Treated like a dog,used as a punchbag:The life and death of a baby boy called 'Smiley'

I live in the UK and was watching this on the news and the single most dreadful thing was seeing this little babies bloodstained clothes. I was absolutely sickened and disgusted but also upset to the point of tears.

How someone could dream of doing this to anyone, but particularly their own flesh and blood is beyond me. It saddens me greatly to possess the knowledge that a mother could do this to her child.

I am a firm believer that 2 wrongs do not make a right. That said, in cases like this and any crimes against children for that matter (ie Paedophilia) should all be punishable by death. That death should be calculated to reflect the amount of pain casued to the chid as well.

It's a sad sad day. Rest in Peace Baby P.

Obviously no on cared enough to make sure that action was taken.I wonder how many more children have to suffer and die until decisive action is taken against those who commit these crimes and the highly trained people who's incompetence allows it to continue.

If they were in the states they both would be put up for 1st degree murder and chances are they both would have gotten death sentences, along with Dr.'s losing licenses.

Baby and toddler killed at house

A three-month-old baby and his two-year-old brother have been found dead at a property in Manchester.
Delayno and Romario Mullings-Sewell were found in Cheetham Hill on Wednesday after concerns were raised with police. Both had been stabbed.
Their 21-year-old mother was held on suspicion of murder and has now been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
It has emerged that officers visited the house just hours before the children were found.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) revealed officers went to the house on Kilmington Drive shortly before 1500 GMT on Wednesday after receiving information from a person concerned for the welfare of a family.

No-one was at the address so officers searched the nearby area and made significant further efforts to trace the residents but were unable to do so, a spokesman said.
The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
Speaking on Thursday, Det Supt Shaun Donnellan said police returned to the property later at about 1745 GMT and forced their way in.
He said both boys had been stabbed once in the abdomen. Their mother was arrested a short time later around the corner from the house.
"I'd ask you all to remember that this is a tragedy. There are two children dead who would appear to be victims of a fatal attack," he said.
"There is a mother in custody who has been detained under the mental health act."

The boys' family paid tribute to the "beautiful, innocent" boys in a statement released through Greater Manchester Police.
They said: "We, as a family, are struggling to come to terms with the tragic events of yesterday afternoon and we cannot even begin to understand what happened.
"We hope that wherever the boys have gone to, they are at peace."
Melissa Bell, who knew the family, laid flowers at their home on Thursday.
"I heard the news and have just come to pay my respects," she said.
"They were just gorgeous, beautiful. The three-month-old kid, he was just starting to get a personality... he was just gorgeous.
"They weren't rowdy or nasty children. He [the older brother] was just really well behaved."
IPCC decision
Forensic officers are at the house carrying out tests. Post-mortem examinations are being carried out later.
The IPCC is assessing the police response to the phone calls they received before the boys were killed.
An IPCC spokesman said: "They [police] went round to the property at about 2.50pm yesterday. They searched the area because a neighbour said she saw the woman walking away with her children.
"The next call they got was that the children were dead."

All I ask is one day some how I end up living next to couple that does that sorta crap to a child... so I can go bust down the door and kick the crap outta them and see how they like it...

im sorry but I mean REALLY?? action packed with issues to the point ya take it out on a defensless baby? this is beyond sickening... the gov needs to take the lawyers right out of it and make an example of this sorry excuse for a dirty bag.. let it be known this WILL not be tolerated.. no cushy jail cell for you.

i'd say give 1 hour alone with the family of the victim but what could ya do in this case??? just horrible..

after reading the story i just wanted to throw up. i think anyone having to do with this should be brought up on charges. and the doctor have their license stripped at the very least. noone did their jobs in this case and cant imagine the pain that this infant/toddler went through. i hope they rot in prison.

Regarding the racism thing, I can take you to neighborhoods in my city full of subhuman trash like these people, and depending on where you are the people are white, black, hispanic, or mixed. I am not one of those politically correct people who refuses to see differences or cries racism every time the subject is brought up, but in this case I think the problem is universal.

The issue is severely degenerate people of any color or ethnicity breeding more like them and perpetuating uncivilized behavior across generations.

there are places eveywere and the neighborhoods and areas contain some of the worse people but i dont know any who would do anything of this sort to a child or to an elderly person.

My opinion is that expensive, illicit drugs and the drug gangs they spawn are a big part of it. Clearly, a national policy focused on decriminalization and treatment would go a long way toward erasing the thug culture we are experiencing, and it is the dehumanizing influence of the thug culture which helps to create so many sociopaths among the weak minded.

Near where I live in the past few years:

Hispanic gang member shoots indiscriminately into house of rival drug gang, killing small child.

Black teen shoots pregnant woman in belly during robbery, killing her unborn child.

White drifter breaks into house to steal and beats old man to death.

All of these murders were not only especially heinous, they innocent victims were not in any way a threat or obstacle to the crimes being committed. They were killed for no particular reason, in other words. In each case drug dealing or stealing to buy drugs was the motive, and the murderers were desensitized by the drugs and the gang activity to the point of becoming complete sociopaths.

