I wonder who is monitoring the 9-11 conspiracy? I doubt the Chinese are?

I would be curious to see how many China, Russia, Iran, Venezuelan , North Korea and Afghanistan IP addresses are linked to this site. Is there a way to find out?

Yes I agree. Dont we all know, if the truth was known China and Russia would love to see the US blown off the face of the earth.

Some think since they created the dollar stores , with cheap products we are great friends. Their Army out trumps ours 100 fold.

Maybe they left after the Olympics. I got a ton of anti-Chinese joke emails before the Olympics but they all stopped after.

Interesting question, glad you brought it up.

Let me tell you a little about our organization.

Every disinfo agent on the payroll gets three weeks paid vacation per year, paid leave for family emergencies or parenthood, a 401k plan that can't be beat, stocks & bonds, and a nice cottage on a private lake to retire to. Nice area, too - near a small town, so you can drive in and remark on how quaint things are. Very scenic.

Anyway, that's just a few of the perqs. If you're interested in signing up, just say so. Not here on the forum, just out loud. Speak into the lamp, the one your cat Mittens just walked past.

After all, we're already watching you...

Did I mention the dental plan?

Well, obviously this subject should attract all of the so-called "agents"....in fact, I think many are already trying to deflect attention!

I've worked in law enforcement before and even acted "undercover." When suspected, the #1 Rule is: Lay Low!

Why would this thread attract disinfo agents? It would not help them one bit to try to dissuade an accuser, and it would attract undue attention otherwise.

Any "agent" who participates in this thread, or tries "to deflect attention," should be fired.

Putting a name out (as a critic) in this thread would make absolutley no sense. In fact, the opposite seems more likely -- they would participate and point to others as suspects or just agree wholeheartedly.

But, the safest course would be to just lay low and let speculators speculate.

A "paid dis-info agent" would agree with the mindset of those paying them, else they would not have received the job to begin with.

I doubt a conscience change would happen, resulting in a backwards regression of "dis-info", just because a check is not coming in anymore.

You will never know who they/we/he/she is, until they are knocking on your door.

I remember reading an article in the news somewhere about the military doing this very thing - going online into web forums and posting to influence reader's positions and views on certain subjects - makes sense to me.

"Posting to influence" is what EVERYONE does on ATS! It is not "disinfo."

If that were true, there'd be no point in having a "discussion" forum, except to congratulate each other on being so 'right.'

Thats also an opinion I sort of hold. Why would anyone just up, raise their hand and say "Oh yeah, my bad, I killed Professor Plum in the dining room with the candle-stick"

...though that said, its amazing what a change of conscience, of life direction can do.
In my line of work I work alongside a number of people who would have previously been the LAST people you'd think would grow a conscience and effectively 'change their ways'. People who were murderers, hardened Gang Members, career-criminals....real bad buggers who had done some real nasty crap like it was an everyday thing - for them it was an everyday thing.

Yet now they are some of the most gentle, caring, loving and compassionate guys you could meet and work hard to help others less fortunate.

...so who knows the minds of Man...and just how much we can also switch our paths...

...its a two-bit board that is by far the largest of its type on the entire internet...

...however, that said, size doesn't equate to quality/worth...McDonalds is a HUGE burger franchise and I personally think some days I'd be more inclined to eat the box rather than the burger within it...

Sorry, have to disagree. That would be true if a person was only trying to back up their own beliefs. A seeker of knowledge listens to other beliefs and challenges their own. See my siggy.

A few of my own beliefs have changed due to what has been discussed here and I thank the membership for that. ATS is a platform BUT it's not anyones given platform. As with all things, you get out of it what you put into it. You look at thing constructively and you will get constructive feedback. You are looking to just back up your own preconceived theories and that's what you'll get. Personally I see the former as a building experience. I won't post as what I think about the second. Against the T&C.

A dis-info agent would have to be sly, they would have to go along with the theory to get on the theorists good side to alleviate suspicion, then subliminally plant memes, and doubts.

They would not be in you face deniers, this would make them look suspicious.

