NY cartoon appears to link Obama to dead chimp

I have two problems with the cartoon. First, there is an unfortunate history of Blacks being compared to apes, monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees. Even if this comparison was accidental, it shows a lack of sensitivity towards people who would see the cartoon.

Second, it associates the President with being shot and killed. That could be perceived as a subtle threat. I doubt the cartoonist was suggesting that someone should shoot the President, but the suggestion is there. I feel it is never a good idea to link a President and death, even in jest.

racists cartoons-Jeff Danzinger-Sec of State Condelezza Rice, you will find two(2) of the most offensive racists cartoons toward President Bush and Ms. Rice.
Isn't it interesting that the very organizations that protested the NYPost cartoon never opened their mouths concerning this past,blantant, overt racist slur against Republican George Bush and his appointed Secretary.

Why? How ugly does it have to get?? If we criticise Obama is it always racist? NO IT IS NOT! If we think Obama & Congressional members acted like a bunch of dumb monkeys, with an infinite amount of money(trillions) typing on an infinite amount of word-processors, creating an infinite amount of spending, on an infinite amount of projects, why can't we make that point? I was thinking the same thing. Lol. The cartoon was not an unflattering characterization of black people in my opinion, but that post certainly seemed to be. Just about every stereotype possible was evident in that post.

And to OKCbtard, my own personal thought was not that that was a fine young African American, but some fine young middle class Caucasian male pretending to be an African American. Having grown up speaking pidgin English myself, I know that most people who speak a pidgin or a Creole language do not really write in it. Your grammar or syntax may betray you here and there, but that was deliberate misspelling and grammar. I guarantee it.

Criticism for the Obama Administration has been considerably low compared to years past when The Bush Administration was criticised for not even winning the election before being sworn in. It seems as if everyone is afraid to criticize our gov't now when it has ALWAYS been fair game. Freedom of speech is STILL a right & should not be apologized for. I did not take offense to this after seeing countless emails of Bush singing as a chimp or countless jokes linking Congress to Bailouts. Given that the most popular commericials of 2008 showed Chimps running offices as a push for finding a new job, I say, get off it!!!! This is ridiculous & we need to stop being so sensitive & pulling the race card out. Making people even more aware of race really defeats the purpose of unity & equality does it not? Making this a democrat vs republican thing is also missing the point, yes, dems are the majority, but hey, this bill was a joke & should be discussed a such, if you are offended by that, please run for Congress, you will fit right in.

Only an idiot would assume that the chimp in that cartoon was suppose to be Obama. It's obvious the chimp is Nancy Pelosi.

Besides, comparing that cartoon chimp to Obama is an insult to the achievements of the Chimp-American community. Look at what Chimp-Americans have achieved in the fields of medical science as guinea pigs, in the field of space flight (Maj. Tom- America's first astronaut), and in the field of entertainment (Lancelot Link- Secret Chimp and Reagan's co-star in Bedtime for Bonzo). Compare that to Obama's flimsy resume as a "community organizer".

I hereby demand a public apology from the Rev. Al Sharpton.
