A teleseism is a technical term for "distant earthquake".
By the way, I suggest people to open GEE, then add the WY network in the Station Chooser and then monitor the YPC station's EHZ channel (which is not included in the webicorder page). It's almost in the middle of the "action", and catches even the smallest earthquakes occurring beneath there.

I've tried - GEE finds it, adds it, but then there are no stations, no way to access it . . . . I've tried multiple times.

Any suggestions?

The way I do it is...open Gee (wait 4 it 2 load up)...edit...station chooser...(top left) add network...(another window will pop up)...scroll down to wy and click it...(station window will show progress at bottom ie:100%)...go back to real time tab and zoom into wyoming area (or other if using other networks)..it should show about double "tri's" than normal...hightlight 1 (blue/grey) with outlines...then top "load real time data"...

I've gotten "some" to display...think they're not all online yet or what have you...keep trying or ???

That is a good eye!
I mentioned before that I've been receiving
ENS emails customized for me, for over a year now
and noted I have seen a connection here also.
It is a handy little system!
I have it set to notify me of certain quakes.
Case it helps anyone or FYI

I am pretty sure that the UofU runs that one and it would seem that every time things start acting up in a major way as far as the 3 pointers they pull it off line and it suddenly comes back when the events are slower. I remember RF saying that they have an auto transfer to make it available to them only when it is triggered so perhaps they are still sitting on it.

During my interview with Dr. Louis Turi, he mentioned January 18 and 19, 2009 as dates in which something will cause forced relocation. He predicted Katrina and the Asian tsunami. I immediately asked him about Yellowstone and the most recent earthquakes and he would not admit/deny that this could be it.

I doubt it.

If Yellowstone blows, the only place you will be able to relocate to is the moon.

That's because GEE tries to add by default channels unsupported by WY network seismometers. You've got to manually select them:

Orientations > All Channels
Channels > EHE, EHN, EHZ (for 3-component seismometers) or EHZ only (single component seismometers).
Only then, when you'll click "Load Real Time Data" on the map, charts will appear.

Oh I know. That was just my sad attempt at making a funny.

I always have issues believeing in these such "predictions" for the main fact that for every time they predict something right, there is 5 more things they predict wrong.

Check out this page.

More in detail this is what they mean for a NORMAL volcano alert level:

Volcano is in typical background, noneruptive state
or, after a change from a higher level,
volcanic activity has ceased and volcano has returned to noneruptive background state.

USGS speaking out of both sides of their mouth - They aren't putting it at least at yellow - but it clearly doesn't meet the conditions for "green". It is obviously not in its noneruptive background state.

By the way, with data from WY stations it's possible to properly calculate approximately the local magnitude (magnitude "felt" at the seismometer location) of an earthquake, as they report the amount of movement (in nanometers, micrometers, millimeters, etc) instead of its velocity (nanometers/sec, micrometers/sec, etc).

For earthquakes close ( 0.4 micrometers, local magnitude is log10 (0.4) = -0.39 magnitude (very small). This calculation is not directly possible with US (USGS) stations like US.LKWY (or at least I don't know how to properly convert micrometers/sec to micrometers to do the math).

Have fun!

I pick all channels & 3 but 2/3's are still gray & won't load up...you can get them to? amazing...or it's just me...right? (no sarcasm intended...)

That's just it - I do this, it finds the network, goes through its process - completes it . . but no WY stations . . . nothing . . . .

I have tried several times. . . . .

Wish I knew...I even tried the all/3 channel option/1 channel option...nadda...when I first got this software I had problems with Peerguardian & McAfee Firewall/Comcast Router Firewall (if that ain't enough!!!!!!!!) but, maybe I'll just be satisfied with what I got...(better than a Boot 2 da head!)

Yeah, I don't have that - I found WY in the Add Network, cllicked on it, the program did its thing to add the WY network, finished, said it had done so, but nothing shows up like on your image in the Station Chooser. Also, I don't have the images of all those stations on the map like you do.

You may have either a Java problem (try downloading the latest version) or a firewall problem (check out here).
