Still Skeptical??
My sister lives in Ashland, Ohio. Less than 5 minutes from LaGrange, Ohio.
She also emailed the lady. The lady responded to my sister as well. My sister also read about the story in the local paper. She also drove to the food coop.

This definitely happened.

For any of you still not believing it, you are all morons.

BTW, the cops were real and not fake cops as so many poeple oroiginal thought.

It may be hard for you to accept but our government took an innocent families 1 year stored food supply.

Why?????????????

I'm still skeptical. I read that email and I didn't see SWAT anywhere. I saw "armed men". That could be a couple of Sheriff's deputies who were there to serve papers.

They want us to eat the food they grow for many reasons. The shots given to the cow throughout it's life bring a corporate business cash, the chemicals sprayed on the fields bring another one money, and most importantly your not feeding into the US economy but instead a families economy. So therefor I'm guessing that un-industrialized beef earned it's name from the above properties.

I've also already tryed to obtain theses records but Legrange, Ohio has yet to make an online database for their police records. So I have been unable to obtain those files as of yet.

I can agree with that, these people could be leaving out vital points of the Raid. It could even be related to tax evasion but I still don't understand why they seized their food. The only way I can think that would be possible is if they were using some chemical to process food; that or the lack there of.

I think one thing you need to check is the fact that a Co-OP biz is one that is supplied by a number of producers and the head of the co-op is the one that packages it. So technically they arent the only ones in trouble here.

edit to add
Just had a thought mabe this is why they took all the records and computers????

Wow, great investigation work, I am impressed - you emailed them and got a response back.

I hope you keep in touch with them and can let all of us know what is going on. You can tell us, if they are ever charged with anything, when they get their items back etc.

Please keep us informed, due to the fact - what continues with this situation will give all of us a heads up - on what is going to become the "norm" with regards to people being able to buy and sell food in their own groups.

I believe right now - depending on how this comes out - we are treading on dangerous ground.

A very scarey thought, it's almost as if they want us to eat something specific. Well it's not an almost at all, clearly they want us to eat USDA beef and products; I'm not sure if this would better the economy in their eyes or possibly there;s something in the food they want us to EAT!!!

That would further solidify the claim that the government wants us to regular ingest a certain type of by-product. Could you possibly find a link to what you're refering too.

The only thing I can think of why this family wouldn't shout from rooftops could be attributed to one of two factors. One the family is very religious I'm not exactly sure about their denomination but this may prohibit them from really seeking public retribution. Two the family is so terrified from the invasion that they don't exactly know how to proceed, sort of shell-shocked; the police raided when the whole family was present children and all so I don't doubt they are also thinking about their childrens welfare.

I think if it was local law enforcement she would have stated so, living in the country makes you more apart of the community and if the men that raided the house were such she probably would have stated so. I'm just wondering what exact organization is responsible for this raid, I can't find a single local news source refering to this family's debokle. We'll have to see what the next snip it of information she sends me states.

Yes, I can confirm that we had armed men in our home on December 1, 2008. They took thousands of dollars worth of beef, lamb, poultry as well as our computers, cell phones and business records. At this point, we have not talked to the press except to confirm what I just told you - we have been putting our energies into restoring our families and our home. Please know that as soon as we have a statement ready for the press, I will send it to you.

Thank you for your concern. It is a tremendous blessing to our family.

Dangerous ground indead one of the first steps to policing a population is food control. I'll do my best to forward any further information; I'm just surprised no one else decided to do what I did and just email them. Seems like the most common sense thing to do and it worked, took me sometime but I rather enjoy investigating; I suppose thats why I enjoy ATS so much. I'm going to try to send one more email to hopefully ask a few extra questions.

Great story although this only brings more of a grey area to the subject matter; now the government could possibly be setting up local businesses to fail with a diseased animal. This could be a similair problem that the Stower family just encountered, not injecting their beef may have prompted for the government to seize food for the right to obtain it by disease control. Not exactly sure where this rabbit hole is going but it seems it goes much much further down, keep your eyes peeled I'm sure something else will happen locally if there is any warrant to this.

Also Rabie's shots are extremely painful I believe it is about a series of 10 or 12 shots, directly injected into the stomach. Now that will wake you up in the morning or make you so terrified you wouldn't buy anything from that little local dairy.

Very true indead, the message on the family site could shed some light on this, but yes your very right that they are probably not the only ones in trouble. I bolded a very key line in this about us section from their website:

Manna Storehouse began 9 years ago as a small ordering group called the Stowers Co-op. At the beginning, it was run by John & Jackie Stowers and their 2 oldest boys, Chris & Chad. Eventually we expanded from 3 families to over 60 regular customers. Within the last 3 years, we have gone through a major transition time. We began ordering on a weekly basis, plus splitting cases for our customers and selling the left over items as retail. Thus, the Stowers Co-op became Manna Storehouse, creating what is now a non-working food co-op.

One of the reasons we began Manna Storehouse was to make it as affordable and convenient as possible for people to eat healthy. It is our belief that food is best as God intended nature to produce; no antibiotics, growth hormones, chemicals, food dyes or other man-made additives. That is why we began searching out the best sources for all natural and organic food ourselves. We have been encouraged to find many farmers who are researching and working towards restoring their soil to the proper vitamin & mineral balance, therefore enhancing the nutritional value of the foods they produce.

