Hotels usually don't buy them.
They are donated by Christian organizations.
Gideons Bible?

I am glad you have found some peace NOW....OT wishes you only the best as you grow, ok?

Thanks OT. You really must believe me, I am very happy and at one with myself. Happened since the death of both my parents in a very short space of time.

I am now trully at peace and ease and now, probably love myself more than ever, and as a result I offer more love, all without the book (which I have read - former Catholic here).

Thank you.

Okay, so being a little more technical about it. The bible is the biggest selling because it is published the most. If you are published the most and all the time, you will always be number 1. Simple.

Yeah?
If people didn't believe in it, they wouldn't have contributions for the Bible.
The government doesn't pay for them. Although they used to at the beginning of this country!
Now, we're so progressive.

Why are you so scared to go to your heaven???You have no faith and a LIAR. Don;t worry death comes in 5 minutes and it won't hurt. You can even arrange to have your family there while they celebrate your entrance to heaven while they send you off. Think how cool it will be that you won;t get sick anymore or anything. Man it sounds so great. I bet you are just dying to get there now arent you??
why are you so scared?

You don't get it, do you?
Christians WORK HERE AND NOW for the betterment of mankind, until we're done.
We don't just wait idly for our deaths.
There's a lot of work to be done.
When death comes, it's O.K.

Fodder?
How old are you?
Barely out of your teens, I suppose.

You think we should murder each other to get to heaven quicker?
The Bible says to give your LIFE for your brother!

Well, interesting, how shall I start? first of all the ten commandments were written down as laws because at that time there were no laws and people, having begun to settle into communities, desperatly needed them. Along comes the bible, or if you like, a selection of short stories, and little laws, designed to educate and translate meanings of all the little laws. What has happened over the years is that people have begun to forget the teachings and meanings of the bible to such an extant that they now profess there own meanings and teachings, using whatever arguments they like. This is unfortunatley, at the denial of the teachings of Jesus, and indeed, as if He was just another Story. The whole and entire meaning of the life of Jesus was to send the "good news" Now if people were to listen, they would here, if they look, they will find! If we were to "ditch" the bible where would we look?
The good news is that when we all pass from this mortal realm, we go to another, a spiritual realm. Some people arent ready to accept this through fear and ignorance. "ignorance" is not a bad word, it just means someone just doesnt get it!
Yes, there are teachings in the bible, from an obviously ancient time, and those teachings were meant for those ancient people. This is why we have the NEW TESTAMENT. This was written for us, and our times. If we look, we will find the answers to all our own perticular troubles.
"So long as you obey the laws of love, you will have done all that is asked of you"
Life doesnt have to be complicated as people think.By simply reading the bible, we gain a knowledge of mans past. Which is important, because we then read the new testament, and we gain a knowledge of mans future!!!
This is called "THE GOOD NEWS"
I firmly believe we are at a crossroad in mans history, and now, more then ever, is an important time to embrace the bibles teachings.
Understanding, compassion, tolerance, patience, basic love, of life and mankind, these things last forever and cost nothing, yet they are all in the bible and seldom, more and more, in our own daily lives.
The bible is a GUIDE.
GODS LOVE, and the PROMISE of an eternal sprirtual exintence, is the gift.
ditch the bible and you will take away all this in one foul sweep.
DONT DITCH IT< READ IT!!!!!!
PEACE...........

Hmmm, that's right, Christians have to give alot to their church don't they, and that money pays for the hotel bibles. $$$$

I think most Christians, like me, give money to lots of different organizations,
If my church depended on my money and others with my income(Which is the majority of churches I go to), they would be seriously broke.
A lot of protestant preachers work for a living.

This isn't even a discussion anymore, it's just straight out bashing. Can't believe it's been allowed to go on this long. Disagreeing with someone is one thing, but a few people seem to be more interested in ways of putting people down than having an actual discussion.

Makes some of the more heated debates lately seem mild.

Oh, I see. Guess it's not being allowed to go on. Guy has gotten 1 ban already, working on a 2nd one.

Thistle man, I started a near identical thread about 2 weeks ago and I must say I stopped reading it because everyone is in their own mindset, and very few actually want to rethink or discuss why they are using the King James bible, it becomes a "im right because..." argument and it can turn very easily in to a WWF match by reply number 3! ...anyhoooo
