Now you got it. There was about five quakes. These are real ones. But they are very very tiny on the magnitude scale. Even a 3 looks much bigger and lasts longer. You'll notice how they are sharper than the other noise. Most of which is vechiles and quakes from far away.

And I should add that large quakes from elsewhere may look very big. And look like they're in the Park. You have to check the other stations to see if they pick it up. You can start to locate them by checking with all the stations to find out where the signal is the strongest. And that's tricky because they are not all the same sensitivity.

Loud rumbly ones!

Audio of rumbles

That is quite a few in a short space. If you turn your sound up beware the loud one at the end. This is the bunch after 20:00 UTC

Forgot to say these are from B207 where they seem loudest.

Thats awesome. They sound like little explosions going off. How do you get to listen to them like that.

And a fresh one again,. They seem to be happening back to back. Like one explosion after the other.

Can I officially freak out guys?

I may be wrong. Never stopped me before. But isn't this the same area as the January 2010 swarm. There's another one.

I've never worn a foil hat. But I'm real tempted at the moment. If I stop writing here and you never hear from me again, I've dropped dead from a heart attack. I'm sure I'm fine. Sure it's lung infection. Shut up. I think I want to wear a tin foil hat to block out all the telemtry signals, and alike. I'm collecting tinfoil for real. Don't ask. Want to preform an experiment one day.

Guys something just happend at the last quake. At the 05 min mark I checked it and then opened the usgs in a new tab. I return again after a minute and the whole 15min cycle is complete in a min!! I find that strange, did anyone else notice that?

No, it's tiny. Wait til I freak out. At the moment, take the oppurtunity to look around the park and it's stations to understand what you're seeing.

You can freak out when people come out here posting large shallow quakes. So please relax. I'm the biggest alarmist of them all. If I'm calm, it's all ok.

And Puterman sound files sound scarrier than they really are. The snowplow sounded like the four horsemen of the apocolypse leading a stampede of hell demons.

It updates in big chunks. Some stations even lag others, or go offline completely.

I trust your judgement though.

In that case how do you know to trust what you see?

Yeay Micro Swarm :-) ! No need to freak out - but, did anyone notice we are on page 656. Ten pages to go. And of interest, we had C & M class Solar Flares today - they were not directed at earth - but interesting all the same.

Just love the sound effects!

I always feel like I have really dumb questions but for my peace of mind can you guys bear with me...so here come the questions...are micro swarms common? If it is at the same spot as the Jan 2010 swarm is that more concerning than any other spot at Yellowstone? Did you guys used to get concerned about every little thing like I am...I wish I understood and knew as much as you guys! I'm trying to learn though.

Swarms are very common at Yellowstone - been quiet lately though. Here is the YVO Home Page, there is a lot of information here on Yellowstone. You might want to review it and read up on the Most Frequently Asked Questions.

That was directed toward Puterman. Tongue in Cheek. Sort of. Don't take everything I say seriously. But I think I make it clear when I'm being serious and I have something important to say.

Even if there are dozens and dozens of quakes, this doesn't mean an imminent eruption. Even an eruption doesn't have to be gigantic. It could just flow.

In my opinion, location is very important, along with depth. Last year's swarm didn't even freak me out, even though it was the second largest on recond and ultimately consisted of thousands of quakes. And even though I predicted them and still I could get no one to fully investigate my larger ideas.

And if the quakes are localized, this is a good thing. If they start popping up (for real) all over the park, this would be disconcerning. Along with growing magnitudes. And visible, (made public) changes at the park.

As far as the concern, can we trust the information we get? Even though I am a visicous critic and skeptic, I have to find somewhere to place some trust. I don't trust anyone really. Not even myself. That's where learning comes in. The more you learn (know), the more you know (grow) (i had it wrong-had to edit). Stole that. The truth is not the offical version completely. It's been crafted. But the tin foil group are not fully aware of how things really function. Here' one thing that life has taught me. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Use reason and information to find out where to stop your guage.

Have fun and watch this phenomenon unfold in front of your eyes. You'll maybe get to see a significant swarm appear right there on the screen as it happens. Like watching the Egypt battle live on Al Jazzera.

There's been about eight quakes. There may be a few more. Or this may be it. Something seems to be brewing.

If something like another 1000 or so quakes is brewing, then it would be the fifth in a row at the start of the year, and that would make them cyclical.

I was thinking; earth has an iron outer core, and the rotation of the earth causes the the iron to rise up into columns that push into the soft mantle. Sometimes if these columns of iron get high enough they may form reservoirs of magma like Yellowstone or Hawaii. Remember the hot molten iron would melt some of the soft rock in the mantle and it upwards in the column. These iron columns are also said to be the origins of some of the magnetic field lines right? The iron in the columns would act as a rotating, convecting and electrically conductive liquid, capable of producing a magnetic field. So i was thinking, if a significant flare were to occur and a certain amount of solar radiation were to travel down one of the field lines to a hot spot, wouldn't that event cause the hot-spot to react in a particular manner?

To be honest, I don't know, and I don't think so. Lots of people are talking about pole reversal and magnetism.
But I haven't looked into it deep enough to give a good opinion. If bought into the whole 2012 thing I would know more.

And if you guys want to know why there's a bit of activity. That's because we were noting how quiet she was.
Volcanoes are like rebels. Often tempermental, and often contray.

When I go to look at the Yellowstone seismographs there are so many at different stations that I never know which one to look at...do you guys look at them all or do you have a different site that you go to?

Fact is for a pole reversal to happen the magnetic field would have to disappear completely. It is happening in some places where the magnetic field has vanished, but scientists predict that a reversal wont happen y=until about 200 years or so

But thats not the point. The point is, if there is a powerful flare, does the dynamo theory permit for an interference with hotspots.
