Great Horny Toads! There's a conspiracy to try to understand and explain the natural world in terms of natural processes using reason and evidence!

Well, from what I gather, there is a devious cabal of scientists and evolutionists who are not sufficiently happy with facts like humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor, but also want the mechanistic theory underpinning such evolution labelled as 'fact'.

I think I'd 'worry' about getting the facts over to the ignorant creationist hordes first.

You're the one who claimed there is a conspiracy - in the OP.

I admit I'm new around here, is there something from before that I missed or something like that because you're not making any sense.

My statements were not insults. They were verifiable observations.

None of my statements were insults on your beliefs.

Please don't quote the Bible to me. Unless I'm missing your point?

if its not making sene you have it just fine

its a failure to see a simple structure of language

evolution is a fact

eolution is a theory

are both valid statements becasue the context the word evolution is used in is different

but the op thinks saying evolution is a thoery is EXACTLY the same as saying the theory of evolution is a fact

what we have here is a failure of the imagination and poor grasp of language and context usage

That's the gist I get as well. Heaven forbid.

But I forgot, the Enlightenment was an Illuminati plot and needs to be rolled back. Let's go back to the good old days of churches and priests telling us everything we need to know.

Bullhonky, you just have nothing to stand on. Make your point in a couple of simple sentences or admit you're jerking us all around.

I think having such rules would be dangerous. Discussing the validity of people's beliefs can be viewed as an insult to many.

To some muslims even discussing the potentially pedophilic nature of Mo is an insult. To some christians, arguing Jesus was a liar and fraud would be an insult.

I think it really means 'be nice to people'. I've always thought ideas and beliefs were fair game within reason. Be a pretty naff forum otherwise.

But I ignore the insults that come my way, I tend to find them funny. Hence, your attempted insult earlier produced a laugh.

calling someone dense is an insult

calling someone ignorant is an insult

really theres a none degrading way to call someone ignorant?

Please don't quote the Bible to me. Unless I'm missing your point?

i better quote it some more then the last 7 pages have been a failure grasping the point of context usage for the word evolution

OK.

Evolution isn't a theory.
Evolution is a fact.
The Theory of Evolution explains the verifiable observation or fact that is Evolution.
The Theory and the Fact are not interchangeble.

Evolution is NOT a Theory AND a Fact.

Anyone who says different has been brainwashed by science.

Does that sum my views up for you? Nothing to do with Evolution or Creationism. It has to do with people saying "The Theory of Evolution is fact".

so you agree that your failing to realise you can use the word evolution in reference to either the fact OR the theory as every scientific link you have given and every comment we have made has done

and none of them or us are infact being dumb enough to confuse the context infact we are making very clear attempts to differencciate the two contexts

Aye, appears all that's left now is to whine that he thinks evolution can be fact, but can't be theory.

Scientists disagree. No real conspiracy, just someone who can't handle the complexity inherent to language that other people take in their stride.

Although, making a clear distinction between evolution as fact and evolution as theory is apparently the devious method of this pseudoconspiracy.

Oh well, was a decent harvest.

now what happens if people swap 'theory of evolution' for just 'evolution' in a setance as is acceptable as the word has two differing context usages ... that would be?

theory of evolution = evolution is a theory

see theres one context, thats the context where evolution i used instead of thoery of evolution .. in the same way as saying tv instead of television an ONLY refers to the theory that binds the fact together like a good theory should

now the second context is evolution is a fact .. referring to the observed measured recorded trested facts .. but not the theory

see it really quite simple

That again is your opinion.

I say there is only ONE context that Evolution can be used in. So do the Scientific Dictionary's.

evolution.berkeley.edu...
The definition
Biological evolution, simply put, is descent with modification.

Where do you see the word theory there?

That is my opinion.
