I think it's very equatable to aliens seeing man in space for the first time. Back then you didn't see man drifting through space like deer walking through a field.

yeah, to see with, but if i was driving a land cruiser through the savana trying to spot hyenas in their natural habitat i'ld use night vision and turn the headlights off.
