For those wondering....the "UFO" shape significance.
The balloon is a storm weather tracker. Apparently the father is a storm chaser (popular here in CO).

He will be fine with a facinating story to tell. I think he is in there from the weight on 1 side of it but a down wind should be pushing down on him gently now to start his decent. His dad man, smh.

they said they thought there was no relation to tracking weather with the object the kids in. Its slowing bad it looks like it may start to topple before long

While the creator of the balloon does enjoy chasing storms, his website says the balloon is an alternative to fighting traffic to and from work.

Hi there, thought I would drop by and give you a CNN update of this story.

(CNN) -- Officials are trying to rescue a 6-year-old boy who climbed into a balloon-like experimental aircraft built by his parents and floated into the sky over eastern Colorado.


The dome-shaped balloon is 20 feet long and 5 feet high, Larimer County Sheriff's Office says.

1 of 2 Margie Martinez of the Weld County Sheriff's Office said a sibling saw the boy climb into the basket before the balloon took off. Since the door on the balloon was unlocked, Martinez said it's possible the boy had fallen out.

Someone said the brother may have seen the boy in it fall out--but that isn't confirmed. To me, it looks like the boy is in it, because of the weight on one side...
