Whole nother topic but Reagan and Buzz have alot in common believe it or not. There are those who will say negative things about Reagan and that is fine, he did things like everyone else on earth that can be disputed.

Please keep on topic though, a frail mind does not equate to sensless babble. Buzz was on topic and fully capable of thought during his CSPAN interview, he did not drift nor stray off topic and he took a very serious and personal stand with his words.

If you know Buzz then you know watching that interview he was at his best and the words he said there, at the very least rang true for me.

As far as what happened afterward, days later on the navy ship, well... They seemed contrived and planned. Take from it what you will but use your own judgement.

I distinctly heard Buzz Aldrin say in a BBC interview during June, that Mars was inhabitable, during a discussion about a manned mission there. It was on a programme called Newsnight. Obviously this was before was beforet he current comments, strange no one else picked up on it at the time!

No, Mars is not suitable for human life. I don't care what anyone tells you this is just not true.

There is a chance that there are places below the surface that may hold more earth like conditions and would be "easier" to live in but Mars is not and would not be without human intervention a place we could live in the same manner we do on Earth.

he was telling the truth the second time when he said aliens put it there. the first time he started to say the truth then gave some copout, 'god' put it there excuse. the second time he said the real truth. everyone laughed (becuz people are obviously stupid), so he laughed too. cuz it was apparant people cant handle the truth. or becuz he was told to laugh so people wudnt be forced to face the truth.

he/nasa is releasing info, without making too many waves. saying it but not saying it; or probably testing public reaction.

maybe if people reacted differently (instead of laughing) they wud start to release more info. maybe. (maybe not too, who knows). to me the laughter just shows people cant cope with the idea. becuz really, whats funny about a monolith on phobos that aliens put htere? i cant see anything funny about it really. i would have asked him why he was talking about it; or joking about it, at all.

He did not really say Mars is habitable. He said he believes that it is more habitable than the Moon. That establishing a permanent presence on Mars may be easier than doing so on the Moon.

"It is the only other habitable planet," he told Newsnight. "We have sent many rovers there and we have found conditions there that I feel can be made suitable for human existence much easier than the Moon can."

He does acknowledge the existence of the monolith however he was joking about the egypt part, he wanted to make fun of the ancient astronaut theory. He admitted to several "anomalies" in space. We have revealed that MAN built the pyramids anyway

If this was meant as a joke then it does sound as a deflection technique as what a strange joke to make. Most people probably haven't even heard of
Phobus or even know mars had a moon so a very odd thing to come out with unless he is being serious or trying to deflect attention.

Anyone here about the odd shaped rock down a crevasse on one of jupiters moon europa hahahah that is another good one,odd

Buzz you forgot about the monolith that is sitting on the seabed off the west coast of canada in the pacific ocean. The us navy knows about the Monolith and the infomation about it and its location but unfortunatly all that infomation was destroyed in the attack on the pentagon in the 9/11 attack. Some one wanted that location to stay very secret.

It was Buzz Balboa or Rocky Alrdrin doing the dirty muscle work on a loud mouth reporter and Ill tell ya what, if you call him a lier or a coward to his face, you better be prepared to duck, he has a hell of a right cross.

The Buzz Aldrin punch, view here

One small punch from a man, one giant punch from mankind!

Now I don't mind people having an opinion - but that loudmouth got close to what he deserved - he actually deserved a six punch combo, rounded out with a head butt onto the street in front of an oncoming bus.

Really... I heard apparantly it only took them 22 years as well..... which would have worked out that those crazy egyptians would have had to have been working non-stop around the clock for 22 years.... and building the pyramid at the rate of a polishing, lifting, carrying and installed a massive stone block every 9 seconds

Next theory.

Wouldn't say he deserved it... all Bart Sibrel wanted was to have Buzz Aldrin put his hand on the bible and swear under oath that he had actually walked on the moon and if he did he would never question him again.

Of course Buzz refused because if he did swear on the bible and he didn't walk on the moon.... he would have committed an act of treason and would spend the rest of his life rotting away in a jail cell.

It was just easier to hit Bart Sibrel. Neil Armstrong did the same thing... albeit he didn't hit Sibrel... he just refused to swear on the bible.

Would have thought it would have been a fairly easy thing to do if you actually had walked on the moon and had nothing to fear by swearong on it.

I don't think it is appropriate to compel or demand that anyone swear on a bible just to satisfy his or her personal doubts ... unless it is within the confines of testimony as in a Court of Law.
It's rude and completely unprofessional, IMHO.

If the truth is not what Buzz, or anyone claims it to be ... then do what a real journalist would do ... find other, verifiable and corroborating sources and run the story on those merits.

Oh, I forgot ... they don't teach objectivity in college anymore, do they?
Shame, that.

Edited to ask this question:
Since when is not telling the truth after swearing on the bible (other than being sworn in by the Bailiff in a Court of Law) a criminal offense?
Did I miss another unpublicized addition to the Law books or is the assumption that if a journalist, or any citizen makes another person swear on the bible and you lie, some funky Judge can throw you in jail.

("The Judge sure is funky" - Bull & The Matadors 1968)

Interesting, I come up with different numbers. 2.3 million blocks over 20 years = around 1.15 million blocks per year. That would equal about 315.0685 blocks per year, if they worked every day of the year. If they worked only 13 hours a day leaving 11 hours for sleep or eating or whatever they would have to install 24.23604 blocks every hour which is a little less than ½ a block every minute or 1 block every 2 minutes, no where near 1 blocks every 9 seconds, and could be quite manageable, especially if they had a system in place. If they worked around the clock rotating workers, you could add back in the 11 hours that I removed, giving them even more time and less blocks to place per hour.

My math may be off, but I do not believe it is.
