RSOE hasn't put Y back on as volano icon yet -

but this is interesting - they're showing on a photo satellite map the actual spot of the last earthquake - I'm going to try to see if they have all the earthquakes that close in - it will show if anything is closer to Mary Lake - since utah picture gets a bit messy with so many squares.

Utah edu - is showing 246 - they're well into their updates of yesterday's quakes - up from 206 where it was frozen all last night till 2am PST when the 3.ers started to blow

I have made a 3d representation in Povray of the last 240 earthquakes occured under Yellowstone lake. Earthquakes are the red spheres; the bigger and brighter the spheres, the bigger is the EQ magnitude. The black and gray long cylinders are on the North face of the gray box (representing the ground). Each cylinder subdivision equals 1 Kilometer.

It doesn't unfortunately look very clear, so suggestions are welcome.
Please don't ask me add a 3d surface model of Yellowstone park, as that would be too much for me, lol =)

Here's the link to the image:

Hey guys this is the graph of Mary Lake as of now. I circled the suspicious area. Hints of harmonic tremors? Opinions please, hopefully I am dead wrong.

Sorry guys didn't realize how big it was, I will try and make it smaller.

Here are the reasons I think magma is on the move..

If you look at the graph of YML it is noisy right now, and no quakes are occuring, these are microquakes/magma movement if anything. When this activity stops and the helicorder lines clean up then pressure begins to build again which causes another series of quakes to occur which allows for the magma to move causing the noise that we see now on the helicorder chart.

With the last episode of Mt. St. Helens the harmonic tremors were similar imo

LInk to archived MSH helicorder..

But we are nowhere near the level of activity that MSH culminated in. But these are two different animals entirely. So it is so interesting to watch, and see what happens....

FYI if you did not know already ,
the red center of the pulsating yellow is Mary's Bay.
There was a YLA mark just to the se of that.
( in ref to a previous inquiry you had)
That is the site of the last Football field eruption .

thanks for that 3d look -thats great!

could you add the coordinates of the entire area that you are covering in the gray box?

is it just lkwy?

uh - is it s just me or are the calif quakes moving towards the yellowstone quakes

check out current pulsating one

Woah I didn't notice that. Indeed excellent work, even more people working over time to spill over all the information flowing in here on YellowStone.

Excuse the under-educated question but what does it mean if the magma is on the move? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Wouldn't thermal imagery be able to tell something? Thanks for educating me if possible.

thanks - yeah it would have been easier if they had thought of another name - using Mary over and over on fault lines isn't ideal. we could start calling the other one Jesus

The gray box is there only to give more "volume" to the scene, that would otherwise look very flat and hard to decipher. The quakes you can see inside and immediately around it, though, are only those from the swarm occured directly below the lake.

I can't give you the exact world coordinates of the camera position or add in the image the exact coordinates of the box in an easy and quick manner, but I can put the camera at a known location.

trusername- Take a look at the graph for Mary Lake recently, it seems more harmonics and it seems to be showing up, albeit not as pronounced, on the others like YellowStone Lake.

That is the plate movement I have been talking about.
It has been increasing all year.
As the Q's head north along west coast there are more radial line stikes toward Y.
Experts believe the plate extends further in under the continent then they thought before.

wow, now that is 'intuitively' spooky

nice catch

Volcanic related quake at 07:00 LKWY

Compare that
to This

Shallow Volcanic EQs.

Also, a few scientists/geologists/rangers out and about surveying the region. Note the left one with a tripod, right one with a large equipment laden back pack.

As for questions on YML's current and other graph's previous 'harmonics'

Yes, those are harmonic tremors, or close enough to raise some eyebrows.

Keep a close eye out.

www.fema.gov...

FEMA is so full of crap. They say the worst was the 27th but it was the 29th and since this morning things aren't looking so hot either.

And there have been way more than 250 - since Bob Smith was quoted as saying 250 when Utah showed 80 and now Utah is showing 250 so they must be counting in the thousands really

FEMA always makes me want to look elsewhere for help - For Ever Messing Around

Harmonic/Vulcanic tremors starting at LKWY now?

OK, I have reviewed all the graphs in the park for what we are calling harmonics activity, both today and on the 29th. I looked to see if the "noise" showed up on which sensors. Observations below.

Reads as follows:

0=No
1=I don't think so
2=I think so
3=Yes
4=POLLACK

Site - Location - harmonics for now - harmonics for 29th

MCID - Moose Ck, ID - 1 - 3
LKWY - Lake Yellowstone - 2 - 3
YDC - Denny Ck - 2 - 2
YFT - Old Faithful - 2 - 3
YFB - Horse Butte - 1 - 2
YHH - Holmes Hill - 1 - 2
YJC - Joseph's Coat - 2 - 3
YLT - Little West Thumb - 2 - 3
YMC - Maple Ck - 1 - 2
YML - Mary Lake - 3 - 4
YMP - Mirror Lake Plateau - 3 - 4
YMR - Madison River - 3 - 4
YMV - Mammoth Hot Springs - 1 - 1
YNR - Norris Junction - 1 - 2
YPK - Parker Peak - 0 - 2
YPP - Pitchstone Plateau - 2 - 3
YSB - Soda Butte - 0 - 2
YTP - The Promontory - 2 - 3
YVF - Upper Falls - 0 - 1

Not the MOST scientific work I have ever done, but a decent attempt. the 1s and 2s really could go either way and is very subjective.

Thoughts? Has anyone else checked them all? Now I want this placed back on the map using the 0-4 scale to see if we can determine a geographic relation.

Are you sure just plate movements? I thought plate movements created sharp spikes rather than more of a steady pattern.
