I wish I took the time to study more...I wonder if all those recent Central/SoCal Events along fault lines are normal IE: The Tri ~M3.5+'s S of Tres Pinos, CA?

Any updates on the increased Silica discharge from the Geysers?
Do they even publish individual Geyser Chem Tests?

There's a weird wavy line at LKWY on 1-19-09 just after 4:15 UTC. I've found this same wavy line on over 20 recorders from Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Wyoming on PNSN and MBMG sites plus others. Can anyone tell me what those wavy lines mean? Just curious.

No offense, but you should start a separate thread on this board for cloud/earthquake discussions. This thread is about what is going on in Yellowstone.

No offense, BUT the clouds are a part or could be a part of what is going on at Yellowstone!

If you read about clouds, then you would know that water being compressed etc. underground can cause the "earthquake" clouds.

So the fact of the clouds is a MAJOR part of the Yellowstone thread, due to the fact - the whole U.S. having these type clouds....does that mean ..it could be coming from Yellowstone? Could something big be about to happen? The clouds seem to start being that way (look on the sat) east from Yellowstone......it is another piece of what is happening.

So I will say.....ignore the post of clouds, if you don't want to consider them as part of what is going on, that is your choice! BUT I will not stop looking at them in relation to Yellowstone.

Everybody provides different things to this thread.

Does that mean...someone should just do a thread of seismic monitors of Yellowstone....another thread about Old Faithful and the smoke from it.....another thread of how much snow has melted around it.....
In other words, people post varying aspects of what is going on.

So NO I will not stop.

This is very weird!

YWB station on GEE

Does it mean that the ground slowly changed inclination in 10 minutes?

Well, I for one am being turned off by your earthquake cloud posts. I second the call to put this information in a different thread. You have posted the same information twice now. I would be complaining to the moderators if I was a registered member. It's not fitting against the backdrop of the rather scientific discussion that is occurring here. Combined with some of your other comments here, I would suggest pausing and reflecting before posting to this thread. We don't need to hear about your headaches, or clouds, or whatever. If you don't like the fact that this thread has been very serious instead of sensational or conspiratorial, there is plenty of room here for you to go elsewhere.

Can we please get back to the serious discussion of the supervolcano?

It looks like a "drift" in the DC Offset Voltage used to Re-Center the input scaling after a event...probley nothing...looks like it ended at a high point on the last event and is over-correcting it's self...

caused by magma ?? .. a good chance ... has magma actually ascended in fault zone or is it still at depth causing slippage on fault planes around the resurgent dome(s) due to increased strain on underside of dome (also a good chance ...) ... doubt that even the professionals know for sure ....

et tu ; seismo jock sniffer ?????

That is a teleseism (far off earthquake trace) from a 6.8 that occurred off the coast of New Zealand. It took a while to get to the Yellowstone helicorders and was pretty distorted when it did.

Go to site click on hot spots scan down the page for google map to see it listed that way or events by date and it will generate a report for you. The Google map version is great...Amazing. As posted earlier that is the page you are looking for you can click on each date though and it will generate a report for you.

Cirrus clouds. And cold. Big giant cold front + cirrus clouds does not equal calamity. Note that last week they were over the midwest, when they were under this cold front, now they are over the East Coast, which is frigid.

The incredibly frustrating thing about this is that eventually there will be a major earthquake somewhere in the US and you'll be saying, see? I told you! - since there's no apparent time limit on this type of "prediction."

More pictures of non-scary clouds:

"alto-cumulus" - also known as cumulo-cirrus:
images.google.com...

About these clouds, which typically precede cold fronts:
en.wikipedia.org...

It would be different if you had a picture of an "earthquake cloud" over the Yellowstone area, but the pictures of Satellite maps showing cold weather clouds over the East Coast are really a bit much.

IMHO Quakewatcher you are correct, these are not earthquake clouds. This does not lessen the relevance of keeping at watch on clouds, and I need to do a bit more research on the subject before commenting further.

These cirrus clouds spread right across the Atlantic to Ireland yesterday and yes for Ireland it is cold. We have actually had some of that strange white stuff I believe they call snow!

I download the satellite images for Western Europe weather daily (keeping an eye out for the ash cloud
). Unfortunately it does not cover the US. I could do with a link to a good satellite picture site for the US if anyone has one.

(My lol was not working - Ah now I understand why)

Geeze, is there some sort of electromagnetic phenomenon going on in YS we're not able to track?

Either they have the worst luck with equipment, or something.

That idea has been mentioned multiple times by people knowing what they are talking about.

The problem is, that the hole would be insta filled with magma so the idea isnt really good. - Since there is no doupt that there is so much magma in that champer it is amazing.
