ABC NEWS

News needs facts.

Was there anything in the article that was a false statement?

I posted this in the other forum, but it is most definitely more suitable in this one.

According to MacDonald, most delusions begin with general, unexplained feelings of discontent that are caused by a problem with the brain. It's only when someone tries to search for an explanation for their feelings that a delusion forms.

I think I'm being followed

Am I being followed or is it just paranoia?

I'm under surveillance, please help

Invisible force pressing on my chest while I sleep

Only 10 days left until huge predicted earthquakes!

Being Followed?

I think my Boyfriend is a reptile!

Reptilian Paul McCarthy & Hillary Clinton

Do Reptilians Control Our Dreams?

Another Paranoid Individual

Am I being Overly Paranoid?

My seemingly over-paranoid plans

Am I just incredibly paranoid?

Is anyone else paranoid?

Am I just paranoid?

Has 911 made us all paranoid?

I'm paranoid

Paranoid? Or could it be ghosts, or something else?

Truman Show syndrome and ATS paranoia

Need I continue?

Edit: Are conspiracy web sites contributing to paranoia? I think so.

Wow, nice compilation!

It took a few pages of bickering but the evidence finally surfaced!

I did a search myself and found lots of pages of threads of people who are paranoid. Delusional is still up for debate.

Conspiracy sites are a good tool to get people use to the idea if indeed some of this stuff is true. Id rather know in increments than have it popped on me in my commute to work.

Good thing about this site is every so often you will have a squeaker thats had hands on up close and personal experience with the conspiracies and wants to talk. I can gurantee ATS is not paying them speaker fees like if Colin Powell was to go on a book tour lecture.

Flipside...conspiracy websites will continue because it serves the ones that rule behind the scenes on some level. Because if it didnt they would definately not be here..especially Alex Jones where about 95% of his info is documented by mainstream media, university scholars, and gov archives to be pretty dead on. However his wild eyed bubba style presentation of the information discredits him. So he serves a purpose.

This morning ABC had an article implying that conspiracy websites are contributing to mental health issues, therefore they should not be allowed.

Do we really care what the mass media says?

They are clearly supporting a criminal government to the detrement of us all. Aren't they really a big part of the problem?

Should we be planning an alternate way besides the internet to contact one another and keep spreading the truth?

Sooner or later it will probably come to that.

Does this website contribute to mental health issues?

YES!!!!!

Some of the cr@p people have posted on here makes you think that they are absolute nutters!

What you have to do with this website is sift through the B.S. and look for the stories with some actual credibility that can be verified by DOING YOUR OWN RESEARCH!!!!!

People will rush to believe anything they read or see on this site without doing any research at all and they will take what they have read or seen as the truth and become paranoid.

An example i found recently was the thread saying that Jesus Christ was borrowed from Ancient Egyptian Religion and called Horus. The thread said something like Horus was born on Dec 25th, had 3 kings visit him, was resurected on the 3rd day etc. and a bunch of people believed it to be true just because they saw it in a VIDEO!

JUST AS WE QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF NEWS FROM MAINSTREAM MEDIA, WE MUST ALSO QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF STORIES, THEORIES AND SO CALLED FACTS THAT PEOPLE PUBLISH ON THIS SITE!

People could blatantly get followers using this website by making people believe a conspiracy and get them to join some kind of cult. I'm sure some quack out there has that type of agenda.

DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU WATCH ON YOUTUBE OR READ HERE ON ATS.

While belief and/or inquiry into probable conspiracies is not a sign of mental illness, I have read many threads full of comments that just scream 'Come and lock me up please, I am a delusional nutter' You only have to look into the 'supernatural' or religous forums to see these in abundance.

So what I'm saying is membership of a site like this means nothing, belief in political/secret socieites is healthy, but waking up with demons at the end of your bed, or seeing angels or UFO nuclear holograms in the WTC is to me a clear sign of A) Incredible ignorance/stupidity or B) Mental illness.

Would you say that this place made them that way or that this place allows you to seem them?

No I wouldn't say this site made them anyway. Poor critical thinking abilities coupled with a low IQ and poor education should do the trick.

Absolutely. The addition of delusional conspiracy theories is just another ingredient into the mix.

Conspiracy web sites are contributing to mental health issues. So is the state of the economy, the state of two failed wars in the middle-east, and the unemployment rate to mention a few.

The word "contributing" is what makes this a true statement.

The one thing that differentiates between the conspiracy theory websites and the latter is that, conspiracy theory websites not only tell you that the economy is bad (for example), they tell you the economy is bad and it's never going to get better. Or, they tell you the wars are bad, and they are going to turn into a nuclear WW3. Or, they tell you the unemployment rates are bad, and that China isn't going to stop until they have all of our jobs.

I believe it is the further development into 'theory' building off of these initial fears which drives the popularity of these websites, as well as builds false additions to the initial factual reports.

The word delusion is to be diagnosed individually and no mass assumption can be made that everyone who believes these are delusional. It does however seem to create a bridge of possibility.

The complete lack of examples makes it not a true statement but a thought left yet to be unproven. Why do you insist these things are facts? There has not been one fact yet related to any of this. You seem to be obsessed with justifying this story somehow. I have no idea if your personal investment of not wanting to take back things you said is in the way but words like "fact" and "true" mean something where I come from. You have not used them correctly once yet.

Show me. Just show me the mental health issues these sites are contributing to. Do not list stuff you think it is or stuff two doctors think it is. Show me the cases or the reports or the studies. Any kind of real actual evidence will do.

15 posts up and slightly to the left.

Sigh.

THE COMPLETE LACK OF EXAMPLES OF WHAT THIS STORY IS ABOUT.

That better?

Not one of those shows me someone who has been determined to have their illness contributed to by a conspiracy website. Just stop. You really are just looking to argue now. I ask for facts, get none. I ask for examples and I have to specify that I was talking about examples of what the thread is about?
