The dash cam explains the different flashes. It passed through a cloud.

OK, maybe we should look at this more objectively instead of rushing to conclusions that this was another ‘Roswell’ in the making!

This object most likely was part of the annual Leonid showers that strike Earth. Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle is the parent of the Leonid meteoroid stream. Every November, Earth crosses the orbital path of Comet Tempel-Tuttle. Bits and pieces left behind by this comet collide with Earth’s upper atmosphere at some 70 kilometers – 45 miles – per second to streak the night with meteors.

Leonid Showers

Size. Most visible Leonids are between 1 mm and 1 cm in diameter. For example, a Leonid meteor of magnitude +5, which is barely visible with the naked eye in a dark sky, is caused by a meteoroid of 0.5 mm in diameter and weights only 0.00006 gram.

Speed. That tiny particle can cause a light so bright that it can be seen over distances of hundreds of kilometers. The reason is the astronomical speed of the meteoroids. Just before they enter the Earth's atmosphere, Leonid meteoroids travel at 71 kilometers per second, or some 2,663 times as fast as a fast pitch in baseball, or, if you want, around the Earth in 3.8 minutes!

Colors of meteors. The color of many Leonids is caused by light emitted from metal atoms from the meteoroid (blue, green, and yellow) and light emitted by atoms and molecules of the air (red). The metal atoms emit light much like in our sodium discharge lamps: sodium (Na) atoms give an orange-yellow light, iron (Fe) atoms a yellow light, magnesium (Mg) a blue-green light, ionized calcium (Ca+) atoms may add a violet hue, while molecules of atmospheric nitrogen (N2) and oxygen atoms (O) give a red light. The meteor color depends on whether the metal atom emissions or the air plasma emissions dominate.

Considering the above, and the images that internos posted earlier, it is most likely a small meteor that was part of the Leonid shower, scheduled to hit Earth at about the same time. (Much as I would have liked it to be a second Roswell!!)

Cheers!

They just covered the story on the news here. There was some great footage of it from a guys camera, and a police car's camera. Very cool. Not a green orb at all.

Clearest video I've seen so far. Short, and zoomed in kind of close though.
Thanks for the link.

Notice how there is two streaks following the object.

That would have been my first guess, too. But if you read some of the replies posted a couple pages or so back, some people were claiming that it couldn't be part of the Leonids, but was instead a separate meteor incident. I don't remember the specifics, but either way it still looks like "unusually large meteor" is the most likely explanation for this. Still pretty amazing if you ask me!

P.S. I still think it's a heck of a coincidence that this lines up so well with the ongoing flood of hacked YouTube "meteorite" videos. But I think I'll just sleep on it.

Dude, isn't this number two?

If i'm not mistaken, there was another
meteor that came down in the summer, right?

I'd like to know if there were any
kind of similarities regarding the two.

Sorry, I haven't read all of the replies yet.

nobody has Confirmed it landed, people in sask say it landed there and people here in Edmonton say it landed here! the sky is huge and if that thing hit us we would know, there would be confirmed reports by now most likely. It looked pretty big and all the reports coming in from across the country i would imagine it has a good size to it.
