The porn industry is absolutely necessary. If you somehow destroyed the whole porn industry, I gaurantee you there would be a significant increase in sexual assaults and rape.

For a while feminists worried that the increasing availability and extreme nature of porn would lead to an increase in rape and sexual violence. That seems not to have happened (outside the industry itself, anyway. I bet it's pretty rampant in the industry.)

But there hasn't been a decrease either.

I read once that the biggest change that has been reported is that more and more women have concerns because their partners are unable to perform.

Performance anxiety about being compared to men who have offscreen "help" to maintain their readiness? Inability to become aroused by one real woman when you spend too much time watching a whole surgically enhanced sorority house? I don't know.

I have also heard men express the opinion that they'd rather just go home and watch porn than try to meet a real woman – that the internet has made it so easy to take care of things oneself that it just seems like a hassle to try and have a real sexual partner.

That's pretty disturbing.

As a woman I say
to anything that makes men less likely to be willing to put in the effort it might take to meet us, and less likely to be able to have a mutually satisfactory sex life when he does.

I don't think there's anything wrong with porn in itself. I think it serves an important purpose for both men and women both in relationships and on their own.

But I think that porn addiction is a real issue and a real problem. And I think that a lot of the porn out there only serves to increase some men's assumption that sex defiles a woman.

You think that I am willing to stop fulfilling my base psychological desires because "some" women are at the brunt end of physical abuse? Maybe we should ask why they are in the porn industry in the first place? Perhaps these women are more susceptible to abuse than others? What are their socioeconomic circumstances? Surely it is not the only option for these women. I know several girls that decided to go into the porn industry as soon as they became eighteen years old because they thought it would be easy work. Frankly, they're morons for having been so clueless. In the meanwhile, they've squandered all their opportunity for a good life and education because they thought they could take the easy way out. At present, there is no way to regain all those lost years of what could have been a productive time at university.

These people aren't merely a product of their surroundings as you've made them out to be. You shift a much too significant proportion of the blame to the consumers, who fuel demand for the industry. You ignore the sociological questions.

Anyway, they can decide to pursue a better life if they desire. What constantly lures these women back is a sense of security, a sense of "feeling needed" when there is seemingly no other alternative for them. It's not like the majority are bottom feeders with no family support structure, no other talents and virtually no other way to earn a living. Ultimately it is the moral and constitutional insufficiency of individuals, especially women, who allow themselves to be more susceptible to abuse and being tricked into the industry in the first place.

Another point you make, dingbat, is that you reason that increasing immorality is a result of the the existence of porn, as if pornography itself has created some moral hazard, whereby individuals no longer feel compelled to pursue sex in a normal manner. I'm fairly certain the creation of the porn industry itself was fueled out these tendencies and not the other way around. There were probably just as many people, before porn became commonplace, that preferred voyeurism, masturbation, mental fantasy, and other perverted activities to a mature sexual relationship. The only thing that has changed is the introduction of a means for these people, mostly men, to channel those energies into a structured online activity, or porn.

I'll say it here first. I like my porn, but I'm also a romantic. No matter how much porn you watch, it doesn't compete with the real thing. I define porn as a quick release from stress and such as I've stated before, not a permanant alternative.

I bet those men that would rather just watch porn instead of trying to get into a relationship are the same men that wouldn't bother buying rose petals for the bed and a lit candal path to the bathtub.

But that's just me.

lol, i had to reply to this. im not gonna lie here and i hope the op reads this post. first off you can consider me an expert on porn lol. not only do i watch it usually once a day but sometimes twice. obviously im single so i take care of it myself, would the op rather me meet a girl at a bar have sex with her then disapear into the night? im not married and probably wont be for a long time. yes some porn is abusive and 90% of the time the title and explanation of the video being made gives the actress plenty of fore warning especially if the video is call SuperSized penial ramming lol. most porn isnt shot in a whole 30 mins either they break just like any other job if the woman didnt want to continue she could forfiet her money and go home. On top of this i personally know many woman who "like it hard" and like it rough. the last girl i was with always wanted me to choke her and smack various parts of her body at first it was strange but then was exciting, and she was right doing the same thing over and over with someone eventually becomes boring so u gotta do something different and most women like to change it up by being rough. also these girls arent being dragged off the street by the hair thrown on a bed and screwed in front of a camera they have agents and everything else. on top of that plenty of women love the porn industry and many veteran porn actress's start there own video lines of either themselves or being a director. dont give me this porn is evil just because u saw a girl get roughed up or upset that she caught a load in the eye it happends in real life go ahead drop a load in your wifes eye see how quickly she goes from happy to out of character lol shes not out of character because shes in porn shes out of character cause u missed the mark lol

Wow, I just went away for about a day and this topic exploded.

Again, to re-solidify my stance on things. I do like sex, there is nothing wrong with hot naked women. But porn crosses the line though.

Porn just started to become disturbing to me sometimes. Someone made a comment about, it's not the year 1500 anymore. Exactly, porn has desensitised people over the years. Now to get any sexual response out of some viewers, people need to see guys with 12" manhoods, and terms like "ripping" in movie titles. Who is ripping fun for? Does any girl here really like their insides pulled out from being relentlessly pounded by guys? Guys not stopping even when the girl gave them a sign to stop because it was hurting; is that somehow fun? Are abortions a good thing now too? "Those girls are just meat, aren't they." "And, those worthless babies would have gotten in the way of the flow of porn money."

See, now, we've got to hurt each other to make each other feel good? That makes no sense. It's not enough though, there now there has to be 20 guys and two of them Double Penetrating a single girl for it to be exciting. Where does it end? When will some people get to the point where they are actually sexually satisfied with the film they have watched?

