do not conflict with each other. It is not pneumonia, death is caused by a virus, so antibiotics are at best ineffective - most likely they will exacerbate the problem by lowering immunity.

The term 'pneumonic plague' does not infer that it is pneumonia, nor does it necessarily infer that it is not a virus. The term pneumonic plague is a very general term that describes a virulent disease that attacks the lungs - it means nothing more. There is a very specific interpretation, but it is obviously being used in the general sense in the article, not in that specific medical sense.

With all the different information going around and a media blackout here in the states, what the hell can any of us know? I'm frustrated and have no idea what it is. The way things are going, it's going to turn out to be no doubt terrible for the Ukraine (even if not one more person dies) but maybe nothing much to worry about for the rest of the world. Pretty much every thread I've read on this site usually ends up to be less than made out to be.
Then again, maybe this is the worst thing to happen in my lifetime. Who knows?

I suggest you make some preparations - if it is nothing, then you wasted some time - if it is as dangerous as it appears, you may have wasted your life.

One recent one also said that the virus could enter via eyes.
If I am not mistaken the report above was quoted as coming from a Scientist in the Lviv region.
