When a boat refuses to identify itself, what was Israel going to do. She is an American political figure (EX). As a former political figure, you should always identify yourself to another country when entering their boundries. Not to mention it is an active warzone. If a boat like that were to come into American waters, we would have no problem blowing that vessel out of the water. If she really wanted to help, make the effort to give supplies a story. Messing with Israel is not the smartest option. If she expects Obama to support her efforts, she is literally "CRAZY"

OMG!!!!.... obviously the majority of you DO NOT KNOW MCKINNEY. She is absolutely one of the BIGGEST NUTCASES in America. Just ask the security guards at the capitol building in Atlanta, GA. She had fist fights (and was sued for it btw) with them because of their audacity of not know "WHO SHE WAS". What a big, fat, stupid, American...............

Sorry, had to edit this...

This is a beautiful example of spin... Learn from it...

BTW, she wanted to be President because the people from Atlanta wouldn't re-elect her to Congresswoman... hahahahaaaaaaa.... Ohhhh, what a waste of flesh...

I am surprised that Dennis Kucinich and Sean Penn weren't with McKinney on the boat to nowhere. They must have had other plans.

Of course, there are many more celebs that should have been on that boat as well.

You and I both know people don't want to hear the truth about this story. I posted proof on pg 6 and many anti-Israel folks are still painting Cynthia as a Saint.

Unfortunately, Sean Penn and Dennis Kucinich still have jobs.

Otherwise, they might have made the trip.

I would like to ask by the way, how many more supplies that boat could have carried if there were 5 or 6 onboard instead of the 27 activists? Just a thought.

I gave you a star.

I would like to make one correction. She slapped a Capitol Hill Police officer, in DC not Atlanta. The reason was that she tried to run past a security checkpoint without her security badge because she was late for an important government handout vote.

Then she said that the officer "assaulted" her. When the video tape clearly showed that she assaulted the officer, then she said that it was the officers fault because he was a white man. When that got her into deeper trouble, then she said that "all of the Capitol Hill Police should be able to recognize her".

She is a nutjob. I am soooo glad that we got rid of her. I wanted her out so bad, that I started "anybodybutcynthia.org". There were half-a-dozen websites like mine. I like to think that we had some small effect.

I have a serious question about this incident. Why is there no video of the confrontation with the Israeli Navy?

Now, you and I both know that these actiists filmed the whole encounter. The Israelis did not board the craft, and so there is a video somewhere of the "incident".

Could it be that the activists were the agressors here? I find one of Cynthia McKinney's statements to be very suspicious. She said that, "the Israeli vessel rammed them three times, twice in the front and once in the side."

Now how do you "ram" a boat in the front?

You don't, you can't, it makes no sense, unless it was the activist's boat who rammed the Israeli craft twice and then the Israeli vessel then responded.

I also noticed that the gash in the side of the activist's boat was plainly visible, not so much for the front of the boat. This is consistant with the boat being the one that rammed the Israeli vessel.

Could not agree with you more!! But you left out one key political figure...Jimmy
Carter!! But wait I'm sure hell be on the front lines in the Gaza strip proclaiming "America is to blame for the mistreatment of the Palestinians", and Hamas is our friend blah blah blah!! And talking out of his arse as usual!!

Jimmy Cahtah would do the US a great service if he would choke on one of his own peanuts!!! It wouldn't bother me in the least. I'd lift a glass to his 'accident'!!

What, McKInney did not slap the # out of the IDF???? This is classic. So glad this nutbag is doing this. How about staying in America and delivering life saving goods to the 100's of thousands that are unemployed.

What confuses me is how this is all about Cynthia McKinney.

16 people could have been killed had the vessel gone down. It's cold enough there for cold shock to set in almost immediately and you can die within seconds from involuntary gasp reflex. If you ever spent time on a small vessel (wooden, to boot), you'd know that being rammed is serious business.

But yeah, let's make it about some lady who is completely irrelevant to anyone who lives outside the US and forget the doctors and reporters that were on board.

- The title of the thread is about Cynthia McKinney. THAT is why people are discussing her.

- Those 'doctors' and 'reporters' that you say were also on board ... they shouldn't have been their either. It was a publicity stunt for them as well and if they had died it would have been their own fault.

- Israel has stopped many, many 'aid' ships from entering ... 'aid' ships that ended up full of arms and ammo that would have been used to kill Israelies. Just because, allegedly, some doctors were on board that ship, doesn't change those facts.

- They were warned away. They didn't listen. If anything had happened they'd get the Darwin Award, and it would have been of their own doing.

Check the title Duzey ... it says Cynthia McKinney. She's the topic.

I get that the topic is about her, I just don't understand why. I suppose it's the US-centric nature of this board, but really - I find the stories of the 'regular folks' much more compelling. I don't give two hoots about Cynthia McKinnon. Really, I don't give one hoot about her.

I suppose what I'm wondering (and didn't word very well) is if the reaction would be different/less virulent had she not been on board.

And ps, it's not just me that says there were doctors and reporters aboard - Israel does too. Using quotes around the words doesn't change that.

OOOOOOOOOH. Okay.
Nevermind then.
I thought you might have been enjoying some 'New Years cheer'
and missed the title or something.

Only the OP can answer why the topic was about her. Perhaps because McKinney is American and rather well known for doing goofy things. Who knows.

that wasn't a personal jab. It's just unclear as to if it is true or not.
It was NOT a personal poke at you Duzey.

Bottom line is that they ALL took their lives in their own hands doing what they did. It is a good thing that they were not all killed. The boat did not respond to radio contact. There is a WAR going on there.

Der....I wonder why they got rammed. They were shot at and did not stop.

This is not about humanity it is about common sense which none of them have. This was, if anything, a publicity stunt.

I'm full of cheer naturally.

It's just unclear as to if it is true or not.

Like everything else about this particular story?
None of us were there to say what actually happened.

One side said there was warnings, the other says there wasn't. One side says the SS Dignity hit them, yet the damage is on the port side. Of course, it could be argued that the damage was caused after the incident to make it seem like Israel was at fault.

Which is why I choose to proudly say - I don't know what happened and I'm not going to pretend to. I know what I think may have happened based on the nature of the damage I've seen, but that doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things since I'm not getting out to see the vessel in person and there is no video footage that I've seen.

Here's a link for the surface temps in the Mediterranian Sea.

Looking at that it looks like the temps are between 22 and 23 degree Centigrade. You are in no danger of dying from cold water shock by falling into 23 C water.

Also, I am sure that the Israelis would have fished them out.

I know one thing is for sure. The movement had no intention of asking Israel for permission and also said that Israel would have to use force to stop them. This is from the movements own website. I posted their comments on page 6 of this thread.

You see, this is exactly why the Israelis should have a wood chipper on every ship.

You find stuff at sea, it goes through the wood chipper.

Cold water (for cold shock immersion) is defined as anything under 25 degrees.

www2.worksafebc.com...

Cold water is defined as water below 25°C but the greatest effects occur below 15°C. Our waters are usually below 15°C. As the fatal crab fishing accident shows, the effects are so powerful that you may not be able to help yourself. Exposure to cold water changes how your body functions. The first shock takes your breath away. Within a few minutes, your hands are so cold you cannot hold onto anything. You cannot pull yourself out of the water. Swimming becomes difficult or impossible as your breathing and muscles are affected by the cold. Eventually hypothermia sets in. Even if you are rescued, you may still die.

jam321, thank you for providing me with one of the few facts to be had in this sorry mess. I think their whole point is that they shouldn't have to ask Israel for permission.
