Another note, I did hear that UK special forces are on standby, is there any truth in that?

I am not turning this into anything. I am speculating what could be coming based on what has happened. These people are armed to the teeth and very well funded. A helicopter is not out of the question.

I agree, this is an act of war,but to say that you hope a whole country gets bombed is a little harsh. that's like saying you hope the whole of the USA/UK get's taken out for it's war in Iraq. When the majority vehimently oppose it.

Honestly, when you see an attack like this, they will often show the reaction of the people in the country that the attack originated from.

Like when the WTC was destroyed, I remember seeing televised parades of millions of gun toting Muslims in Afghanistan and other Terrorist training grounds, rejoicing in the streets.

Most of the countries that these attacks come from have the full support of the people. They deserve what they get..!!

if I were planning this I would definitely prepare some hotel rooms with snacks and tea. Maybe some propane burners if the power gets cut off and they need to boil water.

They are in the middle of a seige not a weekend picnic. This does seem a little too much for just a simple protest time will tell if it has deeper meaning or a wider agenda.

Well maybe I would not be cut out for this sort of mission. Cause between firefights, when things were quiet, I would definitelly want a cigarette and some nice hot tea to break the tension.

Realistically they may plan to be holed up for DAYS. If that is the case, and they are probably going to die anyway, why not give them a few comforts.

[edit on 27-11-2008 by Sonya610]

I dont think they are going to die. They are planning for a guerilla war IMHO. Someone mentioned about a helicopter. I think that is what they are going to do. How about a helicopter hijacking?

This is a war man, not a terrorist attack.

Thats definitely a concern!

I'm hoping for the inverse; and that the NSG having something planned that hasn't been leaked to the media.

India will be damned if the NSG don't resolve this successfully. India will be seen as a weak target if the NSG don't go in all guns blazing and take out the terrorists. If the NSG allow the terrorists to blow up the building and hostages, there will be hell to pay.

I will certainly be very disappointed if the NSG haven't got something in the works.

Yes but i think they are clever enough to know their helicopter will get smoked by an indian jet before it even takes off.

Gordon Brown issued some very strong language last night about this. I agree, British troops are very likely already on scene.

USA is responsible for this islamic terror problem

It takes two to tango. Islamic terrorists are equally responsible, BOTH parties benefit from the existence of the other for various reasons.

Seriously, I am sure they expect to die. Being captured and tortured would be far far worse, and there is no glory spilling your guts. This is not the movies, this is reality. They are dead men.

That's very true
when you see the reaction of the president, you see where the attack originated from.

Like when the WTC was destroyed, I remember seeing so many news articles about Bush gaining more and more power and military budget.
He surely was rejoicing in the white house.

Most of the countries where these attacks come from have full support of their people with blind patriotism.

They don't even care about their freedoms having coorporations fund the govt. which borrows so much from other nations puting us in eternal debt, they will support that govt.

So yes I agree

I thought about that last night, but the longer it drags out, the less likely that is the case. These folks are waging a war in Mumbai and they are holding the city quite well.
If this WERE a distraction, there would have to be another very large effort going on elsewhere. I just don't see it.

Well, the only other thing I can think of off the top of my head would be if another small element moved on to take out something key in the infrastructure somewhere else.
If that is the case, we have a whole new bag of worms here as you'd be dealing with some HEAVY HITTING Special Ops types.

What is the next key installation to be taken? The police, hospital, civil defence has already been taken. India is in for something big.

You could be right. However, I am not sure of the situation on the ground. Is airspace under control right now? Do you know? If it isn't, it very well could happen just that way.
Believe me, these guys have a plan to make it out alive. If they didn't, they wouldn't have made it as far as they have. You don't plan for a full-scale battle just to end it with your own life. You plan to make it out. They will have a plan to get away.

Out of curiousity, does anyone know how big the Hotel is? Could they base-jump from the roof?

It's been proven that "those" celebrations shown after the 911 attacks were just propaganda. In fact they were recorded prior 9/11. Most Muslims were mournful of what happened and even hosted candle light vigils.

As I said, I doubt this is the case. However, IF something else were to happen, it would likely be an attack on a key infrastructure point. Like a bridge being blown, or something to this effect.

don't fall into the trap of thinknig this is a weak indian army
and you are better armed than them

it would be very far fetched to think that reporters/photographers can take pics of the terrroists but military can't snipe them.

Take this info with a pinch of salt considering the media's inability to get concrete information, but CNN-IBN is reporting that the Oberoi siege is over and that most of the hostages have been liberated by the NSG.

The NSG has confirmed that the operations will go on overnight (presumably they are planning on allowing the terrorists to get more and more tired so that they are innundated by the NSG raid).

ATS is confirming that the terrorists are using AK-56 assault rifles, not AK47s (similar enough). Apparently Karkare (ATS Chief) took his standard issue .303 straight bolt rifle with him and was gunned down using superior technology. That is truly disgusting. How are the police expected to fight against terrorists who are better armed, while the police are armed with world war 2 relics.

Its time to step up armament IMO; not just for the police but also for the general population. Only when that happens with security be achieved, when the population are not liabilities (ie hostages), but front line soldiers in the war.

like i said, if it is misinterpreted it please correct me, but obviously i didn't or you would have said it.

there is no justification for a nuclear strike. not even if you are the recipient of the first strike.

you might as well cash the last check for humanity...

jesus, some people need to really look at themselves in the mirror, and get a grip.

So let me get this straight.

If my country is nuked, I should just let it go & deal with the millions of dead & dying and not retaliate?

My country has been rendered incapable of sustaining or producing further sentient forms of life & I just allow myself to go off quietly into the night & hope that Karma will someday get the person who pushed the button & killed me family, my people & my nation?

That's the right thing to do, yes? Just let it slide & die in peace?

I should allow those that Destroyed me and my people, to continue to exist, because its the righteous thing to do?
