Guerldo on Fox news just asked What does this mean? Guess we will get his answer after the commercial break.

Gimme FOX!!!!!!!!

Actually, it's owned by Rupert Murdoch who also owns (amongst other things) The Sun in UK. Now, I cannot begin to express the artistic talent on page 3, but I have one complaint. When I was going up to Edinburgh a couple of years ago, there was a copy of the sun, which effectively said, shove the jocks. Then I got to Edinburgh and in a pub picked up a copy of the 'Scottish' sun, 'The auld enemy' came to the fore. The Australians are trying to rip our country apart, do not let them rip yours.

Of course officially the US/Iraq will not confirm anything, as is customary. Unofficially everyone gets the message, and it's about time. We won't attack deep into Syria but all the border regions are now within our sights.
[Elf so as long as you don’t march to Damascus with the 23rd its ok then?]

A U.S. military official said the raid by special forces targeted the network of al-Qaeda-linked foreign fighters moving through Syria into Iraq. The Americans have been unable to shut the network down in the area because Syria was out of the military's reach.

As well as my comments above,

Mr Westpoint can you please describe to me what your idea of Al Qaeda is?

Who and where are they?

When was the name first used?

What does it mean?

Can you show me any captured "terrorists" who have admitted to?

I think we will ignore any confessions from Abu Grave, CIA Rendition flights to Syria ??? strange that no?? considering the thread, so you give human beings to terrorists to torture them, then attack the very same people themselves! As torture is now taking place BY US forces, you’ve seen the photo's no? so we have much evidence and proof of human terror atrocities by the US military,

Can you show me one document, one confession, one statement of aims of purpose, not from a US MSM or military/gov source that proves, as the photos at Abu grave did what , where and Who These Al Qaeda terrorists are?

I know this will be impossible for you to, maybe you will get a Pulitzer if you do, so make the effort to prove firstly an International organisation called al Qaeda outside the fantasies of the CIA and similar untrustworthy sources (using the premise of CIA information(LIES) about Iraq and WMD 45 min Rockets! and the like.

I know that as you really really read, and research on this, firstly you might be very surprised to discover Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 in any way, shape or form (which 30% of Americans still believe there is a link)

and that infact Al Qaeda does not exist in any way shape or form.

Jihadist's oh yes, suicide bombers and terrorists oh yes Al Qaeda?

Where?
Who?
When?
How?

reliable sources please!

I will help you out to start shall I in denying ignorance?

In Jason Burkes Book "Al Qaeda" isbn 978/0/141/03136/1 penguin Books

He spent 10 years looking for the very answers I ask of you, who is Prize Winning journalist with more on the ground experience than any other western journalist in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq etc, who was in the Tora Bora region with the Jihadist’s, writing this book as the B52's pummelled the Afghan Hillsides states:

Like many others I was scared. what was the nature of the threat that now confronted my way of life, my culture, my values, my own personal security and that of those I love? Should I genuinely be frightened of bombs on the London underground, hijackings at Paris Orly, gas attacks in Los Angeles or dirty bombs in Chicago?

As the months passed, I found that none of these questions were being answered by the myriad articles and books published on "the war on terror" and its supposed targets. I became increasingly concerned about the misconceptions that were gaining currency, and a belief system in the USA. Foremost among them was the idea that Bin Laden led a cohesive and structured terrorist organization called "al-Qaeda".

EVERY piece of evidence I came across in my own work, and peer reviewed articles, contradicted this notion of al-Qaeda as an "Evil empire" as quoted by Rumsfield, with an evil mastermind at its head.

Such an idea was undoubtedly comforting, destroy the henchman and his men and the problem goes away, but it was both misguided and false that such an organisation ever existed!

The nearest thing to "al Qaeda" that ever existed I observed being destroyed in totality in Tora Bora complex in 2003, one cave some 20 militants who had a particular spin on radical Islam, They never recognised or accepted Bin laden as their leader just a fellow Jihadist, from a separate sect of Islam"

Interesting that eh my friend?

Page 25 of the above book. I suggest you read it in depth many times before you are soo sure of what you think your Duty and courage and honour is fighting for.

I can source many things to help you deny the ignorance that you have been hypnotised by if you like u2u me if you are too embarrassed to question your beliefs in public.

All peer reviewed, independent, scholarly work my friend.

So knowing this how do you feel about the reasons they have given you for this attack on a sovereign nation/state?

also more insurgents DO NOT COME through Syria, that is CNN tripe, if you expand your knowledge and read on the subject and area im sure you will be very surprised which country they are actually coming through to get to Iraq.

A little exercise in denying ignorance for you, find out where the most jihadists really come from and we can swap sources?

Don’t be soo willing to spill your blood for madman’s dreams, greed, and lies.

there is no courage or honour in that just a waste of your wonderful self eh?

Kind regards,

Elf.

My thought, Bush is hitting the targets that he wasn't able or willing to hit before, his time is near what does he care. They ( surrounding countries )have aided the insurgents as long as we have been in the region. The insurgents have used this to their advantaged for as long without recourse.
I think that if you are going to fight a war then don't hold back, if this guy is going to open his house to your enemy then burn down his house. Start a new war ? I doubt that and I guarantee that Syria will make some noise about it BUT they will be working overtime to shut down any visible traffic.
If Bush would have taken care of business in the first place the world would be in a lot better shape now.

The story i got was this was a C&C site for Al Qaeda and this had been the third site this group had used.
The first two sites had been reported to the Syrian government and BY the time the Syrian had sent troops to arrest the Al Qaeda insurgents they had been tipped of by there friends in the Syrian gov and packed up the site and moved.
They had been using a high powered radio that the US had tracked to give orders to insurgents in iraq.

