It seems to have calmed down.
And now for the tirade.
Fracking UGH! ugh, u...ah man.
There is a reason I am very critical of our media. And I'll provide a relevant article from MSNBC.
The title is, "Huge Volcano Under Yellowstone Park Rising"
"It's building quickly, but doesn't mean doomsday eruption is imminent."
ah fu
Firstly, Yellowstone isn't rising at the moment. So the title is in correct. I understand you want to grab reader's attention, but this is dishonest.
It is not building quickly, it already did that and now it's been quiet for a long while and there is very little change. So it's not news, it's olds.
The study is new, and maybe that's where they should have kept the focus. On the fact that there was moving fluids, of one sort or another, that led
to a rise and caused two major swarms. No mention of the swarms in the article. If this guy had consulted the lunatic fringe, I could have given him
another perspective. This reporter has obviously very little knowledge of Yellowstone and what's happening at Yellowstone. They asked a few questions
and got a few good quotes, thought up a catchy headline, backtracked to provide cover and seem responsible, and then put together some facts in the
guise of a report. How about some research? Some objective context. Ten year kids would ask better questions and do more research.
That's better. I think I have a lung infection and will live. I'm a gonzo journalist so I don't need facts. But I try to provide them anyway to prove
a point if I have to. But the "real media" is supposed to do investigating and research. Not just be a echo chamber repeating everything they say
practically verbatim. In a ever increasing complex world don't we need more context and more facts, more dissent and critical thinking. It's known now
that every organization has public relations people that shape their messages and public perception. Shouldn't that make you more skeptical, not less.
I want to trust the media. I really, really do. But if they were doctors, I wouldn't let them operate on me. I wouldn't want to wake up and find out
my left kidney instead of the right because they didn't know the difference. Can't tell left from right. Nor up from down.
Yellowstone is not rising.
