Okay, I'm currently on page 30 – getting there. But I would like to object to this if it's not too late.

By the time I first logged on and found out about the new policy, the thread about it was 47 pages long. I'm sure I'm not alone. If the committee is decided based on who participated in the first couple of hours in the thread, you are leaving out vast numbers of members who might be interested and worthy.



Wow, I finally caught up and my own post was still on the last page so I could just edit instead of putting up a new one. There are benefits to logging on when most people are asleep

Tacky as it may be, I'd like to volunteer (nominate myself) to be considered for the DISC committee. I know there was a lot of talk that there were too many nominees already, but I really think I could be a useful member and would welcome the opportunity to be of service to an institution that has rapidly become one of the more important pieces of my life.

So then whats the deal on alternative remedies, things out of your garden. A new show starting next week is called "Grow your own drugs" its primarily for family ailments can we discuss this?

Only on this thread, I think. When and where can we see this show...If it is real and of substance it will be banned most probably...I'd love to see a few episodes. Let me know please. thanks

Instead of banning drug related threads would it not be easier to ban the minority that break the t&C's? in the drug related threads?

Is this anything to do with your new sponsors? or is someone or something puting pressure on you to do this?

I object too, hold your horses, people need a chance to read this. The thread's not even been up for a day yet and already you're ready to start counting votes. Don't forget this is a GLOBAL site and should give every regular member the chance to do their daily log-in and a fair chance to express an opinion on this, or don't they matter. The more opinions the better for any decisions that may have to be made. So what if there's a thousand replies...this is important and may shape the future of ATS. Most UK members won't even finish work for around another 5 hours. Give them a chance to speak.

This also sounds to me like some members are trying to pull a little too much weight and are making too many decisions too fast.

Very much "on topic"...chill out!

This should primarily be in the hands of Staff and owners with support from members...ALL members, not the other way round imo.

I know I don't have 28million posts or a billion 'ats points,' but I have common sense and know when it's stupid to share personal experiences in discussions involving worldwide implications.

Every HEMP/cannabis thread I've seen, I've tried to warn people about posting off-topic/experience stories, but sure enough, within a day or so the thread is gone.

If I was a moderator of some sort I would stop that before it happens.

Assuming that the medicine you're discussing is not cannabis or in the psilocybin (sp?) producing family of fungi, I don't see why you couldn't. The ban is not on any mind-altering substances, it's on illegal mind-altering substances and the illegal abuse of naturally occurring substances, as I understand from the admin responses through the thread.

So, discussing the '___' that your pineal gland released last night while you were dreaming, or whether '___' production accounts for near-death-experiences, would be okay by the new policy. Discussing how to artificially introduce '___' into your bloodstream would not.

Most herbal medicines are perfectly legal, and even those supplements that there is a lot of controversy about recently (like the form of B6 the FDA recently relisted as a pharmaceutical instead of a nutritional supplement) are not illegal but regulated. There is a difference.

Medical MJ as has been pointed out several times in this thread is a bit of a stumbling block, but surely we can do without discussions of it for a couple months while things settle down?

And alcohol is indeed illegal in some countries. If you're in one of those countries, it might be a good idea not to talk about your personal use of alcohol on the internet anyway. But I think it's important also to try to read the intent of the rule instead of the letter of the rule. And I think the intent is much clearer than some people on this thread would have us believe.

I think there could be a real problem relating to news stories about illegal drug trafficking, as well as the role of drug trafficking in wars all over the globe, and the use of illegal substances in research by the military and intelligence communities that are staples of conspiracy theory discussions.

Not to mention SkepticOverlord's own point that the sudden media focus on drugs and legalization could be a deliberate ploy by people who would rather have Californians worrying about stuff like marijuana and gay marriage than the economic state of their state.

It's worth noting that both of those issues are pretty well guaranteed to go into the hundreds if not thousands of posts here at ATS – there's something attention-grabbing about such issues.

ATS is no better than CNN or NBC.

You're all arguing for no reason. The "leaders" they pick are going to make anyone that takes a similar stance look like druggie fools or bleeding heart cry babies.

Denying ignorance is the absolute last thing that comes to mind...

I did have a thread on it but it had a dodgy link in it anyway, but the show is being Aired on the BBC as of next monday, it looks interesting, more of a guide for families there wont be anything illegal involved, more how to cure a cold and such things. As i said the show is called "Grow your own drugs" which sounds worse than it is. So if you can watch the bbc at all or find a way it will be on starting the 2nd of March. It might find its way to youtube or something.

And thanks americandingbat, that clears a bit up, but i can imagine as soon as a mod see the title "Grow your own drugs" it will set off alarm bells even if the show is called that and its perfectly harmless.

I believe the title of the show will attract young minds who need to get out of the over processed consumption system we are trapped in. I know the natural world and its merits in holistic health, anything added to my knowledge is well used, and the more people are aware of taking better care of themselves through simple holesome remedies(taking precious care of yourself is the key) instead of taking medications that cause mild to severe - secondary effects.

Good move. So pleased druggies cannot gloat here about how tough they are and do their "Look at me I am such a bad a**" . It is truly pathetic to still see grown men and women thinking it is cool to take drugs. Boooooring! So very boring and annoying.

So i guess your whole life style has not been influenced by role models you were unwillingly subjected to, and i will not even attempt to touch the subject of subliminal messages.
Lets be clear i do not care what anyone does in the privacy of their own home, but i do care about public ridicule of users or casual users who have chosen something which keeps them in the realm of reality. For the record, countless experiments were performed in the Space shuttle and in the ISS with reference to drug usage in zero gravity and the affects on the human body. The subject is far more scientific than you might think.

Banned My drug of choice has always been muzic, you should of watched the video, its a pill in itself...I see my u2u is red...

I guess deep down I feel your new policy would prevent a new much needed awareness on the subject. I object!!!

You're missing the point.

The point is not that we're upset over people not being able to talk about drug use but we won't be able to discuss the conspiracy aspect of drugs unless things change.

There is a huge conspiracy with drugs. And if people are afraid of speaking out well that's bad.

This decision by the Owners of ATS further exemplifies the ever growing censorship of their forums. It's boarding upon communism. Any user of this site is subject to censorship.

It is despicable that anyone that may decide to use this website for constructive communication is censored. Why ban discussions on drugs, and mind altering drugs or substances? Why not include all those NDE, or OBE stories? They are mind-altering also. When an alien probes your backside, isn't that mind-altering too?

I totally agree with the person who said it's all about the Money. Absolutely correct!

Finally this site is able to attract big name sponsors, and the sponsor’s will pull their sponsorship in a heartbeat, if they don't agree with what is said on the forums. Unfortunately for the users and fortunately for the Owners, this site is just like TV, the radio, and newspapers. It requires sponsors to float the boat.

ATS needs to understand that it all starts with the readers and posters. No readers or posters means, no advertising, which means no income for ATS. Once that happens they will have to plead with the government for a bail out package, and struggle to regain their readership.

I don't like all the advertising on this site as my AVG is CONSTANTLY flagging off that a cookie has been blocked. The commercialism of this site has taken over, and I doubt that the Owners will be able to control that. (Who would want to give up income at a time when none is to be found?)

I know my verbiage is futile, but at least I have voiced my concerns.

I wish ATS well, but in my opinion, I don't see this decision as a positive one at all.

Life (and all its restrictions and censorships) will go on.
