That was painful...

Even if it represents only a small % of the people - it isn't small enough.
Some of the comments just made my head bleed.

Al Jazeera is a global television network it is one of the largest networks there is CNN, BBC are primarily white, western or neo colonial in their audience.

Al Jazeera is not pro muslim, or anti western it is however exceptionally confronting to both cultures as it shows the real face of the modern world including the results of war, terrorism, and yes the extremism of America -

Wow - I find it hard to come to terms with so many of you being so shocked at this video - it is exactly America. If you don't like it do what the rest of the world does and go out and fight racism, bigotry, hatred instead of just sitting there and condoning it under the guise of free speech.

The rest of the world has free speech to - and that gives you the right to get up of your backsides and go out and challenge these peoples ideas.

Trust me - the rest of the world is VERY much aware of how completely racist and ignorant your country is - check out your leadership group.

I live in a rural area full of these idiots. It will be worse after the things McCain said in last night's debate. He never did back down off the accusation that Obama is a terrorist in a way that people of this low IQ level would catch, even IF the watched the debate. I hope the Secret Service are ready for it, cause ignorance, fear and hatred abounds.

I can hardly believe that this is happening. Insane.

edit - BTW I am an independant, so don't shoot me, neighbors.

I feel for you, it is awful, but I think we have a responsibiltiy of educating these people. YOu have to see them as kids deprived of any education.

Is it a wonder that the US government lack respect of their own citizens. They don't know the difference between capitalism/humanism/communisme/liberalism or any ism... they don't know what the heck is going on in this world, they don't know that Russia is a rigthwing democratic but statecontrolled country these days. They think is is still a socialist country. They only hear soundbites from FOX, I guess. They are a dying species, of mostly old and bankrupt people without options, so a scary bunch in total. Just keep an eye on them.

Below I have posted an email from my sister who lives in San Antonio,Texas. She wrote this in response to my email where I asked her to stop sending anti-Obama hate emails (chainletters). They were pretty much outright lies... In response she writes the following...

I send it because I believe it conviction and fight. I am not happy with EITHER candidate. But I am scared to death to have Obama in the White House. He's gonna bring change alright, and we are gonna lose our rights in the process. I was gung ho for him in the beginning, actually up until about a month or so ago. I believe he is a undercover sleeper cell muslim that is gonna turn our nation into a socialist nation.

My 'favourite' part is the line I've emboldened. I'm not even sure what is being said here. You can read 'sleeper cell' in two senses, the emotive and implied sense of terrorist sleeper cell or a more general sense of any dormant group of Muslims. However, since when has socialism been a goal of Muslims? There's some real desperate thinking in that email.

Sad.

I grew up in a small rural community in Ohio with a population of just barely over 2000 people and that first video looks like it could have come from there! Of course, they didn't use the n-word enough, but close enough! I am extremely thankful my parents weren't of this variety, as they moved from a big city (Columbus) to that area because they thought the country would be a better place to raise a family. You know, the big yard with lots of sticks and mud to play with haha. Unfortunately, most the kids from that area grew up with parents who grew up there who had those back-woods, white supremacy, bible-beating attitudes. Can't speak true English, believes all people of color are second class citizens, don't give a damn about anything but getting drunk and going to Church. I've had conversations in the recent past with people I went to high school with and a good majority simply said "I can't vote for a black guy." I guess the only good thing is those areas aren't heavily populated...

To hear the old chap with the baseball cap call Obama a 'second stringer' because he was a negro (at least that's what I thought he said) was just sad. I've heard blacks called much worse than a second stringer but the way he said it just seemed so anachronistic, like the idea of a dumb negro or something. That Obama probably has more more academic qualifications behind him than half that audience is probably lost on some of them.

A little while ago I started a thread suggesting, somewhat tongue in cheek that people might associate Obama/Biden with Osama Bin Laden.

Well it is hard to believe but it appears there are folks out there like this.

This is unbelievable, I am finding it hard to believe there are actually people like this. It's a joke right??? These clips are staged humour? Yes?
If the answer is no, then god help your country!

I think Bush caused the current crisis. He knew about the problems in America and he dropped it on us just before he's leaving. He's going to live a rich live in Texas while the rest of us have to suffer!
The Republicains don't want to win this election, because they don't know what to do with the problems at hand! They're just trying to undermine Obama so he won't win again next time in 2012!
A dutch theory!

I would remind all of us to not let this kind of thing drive a wedge between us.

Let not but sweet water flow from your lips.
Be the example that you wish to set.
Find the kindness or become blinded.
Teach your brother a story.
Learn a song from your sister.
Find your intentions and reinvent them.

The silent majority has been getting stomped on for 40 years now. It's finally coming to a head and you "we're so much better then you" leftists will be shocked when they finally stand up and lay the smack down...

We've been listening to a huge majority of teachers from preK-12 and obviously into PHD land spout unAmerican rhetoric for 40 years. We've watched the Big Media look down their noses every night into our living rooms and push their socialist agendas. Every morning we've opened our "news"papers and been disgusted with socialist editorials bleeding into every other article in every other section- even the comics. Hollywood has become a cesspool.

The left is bringing a huge, long over due backlash on and I'm one of many that can't wait to jump into the front row.

While some of those things stated were pretty much unsubstantiated make belief (Holy spirit, lol!) has it not already been proven that Obama has ties with incredibly questionable people? Bill Ayers, who has already been proven to be a terrorist? What about his "mentors" who keep preaching hatred and death to america? Come on guys, these things you simply can't explain away. Yes, some of the statements in the video were outright ignorant, but you can't explain away his ties to Ayers and Wright.

that a majority of the middle americans have bitten hook, line, and sinker the anti obama rhetoric.

funny that the polls don't reflect that majority.

I also doubt that the majority of Mccain supporters practice or condone this anti-Obama hate rhetoric.

If they are anti-Obama it is because they don't agree with his plans.

You can find hate emails like that from independents, dems, and reps alike going to both candidates.

Not "everyone bit's on this dribble hook line and sinker." (sic) at all. Not everyone was saying this was representative of either "country folk's" (sic) or even of McCain supporters. I find it "extremely odd" how you came to that conclusion.

So it may not be the case for all "country folk's" (sic), but the ones on the film certainly were either racist or ignorant.

The issue is that the Obama supporters who actually have personal relations with the man and know him best, are an unrepentant terrorist, a slumlord, and a racist america-hatemonger who hides behind a pulpit. What have they seen in Obama that the public hasn't?

It looks like Jeremiah Wright was just the tip of the iceberg. Not only did Barack Obama savor Wrights sermons, Obama gave legitimacy — and a whole lot of money — to education programs built around the same extremist anti-American ideology preached by Reverend Wright. All this is revealed by a bit of digging, combined with a careful study of documents from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the education foundation Obama and Ayers jointly led in the late 1990s.. through ACORN

No that's actually another issue, a valid issue perhaps, but another issue all the same.

That's not what this particular thread is about. This thread is about the news coverage of a pro-Republican rally in Ohio and the views spoken by the people that attended.

Have you ever seen those packs of dogs that hang out at the corner of someone's property? All some has to do is yell "sickem, go gettim" and they all start barking and charging at nothing. That is the way ignorant folks are. You can tell them anything, and because they have no intellectual curiously, they can so easily be led with fear and lies, because they will not CHECK OUT THE FACTS (is easier for them to simply be hateful). If Palin should ever actually assume the presidency, I will leave this country by any means possible - as I will not be part of "the mob"
