Whats going on at yellowstone?

A little earthquake occurred near YTP at 12:27 UTC.
Maybe 1.7-1.8 magnitude.

What all that little stuff at YMR and YMV do you think?

Did YTP just have a second little quake, just before 18:15 UTC ?

It also shows up on LKWY too.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's just my geological ignorance showing though...

YMR and YMV are sensitive to wind, maybe it's just that.
There also have been data glitches with some stations today (the weird flat lines).

3.1 in LA...I know that's a baby quake for them, but my browser has been shaking all day long.

I think it is interesting to note that the odd spikes today on the monitors, are the same monitors that had that odd block all at the same time two days ago.

Maybe someone went in and jiggled a cable or something.

I think this thread should become permanent but allowed to hibernate. It is inevitable that there will be more and better action in the future, though what we have just witnessed was impressive bay all standards.

1.March 20 1980 a 4.3 EQ. Swarm of small EQs after the 4.3
2.March 27. Steam explosions Around the mountain.
3.Apr 12. A Bulge is noticed.
4 Apr 17. The bulge is growing at 2-3 yards a day.
5.Apr 20. All EQs subside.
6.Apr.19. Cracks start showing up on the mountain.
7.May 12. AM. 5.2 EQ at 8.32. AM. Huge Land slide on mount.
8.May 12. 8.33 She blows out sideways.
9.May 12. 9.29. She blows up vertical.

Any of these events happening at YS.

I've bit my tongue more than once without speaking up!(webcams, etc) May have gagged on my foot once or twice also.
Who can blame me, ya get a little nervous when you do the math on this bad boy! Wouldn't be a good day.

If someone comes on here and says they can predict it with cow patties, hey if it saved my life I'd be mighty thankfull for this cow pattie readin' person!

My turn...looks fairly quiet today...a few small events on the east side looks like with some noisey/windy reading scattered around per usual...no new major updates on U of U...the calm before the storm?

more calmness. Not necessarily a calm before the storm, but just calmness has returned. After all, before all these events, it was calm. And that doesn't mean it was calm before the storm too. Just sayin!

watched the webcam today, it was rather nice out there! Too bad I couldn't have been there.

Hey guys - awesome thread -
I've been reading along with great interest. I have a friend from Hawaii who commented that for many months there was a cloud hanging from the volcano (Maua Loi? Not sure of the name) - and just recently he said it all cleared up. I asked him if it cleared up because of a wind change or the volcano stopped and he said both. I have no idea, but wondered if anyone here had thoughts on possible connections or relevance?