After twice that Al Qaeda had been tipped off. by the Syrians the US took care of the problem themselves.

This was a attack done by special ops troops on the ground that had been flown in and dropped outside the village to take out just the Al Qaeda targets and anyone that fired at them.

The Syrians that live in the village knew that Al Qaeda was operating from there village and had the option of leaving when Al Qaeda made there village a target or asking Al Qaeda to leave.

The villagers KNEW this could happen.
The syrian government KNEW this would happen they had been warned that if the protected Al Qaeda this would happen.

IN FACT the US government had warned all countries that any country that harbored Al Qaeda would be subject to attacks on Al Qaeda in there country.

The US government HAS MADE IT CLEAR that harboring and allowing Al Qaeda to operate from there country is a hostile act against the US.

Syria has long been a sponsor of terrorist groups and has let many operate from and/or armed many of them.

Wow folks really like to blow things out of proportion and speculate like crazy around here when nothing ever happens. Nothing is going to come of this...i promise. You think you cant find a headline in the news about this right now? Wait til tomorrow...you'll find nothing and this will be another non-event.

Going back to The Sun, and for that matter most British newspapers, I have worked out one thing: Although Tony Blair wanted a Blood Price for the 'special relationship,' the real bond was deeper. Our military showed yours how not to torture. You have to remember you used to kill innocents to keep up your vietnamese 'body count.' You were terrible in Iraq, us less so. Frank, rude and sorry.

which country they are actually coming through to get to Iraq.

Um, let me take a stab at that. Would it be the same country 15 of the 19 supposed 9/11 hijackers came from? The same country whose ruling family the Bush family has been in bed with all along? The same country that stood to gain the most in the region from a heavy US presence in Iraq? Am I getting warm?

Good. Syria is playing a game it cant win. Israel on one side the USA on the other. They are reaping the fruits of turning their back on terrorists coming into their country, I say hit them and hit them hard. War with Islam......I dont know, but I have a feeling that is not what they want. Imagine all medical and food supplies being suspect and I just dont see it.

I am in awe of how you just espouse the official story like it is the truth. All I can do is refer you to MischeviousElf's post above. It is a very informative post on the illusion that they call Al Qaeda. Any where the U.S. wants to go they simply say Al Qaeda is there, that is the evil genius of the War on Terror.

Smurfwicked

It's phrases like this which show your "mind set" "If that is true there could be some guilt by association."

Think about what you have written there for a moment, do you live in a environment of condemnation thru association?

"We are taking matters into our own hands," the official told The Associated Press in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the political sensitivity of cross-border raids.)))))))))

It always irks me when I see blame being handed out for Syria not securing it's borders, allowing alleged "insurgents and Al Qaida" terrorists access into Iraq.
The US of course has a tightly controlled border. Every square inch of it is monitored and no illegal immigrants, drugs, arms etc make their way across on a daily basis.

Using some of the reasoning seen on this discussion, many countries would then have the legal and moral authority to cross the US border and launch military attacks against criminal elements, responsible for crimes within their countries. See how ridiculous that sounds when it's turned around?
Any civilians caught in the crossfire would be written off as victims or the ongoing war against the criminals and anyway, it would be their own fault for allowing the criminals to live amongst them. All sounds perfectly reasonable....doesn't it?

Something like this has been a long time coming as border security has been an Achilles(SP?) Heal to improving the security situation in Iraq . From the information available I would say that a insurgent group that was using Syria as its base of operations was targeted at the regional level . It is possible that leaders and a regional headquarters were also a prime target . This kind of action has been long over due purely from a military and security stand point .

I am not going to condone or oppose such a operation without knowing the results . Still more measures need to be taken to detect and destroy tunnels and other smuggling methods . Only such measures combined with effective border patrols and possible cross border strikes can Iraq border be secured.

Not only to target this objective but to also put Syria on notice that if they do enforce their borders, we'll do it for them.

I wonder, Westy - do you have any idea how arrogant this sounds?

I take it you'd have no problems with, say, Mexican or Canadian Armed forces violating the US borders in order to pursue their suspects, acting without consultation, blowing apart some buildings in the USA and killing a few people?

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Ok ... I would like to see some veitnemese avenger squads , throw themselves over the border to kill a bunch of CIA coke and heroin pedlars. And while we are at it , lets allow any Iraqi who lost a child or innocent relative in the war in Iraq , come over , and put a cap in a military intelligence operative (whos falsified data made the case for going to war).
And while thats happening , lets have all the people , who ever pissed anyone off , anywhere, getting capped by folks they have annoyed, globaly . Then when we are drowning in the blood of 90% of the populus of earth , maybe we can stop making excuses to murder eachother (because we will be too busy looking for a lifejacket).

Mmm a tad confused by this Redled

Im British!

Maybe read my first post on this thread:

Here

You will see infact I agree totally and have articulated it in much more viteral and strong terms, bordering on being Mod Slapped for the first time since joining.

This is all over the MSM today, what many people dont realise too is that the current Syrian Leader is no fool, or "Mad Mullah" he spent most of his life in London UK, was a practising Dentist, went to university in the UK and was very good at it until he returned to Syria after his father's demise.

A dentist not a crazy cave dwelling jihadist, who has had the leadership thrust upon him by his birth, and as all patriotic people like Westy, just wants to defend and grow his people's country, even if it not a very good horse he has been given to try and break in.