I have seen this thread popping up, and I for one think it's great that an event like this, is provoking enough people to respond here and to express their disgust.

I think it's sad that aliens are more interesting to humans, than simple little babies. I personally think a single baby, is far more amazing and miraculous, than a whole sky full of flying saucers.

An event like this child's death, is MEANT to galvanize us so as to check with our neighbors and to break down the walls, and to ALWAYS investigate when a child looks like they are being beaten or abused.

But even then, if we suspect abuse, we are held in place by this court/lawyer prison called soicety, and where "child servcies" swoops in and their system is deeply corrupt also.

One thing I do know is this: For the innocent, their pain ends at the time of death, and even before their death, their little soul is often helped out of the body for the most gruesome trauma. What I mean is that if you believe is astral projection, then you know how people who are being abused will talk about how they felt like they were viewing the scene from high up near the cieling, as if they were out of their body.

What I mean is this: If you believe in God and spirit, then please know that this child's soul was delivered instantly into the arms of healing. Life sucks down here, and Earth is actually a giant blood-bucket but we are prevented from seeing the blood (excpet on the headlines of our controlled media) ..But in the final analysis, all hurts are healed in heaven.

This little baby is not in pain, but it is WE HUMANS who are left to type here or there and to come to terms with what it means to be part of a family (the human race) which allows its members to be as insane and mentally ill as these parents. In truth, our Human Tribe, is being run by Chiefs who are purposely making us sick, and then pointing at crimes like this as if to implicate ALL of the Tribe. But it is not so, and we are not part of this horror, though we are humans.

Someday we will have better Chiefs, and they will not traumatize us, they will be compassionate, and no child will be isolated with insane parents because in the end, the human race cares about each little member.

Never forget your core emotions of compassion, empathy and fellow feeling, even when it sems like you are the only one who has them. They will sustain you in the worst of situations, and carry you higher than any other thing within you.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with this sadistic and obviously evil piece of trash.....that's all it would take!!!!! Just 5 minutes to eradicate him from the earth. We can take some solace in knowing he will in all likely hood be killed in prison as even criminals when it comes to children do not tolerate that stuff. These guys usually end up being killed in prison. I will be hoping and wishing for his and the mothers execution.

The sentence should be that however you caused (intentional) death, you shall die in the same manner. No questions asked, and NO DEATHROW!

I agree with that.
They do something like that in India with extreme cases,like that fella (sorry,can't remember his name) who killed over a 100 children.What he did to them was done unto him.

Not to be too cold blooded I really agree its a shame but do stories like this really belong on ATS? This is more like 6 o clock news material sad and useless.

ATS has grown and expanded over the years,its not just an conspiracy site.

And here in the UK the 6 and 7 o'clock news is the main news for most people in the country,its the first they see after coming home from work.So i guess what you're saying is that it is important news and it should not be ignored.

I know some people are cynical about government involvement in this,as there are those unscroupulous politicians who would use this to their advantage.

But they are also human and many too will fell outrage at this.I don't really like Cameron,but i agreed with him during his rant in Parliament.Quite frankly,i don't believe he's that good an actor,his anger was plain to see.

Recent updates.

Haringey Council has said it is "truly sorry" for not doing more to protect 17-month-old Baby P who died after suffering horrific abuse.

In the first apology from the council, Liz Santry, cabinet member for children, said there had been "anguish" about what more might have been done.

It came as the north London council promised its own review - the fourth separate inquiry into Baby P's death.

The government says staff will be held "accountable" if failings are found.

Sickening.

I'm against the death penalty for moral and logic reasons.

(You can't kill someone because you think killing people is wrong)

HOWEVER..in cases such as these, and if it transpires that the two evil bastards that did this to that poor tiny baby, are not insane, then my thoughts would be of thinking up new and depraved ways to make the remaining days of their lives as terror filled and as painful as possible without killing them.

Basic survival rations, to the point of constant collapse through lack of sustenance.

Regular beatings etc.

Brutal? Yeah...it is. But, treat people, especially defensless, innocent children and babies in this way, they should expect nothing less in return.

Going off on a bit of a tangent, although it still ties in with protecting children and their welfare...

There is this law over here which means when a child injures themselves at school, the teachers or adults acting as their guardian in that environment cannot comfort the child or clean their wound. They are not even allowed to stuck a plaster on a grazed knee for god's sake.

I know that rule was only implemented to protect the teacher incase the parents sue them or something, but for crying out loud! wouldn't you want your child to get care if they hurt themselves at school and it takes the parent some time to get there to pick the child up? I would! my 8 yr old cousin had an accident at school once, cut and hit her head quite badly. The only thing the teachers did to help was to hand her a wet paper towel and tell her to press it against the cut, and wait for her mother to get there. Turned out she suffered mild concussion!

Honestly though, seems like the laws concerning child welfare and protection are topsy-turvy! I hope atleast some good can come out of this horrific incident, highlighting the serious flaws in the system. I pray the laws get changed and more children can be taken out of violent situations like this quicker.

I ponder if this were a situation where by the child had been in the primary care of the biological father .... would someone have been prosecuted?
