Give me two Beretta 9's and I can defend myself quite well. That isn't the issue though...
The fact is, I ain't carrying them while vacationing in Hawaii.

ETA- Hell, for that matter, give me the element of surprise and a stick and I'll take you down, but once again, that ain't happening while I'm on vacationing. Especially in a foreign country.

OKay it's late for me & I have to get family early in the am. Here's a great place to keep up with news on the situation. I'm passing over the reins on the updates.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my ATS folks!

The point may be mistook, the reality is the same, an armed citizenry is an informed citizenry.
I like the way it works.

Interesting that they blame the mumbai ATS on their earlier youtube warning , then go on to take out the head ATS man along with 2 to 4 other top policemen ( depending on sources) , of a total of 11 policemen killed . Sounds like they might have had someone on the 'inside' to target a select few individuals . Wouldn't be easy to take out such a high ratio of top policemen in a semi chaotic situation such as this , more likely a pre assigned task to a nominated hit man , maybe working on the inside.. maybe not . Still , be interesting to know the circumstances under which these 3 to 5 top policemen got hit . Unless they were leading their men in a kind of horatio nelson type of disregard for enemy fire.

PS When I say semi chaotic , I don't mean it wasn't a slick operation . Just that it's not the sort of operation that would target specific individuals . When you are running around targeting buildings and looking for US and British people in general , you are taking out the people you come across , not specific individuals . Why I think there might have been a more covert operation running simultaneously , to target those certain individuals . So maybe semi chaotic wasn't the right words to use , I meant chaotic in terms of named target acquisition and termination rather than the actual nature of the operation . Thought I'd explain that before anyone comes along to tell me it wasn't chaotic etc )

Nah, an armed citizenry is a citizenry that doesn't put up with bullsnap. Informed isn't a question. Nobody reads anymore. That won't change with allowing them to carry weapons. It only gives them an outlet for their stupidity....

But at least it keeps people honest.

I would agree with you that this isn't chaotic at all. Like I said, surgical precision.
I couldn't plan it better myself.
If I WERE planning it, there would be a lot of traps.

Wow... the world *I* live in is terrible enough - the one *YOU* live in must really be a living nightmare, when you actually believe the things you say.

Or is it just the hip thing to espouse these days, stemming from being unable to conceive of a world actually inhabited by people who are capable of perpetrating evil such as this simply because they are just hateful and inhumane?

I should be happy that I don't have to hide under the bed to get a decent nights sleep..

You have not offended me. You just didn't read carefully. Please do not think you have to be careful of your comments because I am older. I only ask that you are sure you understand the comment before you reply.

This is an intense situation and I am rethinking as I write. However, my questions, simple as they may be, poses more questions than answers for me. I have no doubt there are more to come.

cuz in some people's worlds, ordinary terror won't do. They crave a conspiracy like I crave turkey. This is a tragic event but some people think that angry groups of people are incapable of doing something big. Must be a false flag terrorist economic thing (no) Riggggggghhhhhhtttttt.......

Pray for these victims or keep them in your thoughts.

While I agree with your initial asessment, I beg to differ on your total take on reality.
People are animal.
I ask for no more than a glimpse of raw humanity.
And no B.S.
Given that, I'm in.

Without a doubt this is military. And not just any military. This is an elite force. This is a MOUT attack par excellence. The planning that MUST HAVE gone into this attack is unphathomable. Comandos are being sent in to combat other comandos.

No planning is needed for this type of thing. Elitism is taught since birth. With the muscle to back the claim. Have you ever seen the state of India's police missing and murder pages? *caution* they are graphic.

All that is needed is just the right random alignment of a pool of convienient targets-the senators and the anti terrorist police as well as white civilians-- out of the larger pool of known targets-government, the police, the military, the western world. I would be looking through the far east's history pages for a particular occurance, or grievance, or maytrship on this particular date-as that is almost a given as a type of 'honor' for an operation. Some might guess it is because of the western world's thanksgiving. I would say they would have chosen it for a different reason.

Pick and miss, pick and hit. Regardless of who they are specifically, It is a subculture. Everybody within the subculture already knows who they don't like in politics, in the civil arena, in the business sector, and in law enforcement. They talk about it over dinner and tea-day in and day out. They grow up knowing who everybody is and everybodies business--this is India!

Long term they have a goal-whoever they are, and they will say it is something else to get to where they are going. If a potential grouping of targets are lined up on a good night, like tonight, just a few words on the cell phone of minimal instructions-and a chain reaction of those orders ensues. It is really enough.

Granted this is big. But no bigger than anything else. It would only take someone 5 minutes to ramble off 7 targets in town for maximum damage. But they don't need to sit and draft for hours, not really. They already know everything. Everybody already knows where they are and what to do in the big scheme of things in an abstract way-as a social underpinning.

When they are told it is their time to perform a service or do a duty-it is their pact with their friends, their mentors, and their God. Not all people. Just the people who have drawn together on the extremist end.

Likely they got a call saying 'you-such and such is at the Taj-go, show no mercy' 'you-captain such and such is at the * go, show no mercy, ect ect with the over comment of ultimate force over the tourists and congress*.

Herein is my opinion. The difference may be that our military takes track of it's boys on assignment-and over there their military might but their lawless extremists just do not. If they survive that is fine, but no one will come looking-unless their maybe in the top 3 or specially, specially percieved, (in which case they are likely in the top 3 or 5), and if they don't show up afterwards-someone WILL take care of thier families.
As I understand it.

I hate war.

it looks like the Indian spokesman is not as quick as the msm to draw conclusions as to who carried out the attacks:

Are You an American first off?
If you are , do the words "from the shores of Tripoli" mean a thing to you?
If you're trying to googe what Tripoli means to American servicemen, it ain't there.

The traps are what I am worrying about also. Never mind that there still seem to be so many groups still at large. I worry that the first responders are going to be slaughtered. This 'group' obviously has so much precision.

It seems to me that if you think the entire world is this way, you are projecting...
In fact, I would guess that 90% of the world doesn't give a damn about our governments' quibbles and would much rather live in peace. It is the 10% (probably even less than that) who control ALL of the resources who have a horse in this evil race we are discussing.

I'll bet you hide your face with your blankets at night.

I agree with you completely. If it were me, I would make damned sure that anyone coming after me would meet their demise. Hey, they have grenades. Claymore mines placed atop stair-wells is a very nasty way to make sure people don't storm up the stairs after you...
Just saying.
