Yep, anything can start a world war really.

But it seems in recent years, the alliances seem more defined, the world seems to be split and ready for confrontation.

Basically, the logs are stacked, kindling ready, all that's missing is a spark in the right place.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Although I am young of age, I don't think we've seen alliances so clearly defined since World War II. While I think that this conflict is not going to lead to another World War, the ingredients seem to be right: financial crisis, shortages of natural resources, tensions all over the world (Russia - Georgia, India - Pakistan, US - Iran, Israel Iran, Hezbollah, Syria, etc).

Still waiting for Gamergal`s evidence that palestinians shot children and threw under tanks

in 2006 the UN special report on Jenin

www.un.org...

strongly critises the use of time delayed , artiliery deployed anti personal grenades - as these fall into the random use of mines catagory and are banned in urban fighting.

secondly- White Phorphorus

the random use of WP against civialin targets is banned under the CCWC and is a war crime

i don`t care if you want to feign innocence and say ` were not signed to it` - many countries arn`t signed to the NPT and yet the USA is making a rather large fuss of nuclear tech.

UN CCWC LINK

and the specific protocol

Protocol 3 of the CCWC banning incendary weapons against civilians

you cannot go blanket bombing a city in WP (as they did in fullajah) - its a war crime

That is what I was saying. The guy is on the front lines. He's busy reporting what he sees first hand. He isn't sitting in a comfy office talking on a blog.

So as you've now decided that your source that you quoted is on TV rather than the blog as you previously stated, care to provide that link on the militants shooting kids in the legs and tossing them under the tracks of tanks??

I never said there was a blog. I was making fun of people like you who rely on blogs and not first hand witnesses too what is going on. Guy reported what he saw, and since he's not in some cushy office writing on a blog there are no links, just watching the news as a reporter does his job. *facepalm* Is it really that hard to understand? Edit too add, did you wait for a blog to tell you about 9/11? What, on 9/14 did you find a blog? "What, we were attacked three days ago? I hope they update their blog soon!"

OK, you have a cease fire. One side starts lobbing missiles into the others' land. Who broke the ceasefire?

The systematic starvation and prevention of humaitarian aid by Israell is what started it

No, the systematic starvation and prevention of humantarian aid by EGYPT is what started it. Remember, Egypt did the exact same thing Israel did. Also, to people asking for a blog, first, I have a life so can't sit here 24/7. Second, again, the guy was on the ground, reporting what he saw. He, unlike you, wasn't sitting at a computer in a nice comfy office writing up a blog. He was on the ground with troops and tanks all around him. Edit I SAID IT MORE THEN A DOZEN TIMES IT WAS ON MSNBC AND IT HAPPENED AS I POSTED ON HERE! If you read what I wrote you would know this. The reporter name was some arabic name. It wasn't one of their regulars, may not even be a MSNBC reporter just the one they got as they were jumping around from the likes of Head of Palestinian Mission too the UN to the Consul for Israel.

I came across this video on youtube and although not about the incursion happening today is an eye opener on the feelings between the two factions and to be honest was quite shocked by it,the treatment of the guys who seem to be just regular fishermen trying to eak out a living seems to be a little harsh to say the least.See what you think.

Why don't you say that? EGYPT has done the same thing. EGYPT has sealed the borders, shot civillians, refused aid. EGYPT!!! Why do you ignore EGYPT doing the exact same thing? Edit to add, the whole eating of grass was false. The report showed they were using it for firewood after using their cabinets. Not eating it.

just for my own ref can you please post the source for your information that the report was false... who declared it false and did the times in the uk post a retraction....kind regards

Why aren't news stations allowed within Gaza? Also now with borders closed and the sea controlled by Israel, how are the Palestinians going to get their weapons, do they just live off stocks?

Because the israelis don't want the world to see how it's soldiers use kids for target practice.

That's quite intimidating and given the fact that the fishermen seem desensitised to it then I assume it happens quiet regularly.

On a lighter note it's a shame about the bullets really since the free boat cleaning service could be welcome.

On the white phosphorus issue. From my understanding (and I may indeed be wrong) what they are using are essentially flares/smokescreens that can have bad effects only if a civilian is directly targeted. WP is known to suck the air out of enclosed spaces, but these seem to be detonating in the air and don't pose much risk. Anyone have more info on this?

Depleted uranium reported in Gaza attacks.

Source

Quite apart from this attack I wish they would ban the use of this substance in all munitions. The long term health effects can be horrifying no matter which country you are from.

"I'm an Israeli Zionist? Well, Zionist sure, but so are you unless you believe the Jews don't deserve too live any where on the planet. As for Israeli, nope, American."

You admit you are a Zionist and thus all your statements have an inherent bias - which has become quite obvious as of late.

Why should we believe what you say?

All your posts indicate a strong bias for the State of Israel and are blatantly biased against everyone who disagrees with the Israel's Brutal, Expansionist, And Illegal policies.

In the UN, all the world is Against Israel - Only America stands by your side.

This title of this video is
Gazan Fishermen Used As Target Practice By Israel

I'm still on the Gazan side but this is slightly propagandish, If they were targets..im sure the boats could hit them.
unless of coarse jew are only affective at child killing and cant hit anything else/sarcasm

Physical damage vs Psychological damage.

The later lasts you a lifetime, the first usualy shortens your lifetime.

I wonder how you would like it if you were a fisherman and you and your men were constantly baraged by machinegun fire and watercanons.

The Israeli don't just do that with fishermen, but as you can see in another thread on ATS, they also do it on ships carrying medical and food supplies.

"Remember the people of the revolution in the US committed what we would call today terrorist crimes against the crown. But for some reason or another we call them patriots. Why? The reason is that they were fighting for our freedom"

The reason is they won the revolutionary war. If they had lost, they would have been executed as terrorists, spys, insurrection against the Crown, whatever you wish to call it.
The difference between a Terrorist and Patriots, or freedom fighters, etc, is to win the conflict.
If you revolt against an oppressor, insure you win. Otherwise you are branded by your opponent and at their mercy.

Eyeopener? Those fisherman are clearly firing on an unarmed Israeli gunboat. Jesus H. Christ, people! You can even see the ship trying to fend off the fisherman with a water hose.

Although I'm neither here or there on this conflict since both the Israeli government and the Hamas government are as bad as each other and things are made worse by the bitter hatred they have for each other.

That being said hat does Peev me off is that this is taken as an excuse once again for all the muslims of the world to get together and protest at yet one more thing that offends them. Sure the Palestinians can go and protest but I don't think this is a race war merely a territorial one, why are the muslims off burning flags again.... Fight one muslim, fight them all it seems.
