Thanks for backing me up on a couple of my previous posts regarding the pipe cleaners a couple of pages back. I'm in total agreement.

Regards, Ric...

I think images too wide (wider than 600 pixels if I remember well) or linked inside [ QUOTE] [ /QUOTE] tags won't show up.

I've had absolutely no problems with photobucket. When you click on get links like I posted previously they give you a list of url's for various uses. The bottom one is for posting images on forums and such. I have simply been copying that url and pasting it into my post. Voila! Not familiar with flicr but I can't imagine there would be much difference. As for size - I have not had to resize any of the images and I have not had to upload them into member center beforehand either. I hope this helps! Was frustrating for me til I figured it out. Now it's easy-peasy.

No problem. I think we've got the same interpretations of a lot of this because both of us have quite a few years of electronics and radio experience. We've both probably done a LOT of oscilloscope viewing, and that kind of garbage is all too familiar.

You tend to develop a pretty immediate "filtering" of what you see on any kind of time/amplitude displays like this based on lots of experience.

And with both of us being based in Wyoming, and maybe being somewhat familiar with the Yellowstone area, we probably tend to think the same things about the weather-related issues as well.

Since they kind of warn us about posting personally identifiable information here, I'm not going to post my call sign, but I am another ham nerd, too

Testing.

If this shows up, then that means that the images I've been trying to embed are too large and that's what's "filtering" them out of my posts.

If that's the case, then that's fine

EDIT:

Nope, that's not it. Still can't embed. I can only link to Flickr-hosted photos.

Odd.

Another EDIT"

Here it is, hosted at ATS's own space, in my member upload space.

I guess this site just cannot embed an image hosted at Flickr. Strange, very strange!!!!

Yet one more EDIT:

OK, That's it, then. ATS simply will not embed anything from Flickr the way I am seeing this. Alllllrighty then! If I want to embed an image, I'll have to open an account on a different photo hosting service OR upload to ATS's space. Bummer, dudes!

Well I'm bummed out a bit.

Mt. Washburn isn't going to be useful for telling us the conditions of Yellowstone Lake. I put the Google Earth at the Mount Washburn position, spun the camera to look south and then tabbed between the cam and the GE.

Then I dropped the elevation down to roughly tower height and discovered that Yellowstone Lake is only a visible sliver.

Next I put the GE point down where all the white would is on the cam and looked around at ground level. There is a ridge that cuts off visibility and it's miles from the lake.

*bleh*

I've been following this thread. I emailed USGC and they sent this response regarding Yellowstone Lake's Helicorder for 1/16/09:

The "pipe cleaners" that are showing up on the seismogram is from some kind of interference and are not related to any seismic activity.
You have probably already found this informational page on drum recorders: quake.usgs.gov... but here it is just
in case you missed it. I have also sent a "cc" to the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory.

This was from:

How in the world do you embed an image into a post? Even when I enclose the link to the photo within the (note, I've used curly brackets instead of the real ones so this won't trigger something odd), I do NOT get the image embedded into the post.

Instead, it just shows up as a different kind of link.

And yet, I see photos and graphs embedded into peoples' posts here.

What's the secret?

Use
, not ... that will embed your own hosted images..

..but would they tell us if they did know something? i think not, the gov. will do what it takes to keep mass hysteria down

As Jake said USGS would lose credibility if they did that. However the government?........

politicians and most of the rich have underground "cities" in case of something like this "a global disaster"

It's called fresh meat for the survivors

you want a positive note? ok, just think in a thousand years after the explosion everything will be brand new

But unfortunately we will not be around to see it.

Also I'm still seeing that surge of water approximately in the same time those pulses go off.

You have my attention......

Brilliant pic of OF

-------------------------
So summarising my catch up: The snow is melting faster than it should be, TSG - the geyser that is not - is cleaning it's vents with pipe cleaners, and there are caterpillars in LKWY. oxox stacie appears to have swallowed a shelf full of university books, and Yellowstone has become an Elephant! A white one?

On a final note UK citizens have been getting double money at a couple of ATM's. The banks moaned that it took 6 hours of this happening before anyone told them!

See my u2u (top of the page if you are not sure where it is)

Not off topic by the way as this relates to audios of seismic waveforms.

Anyone looking at the Old Faithful cam right now? There is almost no snow around that whole flat area - even a distance from the geyser.

just a quick note:
Mt Baker, Washington (volcano), is known to have a real decent vapor plume, but only in right winter conditions usually.. usually quite cold temperatures , clear skies, calm winds, (makes it visible , I guess ) ... So, I guess I am saying, don't discount local atmospheric conditions for unusual vapor plume appearance at a geyser ....

perhaps Violet can look out her window and tell us what Baker is doing right now ??

Wow, did you see how far out the camera had to pan to get that last Old Faithful eruption? Not even a hiccup under ground though, just your ordinary every day Yellowstone spectacle.

Interesting, the Old Faithful cam is on another geyser, the one a little farther away that spews water. I think it has been at least 5 mins and it still is spewing water, I haven't seen one last that long before, is that normal for that geyser?

It is still spewing

I've seen that big one through the trees go off for 20 min at a time, the water shoots up over the trees.

Looks like the cam is on Geyser Hill now, with the sunset in the background. This one is really spectacular when it all goes off because it looks like the water is just shooting up from all over the ground.

Can't see anything on the webcam for all the steam right now. I suppose that's just the wind's fault though.

I agree there is a ton of steam that is blocking the camera right now.
It is hard to see any thing.

Gorgeous at the Washburn cam right now, with sunset

Mt Washburn and OF cams both went of line. At the same time.

Must have been a tempory internet blip. They are back up now.
