The Azores came to my mind, vulcanic and middle in the atlantic, so I took a look at wikipedia and there you have even some more:

Islands on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

The islands, from north to south, with their respective highest peaks and location, are:

Northern Hemisphere (North Atlantic Ridge):

1. Jan Mayen (Beerenberg, 2277 m (at 71° 06' N, 08° 12' W), in the Arctic Ocean
2. Iceland (Hvannadalshnúkur in the Vatnajökull, 2109.6 m (at 64° 01' N, 16° 41' W), through which the ridge runs
3. Azores (Ponta do Pico or Pico Alto, on Pico Island, 2351 m, (at 38°28′0″N 28°24′0″W / 38.466667°N 28.4°W / 38.466667; -28.4
4. Bermuda (Town Hill, on Main Island, 76 m (at 32° 18′ N, 64° 47′ W) (Bermuda was formed on the ridge, but is now considerably west of it)
5. Saint Peter and Paul Rocks (Southwest Rock, 22.5 m, at 00°55′08″N 29°20′35″W / 0.91889°N 29.34306°W / 0.91889; -29.34306

Southern Hemisphere (South Atlantic Ridge):

1. Ascension Island (The Peak, Green Mountain, 859 m, at 7° 59' S, 14° 25' W)
2. Tristan da Cunha (Queen Mary's Peak, 2062 m, at 37° 05' S, 12° 17' W)
3. Gough Island (Edinburgh Peak, 909 m, at 40° 20' S, 10° 00' W)
4. Bouvet Island (Olavtoppen, 780 m, at 54° 24' S, 03° 21' E)

New version of Quake Data is available.

====== What’s new in Version 3.4.0 Build 38 ======

  • Fixed today date problem on loading webicorder display.
  • Webicorder display fixed so that clicking view can access selected favourites if the text boxes are not filled.
  • Added View Stored Plot toolbar item to webicorder display.
  • You can 'fly' to the position the selected instrument in Google Earth.
  • View Stored Plot can use png (default). jpg, jpeg, bmp or gif files(non animated).
  • A total of 19 volcano web cams are now included in the menus.
  • An upgrade to the database is included which incorpoates the seismographs in the IRIS DMC database. This can be searched to locate an instrument.

    • There are 2060 active instruments in the new table, and each of these has at least one active channel, and numbers of them have multiple channels
    • Not all plots are maintained right up to the current date, but all those listed had plots within the last 6 days.
    • You can 'fly' to the position of any of the instruments in Google Earth.
    • There is a maintenance tool for maintaining the stations data.

  • Added a global plot facility to the charts for quakes above 4.0 magnitude. This means you can do the graphs like the ones I just posted in Quake Watch

As usual you can get the new program from my website. Link in my signature.

Please make sure you take a copy of your database before upgrading. You will find the database in C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\My Documents\QuakeData and it is called QDCData.sdf. You can use the backup in the program - easier!

I have tested it several times but, you just never know!!

OK, the next release of Quake Data is ready. Version 3.5.0 Build 39

Included, but really is still under development, is the display of webicorders as a slide show. As I have rushed this out for the cam snagger the plot section is not quite finished, but one of the menus does work which allows you to see a series of plots you have saved as a slide show.

What I am working on is a side by side version of this, and one which goes off an gets the plots before displaying them, i.e. you don't have to save them first.

If there is a problem please let me know as this was a bit of a rush job..The help has not been updated yet.

See Quake Watch or Volcano Watch for details on the Web cam snapper facility.

Yes Volcanoes are so much more visible

That is a cracker of a spike, or set of spikes, on B208. I think the later fuzz is probably wind. Have you listened to the trace? I think that one needs some investigation. I will take a look later when the daylight has gone and I don't feel guilty about being inside instead of in the garden!

Quake Data 3.5.1 Build 40 is now available.

This has UTC date controls so you can access the static Icelandic web cams. There is a slider that allows you to offset the time. You might have to play with it as daylight savings days are different in different regions.

If you double click the label showing UTC 00:00:00 it should tell you what you computer thinks is UTC to aid you in setting the slider.

There is a view only check box as well. You can just view the slides instead of having to save them, but SNAP NOW will save the current pic irrespective of the setting of 'View Only'.

Link in signature as usual, and of course free. Enjoy!

[edit on 28/3/2010 by PuterMan]

Folks if you were contemplating downloading the latest QuakeData just hold on. Version 3.5.2 coming very shortly with full size image viewing and 0.1 x to 3x Zoom.

In addition to view only mode you can set it to View Only but save every nth snap (a number between 2 and 50) so for example at 6 secs refresh setting the snap for every 10 would give you 1 saved image a minute with 6 seconds refresh.

VERSION 3.5.2 Build 41 NOW AVAILABLE

You can zoom to 100% and zoom to Fit as well as the above, and I have applied all the zoom facilities to the viewer for the webicorder plots as well.

Cue people freaking out over a single solitary event nowhere near previous swarm sites.

And it WAS shown in red, if you saw it within the hour.

not on mine either, and I purposely hit refresh every 15 - 30 minutes. And yes I have noticed a lot of time it goes directly to blue.

You can clearly see on the map it's nowhere near the lake, there isn't anything to "may be right" about.
