this guy told people that there was in his oppinion reason to believe that yellowstone was gonna erupt and that being said they oughta leave. he based his claims on factual events, and while he may have an extreme oppinion on the outcome of the events, that does not mean he is a hoax. it would be a hoax if there WERE NOT an uncommon increase in seismic activity and an unusual rise in ground height. this story is picking up steam in the mainstream press, and only time will tell the true outcome. i can say that if i lived near there i would probably plan a vacation of some sorts. we simply do not have any real historical events to coorelate to on this and erring on the side of caution may save lives.

Even though I started this thread, here at ATS we are all about "Denying Ignorance" and if that is calling the initial news I posted a Hoax, I'll do it.

Thus far it appears this person is a fraud, his My Space Profile say he is a Chemical Science major and almost nothing about Geology.

I say Fraud too now or something is really not right about him.

Agreed. This website www.worldsnest.com... gives contact information at the bottom such as the cell phone number. I do not know if it is his personally but someone should try contacting it. That might help resolve this. I don't have a phone to call him with and it is late. I am going to send an email to the provided email listed on that website asking if there is any way of contacting him via email. If so I will ask him about the proposed claim and see to its validity. If I get a response from him I will post it ASAP otherwise I won't post anything. Who knows.....

As much as I want to deny ignorance we can't let hoaxers run ATS. I think there are enough intelligent people here on ATS but such hoaxes are slap on thier face. I think our statement should be - We deny ignorance and hoaxers too!

if yellowstone blew tomorrow, would he still be a hoaxer? i am not saying he is the most upfront person about his credentials, i am saying that he hasnt said ANYTHING that can be truly disputed... I think that this is a cause for at least a summable amount of concern aside from who said it first or last. the bottom line is that there IS an increase in seismic activity and the OFFICIAL reports are that it is at LEAST uncommon.

No your correct, but trying cause a stir or get attention the way he has and misrepresenting himself is sick.

Alright, here is my question, is this guy really a geologist?

I took it for face-value that the dude was a Geologist. Yes, I know, I didn't look into his credentials. But initially I didn't hear any objections to his educational background.

If this dude doesn't have a Geologist's degree and isn't working in Yellowstone, this seriously DOES take on a new light.

PS: Damn, it took me like 15 pages, or so, to get here. We should be ashamed of ourselves, guys.

I just took a look at the timeline for the Mt. St. Helens eruption.

The activity started on March 15, 1980 and it erupted on May 18, 1980.

The following are excerpts from the website:
