You have a lot of what if scenarios. I can do that too.

What if a kid reads a thread about an astroid on a collison course with Earth and he kills himself?

What if someone else reads a thread about Aliens taking over the world, so the reader moves to Antarctica in fear of enslavement and is eaten by a polar bear?

Then there is nothing those parents could do to ATS. However, because drugs are illegal, they have legal choices. That's the difference, your if's won't change my explanation in any way.

Guys, this is a public site. IT relies on taste and quality to promote itself amongst people and its advertisers.

If the rules say no stupid talk of drugs, follow them.. its simple.

If you cant, then leave... thats simple too.

What I dont understand is why everyones having a go at SO,

He brought us this fantastic site, im happy to be a member here, if he says no drugs, then thats what ill abide by.

If you dont like it, go make your own site, go promote it yourself and see how long it remains worthwhile, if you allow free slather on anything.

Grow up!

No offense to you but your an idiot. Burger King....Really? I didn't know that was the stoner hangout lol. Anyway good job generalizing. Get a life.

No offense taken. Perhaps you wouldn't have called me an idiot if I mentioned Taco Bell. Oops. Did I just generalize again? The stoners I knew in college seemed to hang out at both restaurants when they suddenly became hungry. Wendy's too. In those days Wendy's still had the all you can eat Super Bar.

"Get a Life" Hmmm... Stoners aren't very witty.

Geez and is there any wonder that there is such a fuss around this when ignorant folks like this have a say and those with some wisdom and knowledge are quelled.

Ya know, come to think of it, YOU sound just like this little kid I fired for being obnoxious and worthless....and he wasn't even a stoner...go figure.

Just another case of a sheep obeying the voice of their master, you know, the one that made reefer madness....

So, get a clue and pay some attention. Or don't and continue on as you have...ignorant and little.

No wonder i have never engaged my time in 'Chat'...
it would be like going to a teen venue specializing in the pop-music,
(bubble-gum is what they used to call it)
not saying that's bad--- just not most peoples level of engagement
regardless of age or mental capacity...

weed it out, burgermeister

If people could talk about the drugs in the context that are not against the T&C then this wouldn't be a problem. The term idiot stoner is not the blanket term some are making it out to be. If you are the ones that are talking about your personal use for the high and not the conspiracy that involves the substance then at that point in time you became an idiot stoner not before and not after, although people will see that you tend to do that.

SO and the rest of the Admin only want to keep this site available to as many people possible. Thus keeping the drug topic mature it is not as likely to be picked up by the filters. Then certain employers that use various filters block access to ATS and less people get their chance to be here.

As far as chat goes it is no different than the boards when it comes to the T&C. People taking advantage of the lack of mods is childish and disrespectful to the Admins. No one wants to hear about what you did when you was high sorry, get over it.

I've read alot of comments from members that state in one thought they abide by the rules, yadda, yadda.
Then add " not a one liner" to their post, as if.
It is this sort of circumvention of t&c that is being reacted to.
A bit more benign, but a circumvention, nonetheless.
I'm no angel and I've gotten my hands soiled in chat and on the forums, and in ALL instances, I was reprimanded with posting bans, point removals, and even a BAN, pending further review by the officials.
I never took it personal and discussed it with a mod or owner, and, looky, I survived.
What I'm saying is this isn't my website, I am a guest and when things get to be too much, I was asked to leave just as any of us would with an unruly guest at any of our homes.
I will say, though, I really enjoyed chat and am disappointed in the owners course of action, look forward to the re-opening of chat with bated (cat) breath.

Just to add, lest I get any hate mail, I wasn't on chat the night in question.
Thank God

How many times have you idiots been told!!!! Holy, jumping,Jesus Christ!!! If drugs are not pertinent to a discussion, DON'T EVEN MENTION THEM!!!! HOW HARD IS THAT FOR LUGHEADS TO UNDERSTAND!!!!

I like how you singled me out. Considering I've never once made mention of any drugs on this site and have never wasted my time in any chatroom. The point being, more and more rules are getting put in place for ridiculous reasons. I'm waitin for an ats issued patriot act to surface.

All these attacks on "idiot stoners" lately, but ATS of all groups of people is just going to allow hemp and it's industrial/economic/agricultural implications to be grouped in with this bunch of idiots? Even though it's basically impossible to actually get stoned on it?

Denying ignorance is a joke.

I can't believe this got 7 pages!

Look, the way i like to view it is this: This web sight is a private enterprise. As such all things discussed should be at the discretion of the owners/operators of the websight. As such freedom of speach is a mute point becasue they can make their own rules. You don't like it then don't play the game.

Bottom line, the Overlord says no more drugs than don't talk about drugs. That surely doesn't mean hint at talking about drugs, and that surely doesn't mean go talk about getting stoned in the live chat!

I think the mojority of faithful ATSers understand this and see that it's no big deal, and is better for the websight. This is and will always be (i hope) a conspiracy sight. And it's one of the best available.

I don't think this is a problem at all. If users want to continue talking the drug speak there are many other web sights dedicated completly to it. I also support the use of the al powerful BAN. If people keep pushing the issue a permanent ban will certainly keep them hushed.

Good job ATS staff and FM's.

Ed-- This also might clear up some room in RATS for something truly constructive, instead of "another weed thread".

Is the chat back up yet? I have never visited the chat but I'm interested now. If not back up yet I'd give it a week or two. Now or later. I'll go read more conspiracies now.

It bothers me that the members of ATS were used as an "Experiment". Weren't told anything about it. Now that was the largest part of the problem, not being told anything. If members knew of this "experiment" then the outcome would have surely differed. Now look at the mess that has been created.

I feel somewhat like a lab rat
. There are always second chances, that's if the site admins would like to give this another try. I feel they should make an exception since this "experiment" was unannounced. I guess some good did come out of this, now members will know to be mature about such topics and have an intelligent discussion.

Dude you gotta reinstate chat lol... i'd pay 2 bucks a month to use the chat feature.. you get instant results from things you say.. you should have a stricter penalty to people who abuse chat.. like just being banned from chat.. its stupid to punish the non-stoners (lol) who use it.. i like the chat, i think its fun

Meanwhile the world is melting down in an epic global economic crisis with little or no improvement.

It's disappointing to watch so many great minds get caught up in this seemingly trivial and rather insignificant subject of drug discussions when there is so much going on around the world right now that is far more worthy of your time, intelligence and efforts.

Maybe we could petition the white house for a new cabinet position, a chief of internet drug discussions?

You make it sound like we put ex-lax in your tea to see what happened.

Come on.

Besides for which, you personally know quite well that ATS's staff believes in second chances.

Please work with us.

You didn't seem to get my point. If the members were told, then everything would have been fine.

And what do you mean that I should know?

Id love to see a transcript of this chat that went down.

I'm also wondering what the outcome would be if it was a bunch of immature people talking about how drunk they were. Would it be any different? Hmmm..

It's not idiot stoners that are the problem, its immature people. NO MATTER WHAT TOPIC THAT IS DISCUSSED YOU WILL HAVE IMMATURE POSTERS. It just happened to fall into the drug category this time and ATS apparently wanted set an example.
