Ok Ok. So they have new hardware and far greater numbers in military. You have to ask yourself this though. Say that we are to go to war with China, what makes you think they will defeat us. To really defeat the United States they will have to invade and kill almost every American there is. I can say that with almost certainty. I for one, being in the military, am not worried about China or any other force on the planet at this point. However, in a few years, once Obama has his way and downsizes our military I will begin to think about it. We currently have the most technologically advanced weapons for battle. Their sheer numbers is all they have. At this point, I would not worry about anything, however in a few years yes I would because by that time our military will be downsized once again and we will be even more vulnerable then ever before because Obama is going to pull the wool over everyones eyes like he is already doing.

If things continue the way they are they won't have to worry about using their army or making any kind of aggressive stance.

They can take over as benevolent benefactors after our government has sold us to the highest bidder and we have wiped ourselves out.

We have no reason to fear others; we are our biggest enemy.

brainwash different: chinese who are interested in politics/economy knew they are reading brainwashed story which provided by their gov because of culture revolution, and great fire wall, so most of them will read multiple source of story (by proxy to access blocked) . while i dont think most westerns do espeically when it comes to china.

Not only will they not take the time to separate the wheat from the chaff they will often attack you if you attempt to give them a view point other then the one to which they have attached themselves.

Many Americans are not interested in hearing anything that may challenge their systems of belief. It makes their lives too complicated.

They do not have the time to seek the truth and they do not have the heart to deal with it when they find it.

China has a stealth sub!
About two years ago it surface purposely amongst aircraftcarriers (US) and the subs that accompany them undected.
Ever wonder why the excessive "sonar testing" is driveing the whales nuts?
How do I know?
Two companies have been approched to rubberize our subs I'm apart of that supply chain.
Do not confuse American Propaganda with other entities technoligical capabilities.
they won't tell you about area51, Flying Saucers, Amazing aireal accompolishments, or the Chinese Subs.
But you all do seem to think the USA has superior capabilities?
Suppose that the other competing govts. have alien tech too.
Just a thought!

I would like to point out that the picture of the carrier is actually a Soviet-era aircraft carrier that China bought and is currently non-operational. There has been speculation that China will announce their intention or plans to build a carrier. Today, China lacks the capability of power projection with the exception of their subs.

As for the pictures of lovely Hong Kong, today about 1/3 of China live in Urban or surburban areas compared to 3/4 for the US. A fifth of its population live in poverty and according to some sources, 1/3 live under $2 a year. I don't deny China is rising, but it has so many hurdles ahead. China's economy is very dependent on the survival of the United States. That will change, but it will be a long process. China has been at this point many times in the past. They have been at the cusp of superpower status only to be robbed by internal struggles. China has a vibrant culture, that I for one love, but their economy, military, infrastructure, space programs, foreign influence, and human rights are still very much in its infancy.

I believe the U.S. welcomes China's rise and is watching them closely along with the military, but I highly doubt this will ever leader to conflict. China has the manpower, but the US has the technological capabilities to counter their numbers.

Ask and you shall recieve eh? hahaha

Yeah it does seem China is pretty much on equal footing. America does have the flash however who the hell knows what China is hiding?

America VS China itself would be an equal and unpredictable war, however one thing for sure is North Korea would ally with China greatly turning the odds. Even with Australia and England, America would not have much chance, 2 superpowers vs 1 and a half. I was just wondering what nations would ally themselves with who? I can imagine China, North Korea and Iran running together And Obviously the nations of the red blue and white would to.

South Korea would be a powerful ally however I feel they are geographically to close to North Korea and China to risk it, their losses would be the greatest.

My bet is whoever gets Russia would win

I wouldn't call N Korea popping off a few low yield nukes and flying a few missiles into the pacific Super power status.

An all out war between the US and China would quickly go Nuclear. The US would not invade China and fight on their soil; and China does not yet have the power projection of the US at this time.

So where would they fight?

North Korea is a purely military nation, I think they have the 4th largest Army in the world, and with China having the largest in the world (army) they would be a force to be reckoned with, while they're not an economic super power they are definitely a military super power. Not to mention they are incredibly reclusive and secretive, who the hell knows what they have up their sleeve??

Hmmm, I suppose it would depend on who attacks first, China and North Korea's navies are primarily green water so I would guess they would wanna stay close to an Allies Landmass and use hit and run siege tactics on the coast and use their Military numbers to defend acquired coastlines.

America has one major dis-advantage though-it's people. To avoid civilian casualities they would not be able to unleash their full might in an Allied area, unfortunately I believe China or North Korea would have no such problem....