You actually have to watch these girls faces. You will see the pain in their eyes. If you were having sex with a girl, wouldn't you stop if they said it was too uncomfortable for them, or are you just going to do like some in the porn industry and keep on going? "Well, you asked for it. You wanted me to have sex with you."

I've seen some messed up things. Guys opening a girls mouth with their fingers, in the corners of their mouth. Just pulling on their mouth. Really tasteless. I would bite the f*%ckers fingers off if it was me. Girls getting punched. Girls getting called degraded names. And more. It's not civilized. We're more or less chearing the villains in these films. "Man, what a stud this guy is, for treating a girl like crap."

The people who said porn is like any other job, where you might not like the job you do. That's not a good analogy at all. You can't relate "apples to oranges" very much, they aren't that much alike. You're not having sex with all of your co-workers in the cubicle farm. Well, maybe some people are, but that's another chapter. In general, jobs don't require you to bang all your co-workers.

I don't know how much time I wasted watching porn. I could have been doing something else, like, oh, looking for a girlfriend or something, working on my business. Maybe even having real sex with a real girl.

I became so desensitised that the things I watched were crazier and crazier.

Everywhere you look on TV it seems you will see penis pills, sex pills. I think someone(s) wants you to be more interested in sex, so you can't see what is really going on in the world. Some people in "higher authority" aren't looking to get rid of porn, like they might say. It's an easy way to keep people blind. Sex is an easy way to control people. Why would they get rid of it.

Have you ever seen a sex crazed dog after a female? Good luck in getting them to comprehend anything. They are like robots to the sex drive.

I guess if you can get people crazy enough about sex, the idea is that they will do the same thing as a dog. Then you don't have to worry about them figuring out things. They are too busy having orgasms.

one read my post right above you since u were probably typing that while i was posting mine, second we used to be dogs u thing early cavemen and tribes asked to have sex? no they bent the women over and had there way to make babies and such. and where do u get this abortion in the porn industry? sure there are accident maybe in poorly planned porn most porn stars are on birth control and if not ull deff see a condom on the guy. and as for degrading each other its called invoking your partner getting angry or an adrenaline rush during sex will increase performance and drive, on a rare occaison making love is a good thing but thats when your connecting with your partner your not going to connect lovingly on everyday or everymonth of everyyear, sometimes ur just horny and want to go at it ur not going to take it easy at that point ur going to go at it. sure if ur with ur gf or wife and she goes ow chances are you will stop unless ur a couple seconds from blowing ur load, but in the porn industry its not about emotion its about the simple act of going at it and if the girl says ow o well shes getting paid for it and chances are if shes saying ouch in a movie called "gigantic cock invasion" thats what they are looking for male dominance.
p.s im going to go watch porn now to relieve some stress have a nice night

Where are on Earth do you get that from???
You think men haven't been able to be romantic and court women for hundreds of years? I beg to differ.

The caveman image of a man dragging his woman by the hair is rather humorous in cartoons, but I seriously doubt it represents how it used to be.

Some men are 'dogs', some men are not. Im sure it has always been this way.

Porn is just like football
I love it.
Porn, football, the news chanel, they are all great.
It now depends on what kind of porn each will enjoy.
Some porn is disturbing and I could never like it, some porn is really ok and will open the imagination land.

Don't know you poster from Adam so I'll address the words written....... and it has to be said that you really do have some big problems with self gratification and sex. I can only hazard a guess that its either some terrible sexual or confidence shattering experience that you've had that makes you write this utter rubbish or your guilt ridden burdened by some religious indoctrinate. Sounds very catholic or may be even worse evangelical. But, help is at hand. Either let go of your fear of life-death that religion force upon us all or just enjoy the act of all things sexual and don't worry about if you think these participants in the porn your so guilty about are getting off on your perceived pleasure or pain. Chill, it’s only the recording of sexual acts that 'most' people happily participate in.

On a more serious note I'm fairly sure that the police could point to the real sex slave industry that can be located in legally married domistic violence!

I dont know about you but I have been watching porn very consistently since I was about 12 years old (I am almost 28 now). Before the computer era I was looking at pornographic magazines and ascii images on my computers screen. Then JPG and GIF format came out so I was enjoying looking at young naked girls. [snip] Now of course I download full dvds via newsgroups and yes I think it is illegal and it's called "piracy". Sometimes I visit porn sites like [snip]. Honestly after watching so much porn for so long and downloading 100s of terabytes of porn I can not firmly state my opinion if porn is bad or not for those who watch it. I think to some extent it is since my expectations of how a woman should look like are based upon what I saw in porn movies. But then again I realize that not all women look like porn stars and it's ok. After all you don't have to have a porn star in front of you to enjoy sex right? I can find many women attractive without them looking like a super star. As to porn superstars I don't feel bad for them. It's their choice of a life style. I am sure many of them do it because they enjoy it and or potent income. I think professional porn industry should not be compared with prostitution. Though deep down I think porn sets a bad example for young people and society as a whole and should be banned.

What a stupid topic, everyone who choices to be in porn has chosen themselves (yes there are the few who have no choice but majority don't). They may not enjoy it, but they see it as easy money and a kick start to their acting career.

Bad things human do is having to do with the dwelling of demon and evil entity inside your body, that harvesting upon your soul and others contributed to you. You may not see it with the eyes, but it's there.

As Someone famous says "Judge the tree by it's fruits!"

And the rules of economic also applies here, there will be no one selling if there are no buyers!

Whether or not these people get into porn by choice is irrelevant. Empathy towards those who endure pain is required. I do not know what else to say.

However, I am surprised this thread has not gone into the argument over censorship like in my previous porn industry thread.
