Very cool. Thanks a bunch. I wouldn't be too enthused about climbing up 25 ft in a tree to clean it, either...

A little while ago there were two people standing in front of the web cam in shorts with a sign that said "heat wave"
It's just a little over freezing there today.

I wonder if that means the data under the static camera is wrong then. It says "and 13 degrees F at Lake Yellowstone, WY "

Yeah, I don't think that's right. The national weather sites have the highs in the upper thirties - 40 tomorrow! We'll be seeing most of that snow melt around the geysers.

One web site I was at said it is currently 8C or 46F at YS right now. It can't be that cold as the webcam just showed a couple wearing shorts.

I haven't been able to get anything on GEE since about 9 this morning.

No stations showing up, and can't add any networks.

Yep... Same here. At least it's not me. I've been using it for just a few days and sure miss it

I tried to check the SQUIDGUI for the strain guage readings and the servers are off-line. I wanted to check if any of the events this afternoon showed up on B208 "Bore Hole 208" at the North End of the lake.

Probabaly tech time on Saturday afternoon.

The event just after 14:00 today seems to have cleaned up the pipe cleaners. My guess is we are back into building strain phase and should expect another small quake swarm late Sunday or early Monday.

The status of health on the GPS stations will typically provide the current temperature. Check center column of data under heading weather.

It is warm in Yellowstone compared to most of the US.

Current Health Status LKWY

They have to track the baraometric preasure for data normalization so they have a mini weather station with each one.

I’ve been doing a little research on LKWY and found that there are only two locations in YNP with air monitor gages, at West Yellowstone entrance and at Old Faithful. The Air Monitor Station is at the NP complex at the Lake but apparently no gage there. So not sure an air compressor as the source of the noise on LKWY fits.

From what I can gather, the LKWY seismic and GPS instruments are above the NP complex on Elephant Back Mt. About a mile away from the NP complex. Also I think there is a large water storage tank in this same area as the instruments. Found this pic of the GPS instrument. Are the square blocks in the picture the seismic instruments?

It could be trucks. It's hard to say.

I have noticed there are major rumbles which are larger on the east side (YSB, YMP, YPK) like the one at 21:21 UTC today. I think some of these rumbles are coming from the coal mines in Wyoming which use large amount of explosives to remove the overburden.

I am going to lean more towards at least 72 hours...or more. (up to a week) There have been a couple of significant quakes down south in the past day, so I think it will be a few days before anything builds up further North.

We will see!

I know, I know.. I'm anonymous too. lol But, I don't really wanna start an account here. But, I agree with the other anonymous poster. Most of the time, when I've looked here, due to the nature of the forums, I'm like... sure. And then I started reading here, expecting nothing but doom and gloom and instead I find quite the opposite. People looking for real answers and finding alternatives aside from "head for the hills." Explanations to things, as well as rationalizations instead of "It's going to blow!!" I'm highly impressed with most of you for your rationalizations, your deep thinking, and your thorough research. Nicely done to all of you.

Inspiration has struck again. I was looking at a seismo trace and thought, wouldn't it be cool if you could just click on a big spike and see if they recorded any quakes around that time? And so I wrote it. Whenever you click anything that opens a trace image, instead of getting just the GIF itself, you get a clickable overlay on it that'll open a report for anywhere from three minutes before your click to 30 seconds after it. Very useful. I find it fascinating that so many quakey-looking things weren't actually Yellowstone quakes, and that so many recorded quakes apparently leave no trace on a seismo. I'll start you off with a good example one...

"Enjoy!"

Thank you very much!
By the way, how are you doing on bandwidth? As far as cost goes?
I don't want to see you break the bank to keep us going.
again, thanks