In our searching, we have come in contact with farmers and families all across Ohio that produce beef, pork, eggs, milk, cheese, produce, poultry, grains, etc… When we talk with a potential supplier, we always go and visit with them to get a feel for who they are and what they do. This allows us to observe the surroundings in which they operate, so we know how their animals are being treated and fed, how their land is being maintained, and how their business is run. Doing this gives us an opportunity to establish and continue a relationship based on common goals and to share ideas and information on how to best reach these goals. All of the farmers we have relationships with have the same heart and mentality as we do about food; that it should be all natural, as God intended it to be. Plus, the majority of our suppliers are from Ohio! We love supporting local organic farmers and businesses as much as possible.

Manna Storehouse continues to be run by John & Jackie, their son Chad and his wife Katie, plus a lot of help from all of the younger children and grandchildren! Our goal is to someday have a building with a work/storage area in back and a retail area in front. If you ever want to contact or visit us, please feel free to stop by anytime during our hours.

This part from their website entitles "Pastured Meats" may shed some light on the subject matter as well; the first and last paragraphs impartiular stood out to me:

How to Order Pastured Meat

Grass-Fed Basics

Factory Farming. Like most of the goods in this country, our meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products are now being mass produced. Old McDonald’s Farm has been replaced by large confinement facilities that produce a year-round supply of meat, chickens, eggs, and dairy products at a reasonable price. Although the food is cheap and convenient, factory farming is creating a host of problems, including:

• Animal stress and abuse
• Air, land, and water pollution
• The widespread use of hormones, antibiotics, and other drugs
• Low-paying, stressful farm worker jobs
• The loss of small family farms
• Food with less nutritional value

Unnatural Diets. Animals raised in factory farms are given diets designed to boost their productivity and lower costs. The main ingredient is grain, which is kept at artificially low prices by government intervention. To further cut costs, the feed may contain “by-product feedstuff” such as municipal garbage, stale cookies, poultry manure, chicken feathers, bubble gum, and restaurant waste. Until 1997, cattle were also being fed meat that had been trimmed from other cattle, in effect turning herbivores into carnivores.

Animal Stress. Few people realize that a high-grain diet can cause physical problems for ruminants—cud-chewing animals such as cattle, dairy cows, goats, bison, and sheep. Ruminants are designed to eat fibrous grasses, plants, and shrubs—not starchy, low-fiber grain. When cattle are switched from pasture to grain, for example, they can become afflicted with a number of disorders, including a common but painful condition called “subacute acidosis.” Cattle with subacute acidosis kick at their bellies, go off their feed, and eat dirt. To prevent more serious and sometimes fatal reactions, these animals are given chemical additives along with a constant, low-level dose of antibiotics. Some of these antibiotics are the same ones used in human medicine. When medications are overused in the feedlots, bacteria become resistant to them. When people become infected with disease-resistant bacteria, there are few drugs available to treat them.

Lower Nutritional Value. Switching ruminants from their natural diet of grasses to grains also lowers the nutritional value of their meat and dairy products. Compared with grass-fed meat, grain-fed meat contains more total fat, saturated fat, and calories. It also has less vitamin E, beta-carotene, and two health-promoting fats called omega-3 fatty acids and “conjugated linoleic acid,” or CLA. The milk from dairy cows raised in confinement is similarly low in these nutrients. One result of our modern “advances” in animal technology is inferior food.

Pigs, Chickens, Ducks and Geese. Chickens, turkeys, and pigs are also being raised in confinement. Typically, they suffer an even worse fate than the ruminants. Tightly packed into cages, sheds, or pens, they cannot practice their normal behaviors, such as rooting, grazing, and roosting. Worse yet, they cannot escape the stench of their own manure. Meat and eggs from these animals are also lower in a number of key vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids.

The Environment. Raising animals on pasture is better for the environment than raising them in confinement. In a conventional feedlot operation, for example, cattle deposit large amounts of manure in a small amount of space. The manure must be collected and transported away from the area. It costs money to haul it away, so it is dumped as close to the feedlot as possible. As a result, the surrounding soil is overloaded with nutrients, resulting in ground and water pollution. When animals are raised on pasture, their manure is a welcome source of organic fertilizer, not a “waste management problem.”

The Art and Science of Grassfarming. Raising animals on pasture requires more knowledge and skill than sending them to the feedlots. In order for the meat to be succulent and tender, the animals need high-quality forage, especially in the months prior to slaughter. This requires healthy soil and careful pasture management so that the animals are grazing the grass at its optimal stage of growth. Because high-quality pasture is the key to high-quality animal products, many people who raise animals on pasture refer to themselves as "grassfarmers" rather than ranchers.

Back to Pasture. In recent years, thousands of ranchers and farmers across the United States and Canada have stopped sending their animals to the feedlots. Instead, they keep the animals home on the range and feed them food that is as close as possible to their native diets. They do not implant them with hormones or feed them growth-promoting additives, because they are content to let the animals grow at their normal pace. Animals raised on pasture live such low-stress lives that they are superbly healthy.

Seems like this sort of business could really rub those corporate suits the wrong way.
