No offense man but you have your head up your a££.
The only people who are giving out about the US here seem to be from countries who are wealthier/just as wealthy & more technologically advanced/as advanced as the US so quit with the 'best country in the world' crap. The only ones who buy that are either from the US or trying to emigrate there. Very few others care about armies because most people are sick of war. Obviously not you though.

Your views are the definitive common result of the propaganda and nationalist, fascist conditioning that have been projected at you since you were old enough to see.

We won't hold it against you because you are a product of your environment

I love America, I would not live in any other country for my home. I traveled abroad when I was young with my parents, I found everything and everywhere to be interesting, but not home.

Home for me is in the southern state of GA, and just like people in the US have an uninformed stereotype of southerners, people around the world have an uninformed stereotype of all of America. I don't know what or if anything could ever change that , but in the meantime, I will remain a steel magnolia by choice. American by choice, Southern by the Grace of God.

As far as the US loving thier troops,(though not 100% true) well yes that should be understandable that we do, they, for the most part are our Fathers, mothers, sons daughters, etc..

As far as expecting the rest of the world to care about our soldiers, I don't think that is actually, nor realistically expected. But with that being said, we do find it very disconcerting when our "allies" even our own citizens,or the people(gov't?) that asked for our help are the ones "laughing" at our losses..

As far as expecting other nations not to support thier troops, I personally think that Americans take it for granted that they do support them, and find it hard to fathom otherwise..Just as we mourne for our own losses we expect the same of our "foes" that is just human.

But also realize that in the US. there are plenty of people that do "laugh" at US losses, and there are plenty of Patriotic Americans that do care and do mourne for our "enimies"(even some soldiers) as well as others..

I guesse what I am trying to say is that like all other countries, The US. Can not be described in "absolutes", and even "generalizations" are difficult..

Yes, largest GDP for a nation. I never said it wasn't. That doesn't dissipate down through the people though - which is what i meant.

Selfrighteous

I love America, and I am blessed to have been born in America! The problem I have is; taking prayer out of schools, taking God out of various things, taking the Ten Commandments out of schools and buildings. If we continue this downward spiral, America will lose it's Godly protection! In God We Trust!

There has always been a 'greatest' country in the world throughout history. It usually only lasts a while until the bubble bursts. The US bubble has just burst.

You classify your country as the greatest because you have the most powerful military, not everyone is into that kind of thing. If you cant understand that fact and the fact that not everyone wants to live in the US.. then I don't know what else to say to you.

I understand why you like to go on and on about how great your country is and all that but you also have to understand that not that many people care because we also have excellent standards of living, are wealthy, are tech advanced, are democratic/republic, have free markets, excellent healthcare and educations.

I also live in a continent where all the large countries thought they were the worlds 'greatest' over the past 1000 years and ended up constantly obliterating each other until we got so sick of it, we made it illegal to fight against each other.
So when we see the US doing the same thing and US citizens being ultra nationalist, you can understand why it makes us want to turn the other way or else say something. But TBH the latter gets us absolutely nowhere as you can see with the conversation we are now having.

The """Greatest""" country in IMO is Japan. Extremely advanced, very intelligent population, high morals based on honour not religion, wealthy, safe and with a non disruptive foreign policy.

Here is what I think we should do, to be fair and balanced,

Ta Da , let's have, Hate a Country and its People Day.
www.nationsonline.org...

WE can start here,
www.nationsonline.org...

Now then, we will investigate these countries and their governments, and peoples, and see which country wins, the coveted,

drum roll please,

"Most Hated Country Of All Award."

wadda ya think?

I think America is sure to win,

Why?

Because we are the best at everything, even best hated.

I believe that we can be proud to be Americans, and at the same time not very proud to see the direction the country has gone in the last 50 or so years.

I am proud of our countrys history, our founding fathers and the sacrifices they made, and throughout the wars we've fought for freedom I'm proud of our servicemen and women.

BUT! I'm not proud of shady politicans with agendas, taking God from our country and schools, and big government that teeters on the brink of communism.

It's unfortunate, and scary if you have children, to see the country you love heading for uncertain and troubled times. All we can do is prepair ourselves for the worst and hope for the best.

basically America is the best country in the world and the most powerful. everyone hates us because we are a better more powerfull country than they are and they are jealous. end of story dont even bother arguing. we have the largest GDP in the world, the most sophisticated military which is also the most powerful military..... basically we are the best

Why do people equal sophisticated military with success? Why do they think that having state of the art weapons means they're the greatest?

Here's some facts for you, which I mentioned in another thread a cpl of days ago.

In the top 100 list of militaries (by size of men and arms) the US is first.Iraq doesn't even make the list.Yet the Iraq war has raged unsuccessfully for 5yrs,over 4000 US soldiers have been killed,an obscene amount of money has been spent and there's still no end in sight.

Surely a country with such sophisticated and state of the art weaponry as America, would find themselves in a much more victorious situation as they do now.

Weapon power means sod all if your leaders don't have a damn clue.

hahaha, you are so ignorant, everything i said is a fact, and there is no country with more money than the good ol' USA just look it up our

Dude, your country is in debt to a tune of $10,563,454,408,274.69 (and counting)
www.brillig.com...

if america isnt the best, who else could possibly have any type of claim of greatest country?

Doesn't that depend on what you qualify as best?
To someone like you its money and military,to others its education, health, low crime levels etc etc.

o wow irish? now there is a great country! hahahaha wow more like the worst country in europe

I can't believe someone actually starred this ignorant comment.

Why?
Why should people not of a Christian faith be made to say prayer etc?
Its different if its a particular church's own flock you're talking about, but you seem to imply everyone should be saying prayer and living by the 10 commandments.

I love America.

I love the people in America.

And i love the idea of freedom that it stands for.

I love my children. If they are sick or bad, I will simply repeat, I love my children. If they start to grow into bad, weak, worthless people because of that, I can put on a lapel pin! Never fix or address what is wrong with the things you love. Just blindly repeat that you love it over and over. Get back to me in a few years and let me know how your car runs, children are, country is, etc.

Actually. No they do not hate Americans ... Now, the Government that is bankrupting its citizens are extremely disliked through out the world universally. but the American People ... No, the worlds people want to help us take care of ours and their ills ... the ill that has gripped America by the testicles is the same nightmare that has gripped them by them as well.
No One on Earth Like USA Government they see them as the nightmare, sort of speak.
the constitution talks about how to do it ... but are we really that far down that road. I mean we still let them have our children for god sake...

I think it is too early - or maybe its just I know how bad it can get and its not there yet... I dont know... Just dont start the revolution without me.

Yawn!

The war in Iraq is pretty much done, Get over that fact!

The new Iraqi Government is now taking the raines and will run the show from now on get over that fact.

4000 soldiers dead in 6 years yeah a shame I agree, far cry though from Vietnam, Korea, and WWII get over that fact.

Wishing is one thing facing facts is a real pain.

I am pretty sure that the point was that 4000 dead soldiers, countless dead contractors, and 6 years later the worlds mightiest army is (maybe) wrapping things up in the desert. Kind of takes the sting out of america's might. That was the point and all you did was offer that same point up again, thanks.
