POV usually stands for point of view.
I'm working on reading this thread but that's going to take days. Just getting to page 10 i've already got a ton of bookmarked webpages to check
out, and lots of information to keep in the back of my mind.
Well I had what I think was my first notable OOBE experience a few nights ago. I've been trying to do this casually for about a year, but I've
always read up on it some, and I've read a few parts of Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics.
Before I go into my experience because it will be long, I just have to say that I totally believe in this OOBE stuff. I've always thought it
possible because of my the lucid dreaming experiences. I've come to two possibilities for myself: either the experience is truly taking place
outside of the body, or our minds are (for lack of a better word) omniscent, and can under the right circumstances produce what is going on in places
our senses would simply not possibly tell, while we travel to them in OOBE.
This thread is awesome and there is some good reading here. If you are interested in my recent experience then read on. If you are interested in
OOBE check out the thread, especially the first 7 pages at least, do yourself a favor. I'm working on all of it now.
My experience began with an evening of napping after work. I got up from my nap and a few hours later it was time for bed. I was a little groggy and
sleepy, but I was not tired. I was just so relaxed and in a great mood, that I just wanted to go back to sleep. Didn't have a care in the world.
So I was sleeping really lightly, having a very weak dream that I couldn't move much in or see well, but there was dialogue in the dream and things
going on. I woke up from it when it felt like something had weakly grabbed my leg, and then let go. I was in such a great mood that this did not
scare me one bit, my heartbeat and breathing didn't increase or anything, and besides it really felt harmless.
After going back to sleep I went back to that dream, and I got tired of it, because I couldn't do anything. So I tried to force myself to move and
this brought my conciousness out of the dream and back to my body. Then I decided to try to leave my body, I can usually do it, but I don't gain
eyesight or any control. So I did and I actually gained eyesight. I went back into my body, and right back out, almost as if I had bounced off.
I regained my eyesight and I went up through the ceiling and out through the roof at an angle into my front yard. Once outside I began to fall to the
ground very slowly. I was disoriented and everything was upside down, but as I came towards the ground I righted myself and my perceptions, and soon
my feet were touching the ground.
I remembered the warnings of trying to do to much on the first OOBE, so my priority soon became to get back safely, and in a way to help me recall the
experience. I thought I had a little bit more time, so I began to walk towards the road, and then to fly sortof, but I couldn't move fast. Then I
remembered the warnings again and I really didn't want to lose this experience, so I stopped.
I looked back at my house as if to go back, and then I remembered to look for the silver cord. After looking for it, it came into view, and soon it
was brighter and thicker. I grabbed it and it felt like some form of energy. It was like it was completely taught. It made a noise when I let go of
it like a messed up guitar string.
I then grew worried and remembered that once I got worried my body would go flying back, so I floated up on my back and waiting for that to happen.
Nothing happened.. So I righted myself and began to go back on foot. Next thing I knew I was on the other side of my house, and so I decided to come
through a window there. Then I went through a closed doorway to get into the hall, and through my closed doorway to my bedroom. Then I floated up
and sort of crouching into a ball, I tumbled slowly towards my sleeping body. I did not bother to look at myself sleeping, I didn't need any
excitement at that point, I just wanted to remember what I had done so far.
One thing that really stands out to me is that the first door I came through (after the window) is almost always left open. I soon realized that this
error would prove that this was purely a hallucination or dream. I went to check the door and it was in fact shut that night, so my experience
checked out. Can you imagine how that felt?
I could already barely believe it happened as I sat up in bed writing down my experiences, but to see that door shut was even more... unbelievable.
I think the main reason I succeeded was my carefree attitude on that night. After thinking about it and reading some more I really think it was an
OOBE. I used to think OOBEs have many hard characteristics, but the more I read the more subjective I see they are.
