Gay rights protesters disrupt Sunday service

www.lansingstatejournal.com

Protesters who entered the Creyts Road church along with worshippers surprised the congregation when they stood up during the service, threw fliers at churchgoers and shouted slogans such as "It's OK to be gay," and "Jesus was a homo," according to David Williams, communications director at the church. His father, Dave Williams, is the church's longtime pastor. He was not preaching at the church Sunday.

Well, well, well. It looks those gay rights protesters keep disrespecting the rights of others.

As I've said in another thread, it's quite ironic that they keep disrespecting others in order to gain respect for themselves.

I'm all for protesting and freedom of speech, but there is no reason to bust in on a church service and start disrespecting others just to make your point.

I don't think this is helping their cause.

At least they didn't push any old women down this time.

Perhaps they should try that stunt in a mosque?
The Christians will be thought of in a better light when the Muslim's are the majority in the U.S.

And how does this pertain to this article?

Please explain a little if you would...

Gay people should be respected 100% No everyone should but those people who barged into the church they dont deserve respect atall if they want respect they should earn it not demand it

Exactly!

We also had the story about the gay protesters pushing an old woman down and stomping on her cross too.

Seems like they have a vendetta against those who don't agree with them, especially Christians.

Not exactly the best way to get your point across is it?

I bet it was hilarious.

Jesus was a homo? LMAO.

I bet that went over well.

Gay rights, civil rights, women's rights, childrens' rights...

Whatever happend to the "greatest of these is Love" or the oft ignored "love your neighbour as your self"?

I hope we evolve out of this crap soon.

Sure I'll explain, I'm sorry I figured it was obvious but I guess not.
The Christians didn't beat the hell out of them, didn't behead them, not that the muslims would have done either but I bet that the protesting gays would be much more reluctant to do a protest like they did in a mosque because of the fear of reprisal from the muslim's there.
Most of the homosexual protestors really seem to despise Christians in general, but in reality Christians are just talk, I'm not so sure the Muslims would put up with it, they don't in the Mid-east.
If my comments seem so unrelated to your article that you do not understand then feel free to ignore them.

I didn't notice her falling down.

Seems like they have a vendetta against those who don't agree with them, especially Christians.

Oh I couldn't imagine why Christians would possibly be looked at in a negative way. Come on now.

----

So let me get this right, the lady with the cross had her speech rights violated by showing up to carry around her cross in front of a bunch of gay rights protesters. But if a homo returns fire and does basically the inverse it is suddenly wrong and so outlandish.

So, it's ok to protest, as long as you don't get in anybody's face? I'm thining about that long line of Republicans that were hasssling folks trying to go the advance polls on a Sunday. That, apparently was Freedom of Speech. Don't know about any woman being pushed down...assault is assault, and I didn't read anywhere that being Gay and being a jerk are mutally exclusive.

Either way, you can't cherry pick your Freedom of Expression. Tough, eh?

Here is the link to the thread about the assault of the old woman.

And this has nothing to do with "cherry picking" anything. People have the right to protest, like those in the above video.

Attacking someone and stomping on their cross is a little out of line though, as is barging into a church.

What a bunch of idiots.

I'm pretty involved in gay rights for my own area, but none of the people I work with would approve of this sort of move. We hold fundraisers and discussions and sponsor lectures at the college. We don't barge into churches and expect people to drop everything and worship us. These people were fools and I'm oh so glad that they've furthered the cause.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Thank you, I've seen it and participated in that thread. Care to show me the woman being knocked down? I didn't see that yet you keep saying it happened. I'd hope you aren't relying on members to jump to conclusions based upon what you say without viewing the video? Because that woman wasn't knocked down.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

My apologies. I said it once and I simply "misremembered' the video itself.

Oh well.

I'm guessing the rest of the assault is OK then right?

Oh wow...you get people who go to the extreme in all sectors of society with their ideologies, nothing new.

This type of behavior is rather pathetic and childish. I suppose every group has a radical side. Lets call these radicals "Pink Panthers" for lack of a better name. Unfortunately, the behavior of this small group will tarnish the image of the majority. Barging into a place of worship during service is intolerable. There are other more civil ways to make a point. The in your face mentality and behavior will only deter progress for their cause.

I saw this type of behavior when I was in college. The college gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transvestite, bi curious group would repeatedly deface the sidewalks and plazas with chalk drawings and writings to promote their cause. I still can't figure out what that cause may have been. Perhaps they were trying to recruit new members.

Enough said. Pathetic and typical behavior from a radical sect the tarnishes the image of the majority. Every group suffers from this type of BS.

This is one of the problems we have here in America and around the world. Some Gay rights protesters do the cross stomping and church thing and it's counted as the whole group doing it. Some radical Muslims go out and bomb some people and all Muslims are blamed. Some Christians do a wrong and all Christians are blamed. I'm so tired of the blame game.
They did what they did and that should be it. To count it as gay rights as a whole or even the old lady as all Christians is absurd.

and christians haven't got a vendetta against gays? Gay's haven't been victimised, beaten and MURDERED by fundaMENTAList Christians hiding their hate filled biggoted minds behind their god?

No?ok then,we'll just let the world forget about us,we're not real people after all

Stop denying Gays the right to marry and gays will stop bombing these churches. Oh, what's that? they didn't bomb the church. They just protested at a church? Oh, well then... that's even worse! wow, that makes me so angry. look how much I care.

Listen, I'm not trying to characterize this as "all gays" or "all Christians" by any means.

The fact is though, that this particular case involved "gay" protesters and a "christian" church. Again, this doesn't mean that all gays are like this, or all Christians are like that.

Try not to overreact and just take this story for what it is, and keep in mind this is the second such story we've seen in the last couple of days.
