I uploaded yesterday a 49MB MOV file without any problem, could it be that the problem is with the file you are trying to upload?

Is it the same you were trying to upload yesterday? If it is, try a different file, if possible.

Or you can try to send me the file through RapidShare, for example, and I will see if I can upload it.

It worked, it only took some minutes to upload.

(click to open player in new window)

Edit:
I did not noticed anything wrong with the video.
Do you want me to remove it now?

You are a gentle(wo)man and a scholar, sir/lady, and I thank you. Please take it down from here. I am going to find you over there and see what the thumbnail looks like. Did you allow it to generate or did you use the one I was using?

Also, I am uploading it from a RealPlayer, do you think that could be the problem? Please feel free to u2u me if you think we are no longer helping anyone by discussing this here.

Thanks again!

...sigh... tried again... What am I missing here? Is there a STEP 3 I am not seeing? I have for the fifth, sixth, seventh... tried WITH THE SAME RESULT.

At the end of Step 2 it says it is uploaded, now what?

I can see ArMap successfully loaded the first part, but I think he used no description. I am uploading using a paragraph to desc. the interview series.

So I can now only surmise that:

a) the description is the issue
b) there is a third step that is eluding me

I am keeping the browser window open at the end of Step 2 where it says it is sucessfully uploaded. If there is a next step I need to take, could anyone let me know what it is?

EDIT TO ADD: The submit page went completely white after a few mins. and would not refresh. I am nothing if not tenacious, so I will try again this time under OFF TOPIC AND CHIT CHAT which is where ArMap was able to load it.

Could a Moderator please Log On as me on the vid site and try to load this thing, please?

I have changed Categories. I have tried with no description. I have tried smaller description. I have taken out all of the ""'s and 's as they create \'s when loaded... I am all out of ideas here.

I assume you can see my PW from the admin side of the site, but if you need it, or my description of the vid please u2u me.

On bended knee,
TWISI

You and me both. I just uploaded and ran a test tutorial video for Bryce and it played but then when I went to the main I got the same error.

First of all a BIG SHOUT OUT OF GRATITUDE to ArMap and 12m8keall2c!!!

I am going to recount the issues I had and how I overcame them in case it is of use to anyone else who is having diffculites, or for the ATS folks who are running the BETA.

12m8keall2c logged in as me and managed to load pt. 1 using a thumbnail I hade saved here, and no description. He did not see the 'final page' that is the norm, but loaded never the less.

I then had same problem loading pt. 2. I cut the DESC. DOWN TO ONE SENTENCE and decided to see if the site would generate a thumbnail w/o timing out. It did and I loaded 2-4 that way.

Pt. 5, the smallest file 7MBS, kept timing out again. I then tried to use a different thumbnail loaded here and started getting the original problem -- it would say loaded 100%, but would show 'error on the page' in the bottom left corner of my broswer and would not show the page that said file uploaded. Btw, I have never had it go directly to the file, which I think it supposed to do.

Anyway, I then loaded a thumbnail directly from My Pictures and finally met with success.

Thanks again for all of the assitance!

Maybe I'm not understanding this right, but here's my 2 cents anyway, when you load a video, don't load a thumbnail just load the video, I was having an issue with thumbnails but just started uploading my couple of videos without a thumbnail and they loaded with no problems.

Not sure if it is related but I had an interesting issue recently..

I was attempting to load a few pictures and was getting the error code.

After some playing around I discovered that the site wont load really large pictures. I mistakenly assumed the upload process would simply resize the image.

When I cut the images down to 600px wide, they then loaded just fine. I have no idea what the limit is, but the 600px size looks good..

I uploaded one pic that was 1000X800 I used it for a background but it was re-sized and ended up tiling and another that was 1024x821 and it tiled as well.

Both these pictures are re-sized to 600px × 480px when viewed in my pictures.

I hosted my background on image shack and it was 1024 X 768

Tiled as well

The resizing of the pictures is a real let down. What's the use of a place to upload files if it resizes the pictures?

I was expecting a place where I could post images larger than those that ImageShack or PhotoBucket allow, but it's even worse than those two sites, with a stupid limit of 600 pixels.

As I don't care much for videos I think I will not use this much.

It looked so good at first...

Anything over 2048 pixels wide is resized down to 2048.

The 600 pixel number is merely what looks best on the media site.

I should have been clearer.

The images that are limited to 600 pixels in width are the ones from the "My Pictures" area, not those uploaded as "My Media", it's a bit strange to have the possibility of uploading images with a width of 2048 pixels as Media but not as a picture.

Also, many cameras today have resolutions bigger than 2048 pixels, and with so many people uploading their images of UFOs or other things like that, when we ask for full resolution images, the use of this Media Portal becomes less interesting.

The media player works great, but I reload this page the media player starts and when I click the pause button to stop the player the page freezes / not responds, for about 3 seconds. I'm using the latest FireFox version 3.0.6 on vista