If North Korea became that aggressive they would not only have to face America but Japan and South Korea not to mention any number of our allies in the region if they felt threatened by this new overtly aggressive stance by the North. Even though Japan may not have officially an offense posture they have purchased some of the best US hardware during the 80s and 90s.

Also remember that South Korea is an economic power in their own right and although they may not have the numbers that the North has but that they have also purchased some fairly advanced weapons.

Couple this with the fact the China is getting pretty bored, tired and pissed with little Kimmy's BS of late.

Hmmm, I don't know about that.... South Korea would suffer too much to want to get involved(at least early on) Yeah Japan is pretty awesome, but there weapons are not their own, they use their superior technology for other purposes. Also weapons technology is getting more and more advanced thanks to exponential growth, 20 years old weapons are fairly out dated.

Yeah South Korea is an awesome country - I'm actually moving there in a few months
but again they are surrounded by China and North Korea and have a small land mass, it would be difficult to defend it without the Allies and that would leave the Allies open to attack after spending resources to reach there, when it wouldn't take much for China and North Korea to hit it.

Also India doesn't have the best relation with Australia right now so there's a good chance they would ally themselves with China. Yeah China is getting fairly sick of North Korea's attitude but this was about China vs America, while China might not ally themselves with North Korea should a war come, North Korea would definitely take any opportunity to take on America.

But I suppose it would be tactically advantageous for China to make the war take place on American Soil, maybe even Australia for some reason I always thought it is just a big Battle Field.....

But no doubt it would turn into a world war, though I can't see anyone using nuclear weapons knowing the consequences.....

There are few flaws in that thinking.

First off South Korea would take a beating but they would defend themselves as well as the Japanese. Remember the last time Japan went on the war path and this time they do have plenty of high tech in which to work with. Second they also have a very good start with some of the latest American hardware.

Trying to fight a war on North American soil would be very difficult especially with the most highly armed civilians. [Americans] Good luck with that one.

That is true. I can't think high enough of South Korea I love that place, I just don't wanna no harm come to that place but yeah they would give it as good as they got.

Haha the good old cowboy mentality of the USA it will come in handy rallying for recruitment but they wouldn't have much chance against tanks and jets. Though America is fairly well defended.

But yeah if it was purely AMERICA v CHINA based on what we know, AMERICA would win hands down, but given allies it would be incredibly unpredictable. But as I said before I think it would all come down to RUSSIA, whoever the sleeping bear allies with would win.

I am fairly certain that CHINA,RUSSIA and NORTH KOREA could take on anything AMERICA, ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE and ITALY could throw at it they are incredibly secretive and would know doubt unleash hell, let's just hope RUSSIA doesn't get involved.

PS. Nah no apologies needed, the first few still work.

China may be growing quickly, however they are growing on the broken back's of their sweatshop workers. They profit from their own poverty.

although they have the edge in manpower, conventional warfare doesn't rely on number's anymore, but on bomb's and technology. War's are fought by pressing buttons these days.

It would be long and brutal, who knows how many years it would last, and every single american and chinese would feel the effects of it in one way or another.

Truly .... a World War 3

My point of this thread is not really to scare anybody more like to make aware than many especialy in the US are not aware that in about 10 or so years there will be a big dragon at the world table and we will need to deal with them as a strong power and not some backwards looking communist country

Your also forgetting another major player and thats India. They are becoming a major world power and they will compete toe to toe with any country. The days of only having 2 super powers are over there will be at least 4 if not more.

Yeh, and given the current tensions between indian citizens and Australia I'm not sure who if anyone they would side with. they have the most numbers without a doubt

All I have to say is,

Stop trying to resurrect the Cold War and grow up already.

Seriously, I'm tired of US nationalism and paranoia. The sheer arrogance and hypocrisy of these claims on how everyone needs to "wake up" to see how 'scary' China is getting... B.S., all of it.

The US has been nothing short of the Fourth Reich for the past 70 years. We've done ridiculous crap and achieved such an overreaching and globe encompassing Empire, that it would make the Nazis jealous.

Seriously, grow up, and look at the United States for what it really is. Trying to point out new 'bogeyman' up-and-comers doesn't work anymore.

Apocalypse Mao!

If 'Super' power means how much money 'The Country' has in the bank...or how many 'Army Men' it has...then, okay.

However, if the contest is China VS. The USA in quality of life...USA wins! And always will.

The Chinese will never, never, never get the quality of life commonly experienced in the West. Never.