Plus what makes people so sure some CT poster are not the enemy or foreign agents seeking to spread discord and distrust, pitting American against American?

Pitting the world against Americans.

Divide and conquer

If you think you know who they are or that they are obvious, you are most likely wrong.

Sly, as in posts good enough to even have "moderators" agree with their posts?

I feel a true "dis-info" agent would feel untouchable in this kind of "paranoid" environment, and not worry about being "ousted", just for the simple fact of the kind of posts that are here on a daily basis.

Just a side note, we don't moderate ATS by what we agree or don't agree with. We do it by using the T&C. In fact we seldom ALL agree on anything. We're individuals just like you.

Sorry, thought it needed to be said.

I think I may have worded that wrong ( I blame the pain-killers), I only used "moderators" as an example, BECAUSE you are all just like us.

Even when just going by the "T&C", most moderators still will inject their own feelings and viewpoints.

When a regular poster, or even visitor sees this.... they think, well, if a "mod" can agree with this person, he must be at least partly on the level.

Disinformation is false or inaccurate information that is spread deliberately. *

What is the difference between that and false information that is spread via other less nefarious means?

NONE AT ALL ...

... at least not to a person with sound reasoning, independent thought, and the ambition to do their own research. I'd like to think that most ATS members fall under this category and we are the least likely to fall for such distractions. After all, this is presumably what attracted us to ATS in the first place.

So as I said before, bring it on, we've seen it all before and I'm quite sure we can handle it.

What about mods agreeing?

anyway, they would have to worry about being ousted, or they couldn't accomplish anything.

IMO, there are more disinfo agents here on ATS than on any other forum on the net.
And many of them are in Mod positions.

LOL

Well considering I have never been on Meds, but you are accusing me of being on them, is funny!

Oh, so asking a question of which there is proof of and others here have even said there are agents that come here - is saying I need meds?

Now this type of posting is exactly what I have posted about - in people trying to derail a thread.

The post: Gets totally off subject and it is an attack on the OP - to try and create discredit and doubt of the OP for asking a question. Considering the question is not some weird off hand completely - far out question, there is no reason to do a personal attack on the person who started the thread and asked the question.

In replying to Alien's posting, implying that "someone" thinks they warrant a "shadow squad" - I can't speak for everyone here but I can't imagine anyone feels that way - I know I definitely don't.

I do think - and have had people tell me - in private messages - they have had someone pestering them too - as I had one time. Were those people just kids trying to irk the other person? Who knows - but since others have had and experience as I had once - it probably is just kids - having fun. I think, once they are called out - on what they are doing - it doesn't happen anymore. Guess it is like kids - playing "ding dong ditch" - doing things just to irrate the other person.

The proof you speak of falls far short of any sort of standards. Someone on the board saying that there were disinfo agents and govt agents lurking on these boards. How is that proof?

The thing that is absurd to me, is the notion that some people have here that the govt cares or is scared of a tiny board like this. While I am sure the vast majority of people on this board are sane and well intentioned, there are a great deal will ill intentions and not mentally stable. It is people like these that attach a stigma to boards such as these and hence render them as non threatening.

The farthest I could see any govt monitoring going is looking out for threats against the govt or President on boards such as this, from the aforementioned unstable people. But in terms of message and content, I think you greatly over exaggerate the importance the govt sees in a board such as this.

There was a thread about disinfo agents a few months back, and a very well known ATSer admitted he/she use to be a paid disinfo agent, it was very interesting to read. They no longer do it as they found it morally quite hard, but I respected their admitting the truth,.
Not sure I should 'out' them on this particular thread without their OK.
But you got quite an idea into how they recruit and what they ask you to do re disinfo...
thats my 2 cents...they are out there....

That would be RFBurns. He is admirable and quite open about his past involvements.

He hasn't been around in awhile. He defeated Jim Oberg in the sts-114 thread and then moved on to other forums.

We are lucky he is now on our side.

Edit: You should go ahead and link to the thread you mentioned - it is relevant and has much useful information.

RF's smack down of Oberg was brillaint! I was wandering what happened to RF, i miss his posts, and I hope he comes back to ATS.
